Serial killer dies

The Baton Rouge serial killer died.  WAFB reported:

Convicted south Louisiana serial killer Derrick Todd Lee has died, officials confirmed Thursday morning.

Pam Laborde, spokeswoman with the Louisiana Department of Safety and Corrections, said Lee died shortly before 9 a.m. Lee was taken to the hospital on Saturday due to a medical condition, according to Laborde.

Lee, 47, has been linked to DNA to the deaths of multiple women. He has been convicted in two of those deaths.

In 2004, he was sentenced to death in the 2002 first-degree murder of Charlotte Murray Pace, 22, of Baton Rouge. She was a graduate student at LSU at the time of her death. Article
Kingfish note: We can only hope that he suffered as he died and that he is now rotting in hell.  We can also hope that Mrs. Pace may finally know some peace.

Echo your note KF. Murray Pace was my friend and one of the kindest, smartest, most generous souls I've ever known. Derrick Todd Lee can burn in hell.

BURN IN HELL!!!!!!!!!!!

Feeling pretty confident here that the orthodox Christian position is to earnestly hope that the man repented of his sins before his death and is now in the bosom of his Lord & Savior, Jesus Christ.

One needn't be a Christian, of course, but then, which religion's hell are you wishing him in?

The sanctimonious one, yours.

Gates of Hell said...

YOURS, 11:58! And take your pious bullshit sermonizing and stick it up your ass. If ever there was a slug that deserved an agonizing death and damnation (you decide what that word means) this bastard is it. If there's a God and HE deems this scumbag worthy of salvation (you decide what that means), that's between him and the scumbag.

This will only bring a day and a half of odd relief to Mrs. Pace. Then she's right back to the forever agony of life without her beautiful daughter. It won't be 'better', only 'different'.

Well said Mr. Kingfish (RE your note)

"Where's the Black Lives Matter crowd? This poor 47 Year Old was a victim of entrenched white man hate so he just naturally went bad."

Just kidding. I'm a terrible kidder.
May the SOB be assigned to the lowest levels of HELL.

Since Hell and Christianity have been invoked, and since some who claim the name "Christian" may be tempted to invite Hell upon Lee and may already have, I invite any other Bible-readers (dare I say, Christians) to spend a few minutes with me in Matthew 5:38-48:

38"You have heard that it was said, ‘An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.’ 39But I say to you, Do not resist the one who is evil. But if anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also. 40And if anyone would sue you and take your tunic, let him have your cloak as well. 41And if anyone forces you to go one mile, go with him two miles. 42Give to the one who begs from you, and do not refuse the one who would borrow from you.

43“You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ 44But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, 45so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven. For he makes his sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. 46For if you love those who love you, what reward do you have? Do not even the tax collectors do the same? 47And if you greet only your brothers, what more are you doing than others? Do not even the Gentiles do the same? 48You therefore must be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect."

(By the way, y'all, that's red letter text.)

I only offer that for your consideration; not in judgement. I'm just here trying to walk the narrow path the same way that a lot of y'all are too.

Chill out guys.

I think 11:58 was just pointing out the ridiculousness of the literalist crowd that inhabits this area.

Now, perhaps he's an asshole for doing it in this context, but it's probably best to ignore him and save the discussion for a better time.

an evil offender is gone. no need to speculate what his after-life fate is, this world is rid of him. Louisiana saved some money on the chemicals needs to inject him...

Me & Paul said...

A 'literalist'? right.

Some of this guy's victims were black. The known ones. How many black and white women he killed will never be known. Why he got life in the slammer I have no clue. Sounds like a bad verdict to me.

Whatever.....Mrs Pace can take a deep breath and exhale slowly tonite.

Anonymous said...

2:34 That's a whoooooole typing and yet not one word about his victims.

Anonymous said...

5:48, my point was 11:58 had nothing relevant to say.

He was simply taking an easy, cheap shot at the 6,000 year old earth crowd.

And of course they stuck their heads up to take the shot like Aldo from McGregor.

So none of you people has ever read a single gospel?

Trump fans all, I gather.

The good news is that the killer could have the chance for eternal salvation. One can only hope his victims aren't burning in hell now either....because they rejected Jesus.

For I am an unworthy as the killer...yet I am saved by the grace of God by faith.

Here's hoping the posters here experience salvation.

For I have been to hell. It looks a lot like Venice LA

"Convicted south Louisiana serial killer Derrick Todd Lee has died"

Good.

FWIW, if not for LA's law requiring arrestee's DNA to be collected and entered in a database, Lee would likely never have been caught.

This law also enabled LA to solve a cold case from the 1970's, south of Houston, that I recall from my childhood. A teenaged girl was abducted, raped, and dumped near I-45, as told in the story "The Killing Fields". The perpetrator got away with it for decades, until the DNA match from Louisiana finally popped up. He confessed and was convicted.

Wonder how many more would be caught if we had something like that here...

10:04, I haven't read the LA statute, but MS does have a DNA collection statute--Katie's law. Passed and signed in 2014 I think. Requires DNA collection in correlation with certain charges. Supported heavily by Governor Bryant and the Prosecutor's Association. Sponsored in the Senate by Brice Wiggins.

I was an undergrad at LSU when he was killing and lived in an apt down the road from Carrie Yoder (his last noted victim). It was super scary. I was walking to class when her body was wheeled into the FACES forensic lab at LSU. I carried a stun gun and knife on me at all times. What made things worse is that the police were going off an antiquated FBI profiling system that told all of us to look out for a white male. They did not even consider that he could be black or any other race.

On a side note, there was also a serial SNUGGLER going around LSU at the time as well. Kid you not, girls were waking up in the middle of the night with some guy snuggling/spooning them or massaging their feet. Crazy!

We all have our favorite sin(s) to rail against. Funny how it's always one that we don't commit. I would love to see Derrick Todd Lee in heaven when I die, along with all his victims. I, personally, do not wish eternal damnation on anyone. I realize I'm probably in the minority in that regard.

Good to hear from the 'Olive Branch Crowd'. The 'Oh Well' crowd. The same ones who would vow to sit down with our enemies over tea and crumpets. The 'I hope to see him in Heaven' crowd, 'so we can sit in a circle and hold hands over a pot of bean soup and talk shit out'.

Read the comments of Mrs. Pace in today's Clarion Ledger you sanctimonious, pussy-whipped tools.

@10:04
"This law also enabled LA to solve a cold case from the 1970's,"
Eugenie Boisfontaine was killed in 1997.

"south of Houston,"
South east of Baton Rouge.

"that I recall from my childhood."
Not very well.

"A teenaged girl"
Eugenie was 34 years old.

"was abducted, raped, and dumped near I-45,"
I-45 is 400 miles from Bayou Manchac.

"as told in the story "The Killing Fields"."
Not that story. "The Killing Fields" is the story of Eugenie.

"The perpetrator got away with it for decades,"
He is still getting away with it.

"until the DNA match from Louisiana finally popped up. He confessed and was convicted."
Not unless it is a different case. Eugenie's killer has not been identified, but Derrick Todd Lee has been excluded based on DNA results.

As a Catholic, and one who has wrestled painfully with this question, I cannot applaud a killing, not even the killing of a killer. Oh, I want to. Part of me would have happily pulled the switch on this one. But...I can't. In my prayers and meditations, I put myself in the place of Ann Pace, and of all parents of murdered children, and the sentiment wells up---KILL THE BASTARD WHO DID THIS!! But nothing will bring a murdered one back to life. Nothing can atone.

I can't rejoice in anyone's death, even trash like this man. But, I can rejoice that the public is free of the obligation to feed, house, and lawyer him further. He has been a burden to society, a burden to families left behind from these brutal murders, and a burden to those who hate the memory of the violence he stirred. Mostly the thing many of us might rejoice over is the end of possibility for liberals to find a loophole via which they could further torture victim's families. One never knows, so long as a criminal lives, what unreasonable, unrighteous, lib-approved, justice-for-the-killer tweak a lowlife defense lawyer will bribe out via corrupt courts. So long as killers tried, convicted, and awaiting death linger, the public has to watch for tricks. His tricks just ran out. And, as a Christian, I do honestly hope he came to know the love of God and to regret and repent of his actions. Hopefully one day liberals who defend this kind of activity and support killers, torturers, and sadists and wish to loose them into communities will also come to know the reality of this world. Until then a dead murderer is one who won't kill again. God rest his soul.

This is the victim I was thinking of. There were 30 of them, and I got her confused with all of those that were found in the 1970's. Her disappearance actually occurred in the 90's:

Krystal Baker: 13, from Texas City, Texas. Last seen at a convenience store. Discovered March 5, 1996.

16 years after Krystal Jean Baker's beaten, raped and strangled body was found, Kevin Edison Smith was arrested and convicted for her murder.[1] In 2009, Smith had been arrested on a drug charge in Louisiana, and around the same time a detective tested Krystal Baker's dress for DNA and the match was confirmed using advanced modern-day technologies that were not available at the time of Krystal's disappearance.[8] The jury deliberated for no more than 30 minutes before Smith was sentenced to life in prison.[9]

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
