Rankin County Sheriff Bryan Bailey issued the following statement:
On Wednesday July 20, 2016 around 4:00 P.M.
the Rankin County Sheriff's Department received a 911 regarding a
possible deceased female at her residence in the 100 block of Floyd
Street. Floyd Street is located between Richland and Florence
in south Rankin County.
The victim was identified as 51 year-old KIMBERLY RAINER SCHRADER.
A neighbor noticed a major water leak in the front
yard of the residence and was trying to make contact with SCHRADER, who
is physically disabled, to advise her of the leak. When he was unable
to get SCHRADER to answer the door, he entered
the residence to check on her well-being. SCHRADER was found slumped
over her mechanical chair in the living room. The neighbor immediately
called 911.
There were no signs of forced entry into the residence nor any evidence to indicated a physical disturbance had taken place.
At this time, it appears robbery may have been the motive.
The Mississippi Bureau of Investigations was contacted to assist in the investigation.
It appears the victim suffered from trauma to the
head. Rankin County Coroner David Ruth transported SCHRADER to the
Mississippi Crime Lab where an autopsy will be performed to determine
the exact cause of death.
There are a couple of persons of interest in the
case. They were taken to the Sheriff's Office for interviews and
released within hours.
