Teen killed trying to steal car

JPD issued the following press release:

On Thursday, July 21, 2016, at approx. 12:30 PM, Jackson Police Officers responded to Performance Oil at 920 E. McDowell Rd. regarding a shooting. Upon officers' arrival, it was learned that a black male later identified as Charles McDonald, 17, had been shot multiple times in the upper torso at this location. He was transported to UMMC via AMR where he was pronounced deceased shortly after arrival.

During the course of the investigation, it was learned that McDonald was allegedly burglarizing a gray Lexus car in the parking lot of this business. One of the employees, armed with a handgun, approached McDonald in the parking lot and attempted to stop him. There was a struggle between the McDonald and the employee. The employee shot him during the struggle. The employee was questioned and later released. There were no other injuries reported. The Lexus car did sustain damage that was consistent with it being burglarized.

The case is still under investigation and the findings will be forwarded to the Hinds County Grand Jury for further action. The identity of the employee is not being disclosed at this time.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE tell me the car wasn't badly damaged.

His mom was driving him to juvenile detention. He jumped out and tried to steal a car. Got shot.

Any economists out there, who'd chance a guess at how much money society (local, state, national governments, and taxpayers) has been saved by this timely eradication? The subject, hopefully, has only had time to father maybe eight or ten future problems - probably only three or four. So, in addition to all the hospital costs, court costs, law enforcement costs, and damaged/stolen property caused by this being, would someone like to estimate the reduced cost to society, of future generations of this robber's offspring (the likely offspring prevented by the eradication)?

Then, of course, there are the intangibles - the grief, fear, anger, cynicism and sense of hopelessness caused by people such as this burglar. It's hard to put a price tag on the intangibles, although civil suits sometimes do...

The kind of justice Jackson needs. Time for thugs to pay the price. I'm sure Stokes will protest this street justice.

The business owner saw him breaking into an employee's car and yelled at him to 'get out of here!' but the teen puffed up. So he fired a warning shot in the ground. The thug charged him and was trying to get the gun; this guy was lucky to get some shots off during the struggle... he's been cleared. No doubt half a dozen local BLM wanna be's will protest. Luckily, it's too hot for them to last long.

Did I miss the race of the business owner and employee-shooter?

@8:54

Just see the JFP. "White Male Shoots Black Minor for Breaking into Car Near Juvenile Detention Center." They are making a race issue out of this but do not give the whole story. BTW, I don't normally read JFP but someone in law enforcement posted the story to FB to show how sick and biased the JFP is.

If this happened more often, crime would drop.

Of course 'lives matter'. But, so does property. Caskets are property too. Donations will be accepted.

I'm not celebrating the death of this yoot but am OK with the way it all went down. Many will say, "Hell, it was only a car!" Tomorrow, it would 'only be' your bedroom dresser drawers holding jewelry and cash and a pistol. And possibly your wife laying on the floor, slashed.

Regardless of race, thug life = high risk occupation...'nuff said

@9:45 Our little media napoleon Donner yearns for a racial incident in Jackghanistan incendiary enough to garner national media attention.

This was clearly a shooting in self- defense.
What appalls me is the joy express by those who have commented.
The parents were doing the right thing. I expect they still held out hope that their son could turn his life around. They watched their son be killed. The shooter is no doubt traumatized and unless he is a sociopath, is not happy about having to kill another human.
And, I certainly have some real questions about the ethics of those of you who value property over life. Would you have rejoiced if the employee had been shot trying to save a car? Are you thrilled when innocent bystanders are killed during a police chase of a stolen car?
I have an expensive car . It's insured as is all my property of any value. None of my " stuff" is worth anyone dying over! The very few things that are irreplaceable to me are secured in a safe.
What is wrong with you people that you can't see this is a tragedy? How is it that you don't understand there have always been those among us who are criminals or violently crazy? Do you really believe your family is forever immune to having a teen who gets on drugs or has mental problems? Will you think just shooting them is the best solution?
And, if you don't think a troubled teenager who breaks the law can turn their life around, you might want to read about the life of Franklin Graham! Clearly, you didn't know some Mississippi's most prominent and respected citizens during their teenage years who didn't get caught or whose parents kept them from being held responsible for what they did!

While many up here are being the typical Mississippi racists bigots - at the same time young kids need to understand, crime doesn't pay! Don't steal what is not yours! If someone is not bothering you, then leave them alone!

When a person decides they want to become a criminal they should know that, like any other occupation, there are some hazards with the job choice. Parents who let their kids choose crime as an occupation should realize their kid may not be very good at their chosen job. An electrician takes the chance of being shocked when they are working. A truck driver takes the chance of a wreck when they are working. Criminals take the chance of being shot by their victims.
If you do not enjoy being shot a criminal occupation may not be the right job for you.

Absolutely no fault goes to the victim who stands up to a criminal. To a criminal it is only property they can sell to buy drugs. To a hard working person it is their property they worked hard to afford. A property owner will feel different about property than a person who does not work for what they want. To a crook it is only something to steal and sell. To a property owner it is THEIR property they worked for.

Hey 8:40, don't judge everyone by the racists that post here. They have too much time on their hands while they wither in fear of Democrats and black men.

My Stuff Is Not YOUR Stuff... said...

So....to recap. A youth was shot attempting to steal property from somebody. The law allows that. But, we must change the focus immediately to whites being afraid of blacks and another unfortunate young black lying dead in the skreet whist his momma weeps. When you steal shit, bad things will eventually happen to you.

If 8:40 would put up a sign saying 'Here, take my stuff, it's insured', maybe we'd have less theft and less bodies in the morgue. Until then, stay armed and know your rights as a gun owner.

"Fear of Democrats and black men"??????

They better fear me......
We are sick and tired of violence. We have a law that allows us the right to protect ourselves and our property.
WE ARE NOT AFRAID TO USE THE LAW AND OUR GUNS TO KILL CRIMINALS..

Seventeen years old. That should break your heart.

Not that he was unfairly gunned down or we should weep for this thug and his behavior or any of that limp-wristed liberal pabulum that that spew at Donna's Race-Baiting Agitprop rag.

I just think of when I was 17 or when my daughter was 17 and it makes me sad that such a young kid placed no greater value on his life or the lives of others or on the property of others.

It is a tragedy what is happening in poor black America, in that 17-year-old kids are behaving this way and another one dead is as common as Tuesday.

Sorry, but it makes me sad that this is the state of our nation, and that all those idiots who voted for Obama 8 years ago under the notion that it was going to eradicate racial problems and right some set of wrongs can't see that all he has done is split the nation down racial lines.

Anonymous said...

There is a bright side to it. No one will have to be the victim of that 17 year old thug. The state will not have to spend money keeping him alive.
He was never taught the value of life. The only value he put on property is what the pawn shop would give him for the items he stole. His life had no value and he thought all lives were the same as is. It didn't happen over night. He wasn't born that way. It took 17 years of teaching to make him the way he was.

I agree with 12:01....we have rights. Once you commit a crime against a law abiding citizen you lose your civil rights. And being stopped dead in your tracks is one way to lose them. Steal and you will meet steel....and lead.....and buckshot

Anonymous said...

He was only 17, but it's hard to feel bad about this. Don't be a criminal.

To whoever mentioned that members of the MS elite had mis-steps during their youth: you may be right but I'd guess those mistakes were pretty minor compared to attempting to break into and/or steal a car in broad daylight.

Anonymous said...

Attempting to steal car in broad daylight was a very bad idea. Attacking the business owner just goes to show ignorance. The one good thing about a dumb criminal is they tend to have a short life span.

Anonymous said...

Possibly we should clarify that the deceased was shot, not because he was attempting to steal a car, but because he was attacking (and attempting to shoot - and possibly murder) someone.

Anonymous said...

9:27, it sounds so much better to say a kid was trying to steal a car and was shot. Telling the truth does not sound as good.
Man attacking business owner when caught attempting to steal a car does not sound the same.

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
