The Dallas Morning News reported a robbery went awry earlier this week:
DeSoto police have identified the suspect in an aggravated robbery at a Waffle House last week. The New York Daily News published this story with pictures of the perp. NYDN did not refer to Cooper as a victim.
About 2:30 a.m. Thursday, police were called to the Waffle House in the 1500 block of North Beckley Avenue, where they found a man shot in the parking lot.
Customers told police that the man had come into the restaurant, armed with an AK-47, and robbed numerous people as well as the business.
One customer, who was legally carrying a concealed handgun, followed the robber into the parking lot because he was afraid for the safety of his wife, who was on her way to the Waffle House.
The customer called out to the robber, who turned and pointed the rifle at him, police said. The customer then shot the robber several times.
The robbery suspect, who police later identified as 26-year-old Antione Devon Cooper of Dallas, was taken to a hospital, where he is on life support.
Police said the customer was not arrested. Rest of article.

Maybe that will help people think twice about robbing a Waffle House at 2:30 in the morning.
Very good job, customer.
For the record, the NY Daily News is about as anti-Second Amendment as it gets.
Front sight...slack out and press, reset and press, reset and press.
My thoughts, in three words: PULL THE PLUG!!!
That's the night that the lights went out in Texas
That's the night that they shot an innocent man
Well Don't trust your soul to no back woods Southern lawyer
Cause the judge in the town's got bloodstains on his hands
Pull the plug, good riddance.
I do not think following a robber into a parking lot is a good idea. Congrats to the shooter for an accurate shoot, but in some cities, the legal aspects of following someone, shouting at them, then shooting them would be a fuck up.
9:41, sure glad some people do not have the same thought process as you.
The NYDN is the most polemical paper in NYC. This is the paper that has Shaun King on staff as a "justice writer" because he tweeted about Black Lives Matter or something. He's also whiter than Obama. But because he spits out bomb-throwing article after bomb-throwing article, he's a perfect fit for the miscreants at the Daily News.
If he ever loses his job, I'm certain there's a "smart alternative" paper nearby that would pay him to call every light-skinned resident of the metro racist.
Waffle House has a sign on every restaurant saying no guns allowed.
1:10, that sign should keep out all people who want to use a gun to hold them up. Maybe armed robbers can't read.
