Update: Item pulled from the agenda at the Council meeting.
Jackson Ward 7 Councilwoman Virgi Lindsey placed this little item on the agenda for tomorrow's meeting of the Jackson City Council.
It's a step in the right direction but will the Mayor approve the ordinance. If approved, will the city actually enforce it?

This is a no-brainer. Let's see if we have any brains left in Jackson. I live here, so.... thoughts and prayers.
The ACLU will sue to block this. When I lived downtown the police would do nothing about the homeless sleeping on the park benches and told me the ACLU blocked them from doing anything.
How about an ordinance saying it’s illegal to stand in a roadway or obstruct the flow of traffic….

She is Jackson's biggest disappointment.
7:23 PM, it’s only a no-brainer for the moral and sane. But Democrats use crime and chaos, including homelessness, to keep Republicans from moving into their cities and voting Democrats out of office. Crime and chaos is exactly how Democrats control cities like Jackson, MS forever.
But, if the video linked below is real, grifter Democrats like Chokwe’s days could be numbered.

How about an ordinance that makes it illegal to have a grifter for a mayor?
-imo- The ACLU are a bunch of ultra liberal clowns who always get in the way when things work they know they will never have to deal with what others deal with. You have to have checks & balances with anything you do. I want all of the unhoused to have a warm stay it's the opportunist acting as unhoused who don't want to abide by the rules. (Non Profit) Come stay here ,but you have to be in by 9 no drugs etc.. (opportunist) No i would rather stay outside & do all the crazy sht you say i can't do. This is the problem that i've noticed & we have to find out how to stop other cities & towns from sending all these people they don't want here.
"Unhoused?" Go back to woke Kalifornia where you belong.
The ACLU should change their name to IPAU (Identity Politics Are Us).
8:24 I was being politically correct i see you didn't read nothing i typed now "Homeless" is what you wanted here u go lmao don't forget that 1 mistake will have you "HOMELESS" my friend since you want me to use it & i would never move to greasy head NEWSCUMS state you picked the right one today now get up & go get the Bacca you chew from that gas station 15 mins from your house & yes i see your IP lmao thanks for the laugh i will use "HOMELESS" all day today.
Show me the official guidelines laws rules and regulations already in place with the City for "Regulated Camping" and let me know what it takes to get "Authorized" and by whom does the "Authorization" and I'll consider thinking about it. Honestly, these people just make up shit on the fly to attempt to justify their position in power don't they?
7:23, Please change the words Democrats to Communists and repost. Thank you
I do not know a single democrat who wants to see homeless people on our streets, in our parks or under bridges. The reason we see so many these days is because the police can no longer take people involuntarily to a mental asylum ( most of which are now closed in other states) or a hospital psych ward for a 48 hour evaluation or to be dried out for 21 days from drugs or alcohol. We have to wait until a person hurts themselves or others and then it's too damn late. It's too damn late for the suicidal or troubled child as well if their parents don't have the funds for treatment or a place to take them for treatment. We've made it nearly impossible for psychiatrist to trigger involuntary treatment.
Even teenage girls whose parents are Christians and who goes to a Christian school can find her parent's gun or steal a gun from a careless home she visits. Freedom ain't free yahoos!
If approved, will the city actually enforce it?
No, but Wade will certainly talk his brains out about it once the TV Newsers ask for comment on camera.
As above noted, vagrancy and public intoxication laws already exist in Jackson, Vacuous Virginia is just looking for a way outta her air-headed history of forever stroking our shitty little tyrant monetizing the mayor's office.
Why can't the Capital Police open their own tented camping facility on rural state property and put the homeless in it, make them raise and harvest crops to feed themselves and prisoners nearby. Invite the ACLU commies to come spend the night with their pet psychos?
What ordinance? This is nothing more than a resolution with no specifics or legal weight whatsoever. Just what Jackson needs good intentions with no substance.
Seems like Virgi realized she hitched her Choke-wagon to the wrong horse and is desperately trying to course correct in case the COJ still accidentally contains enough sane voters to finally send her packing.
I am sure Fondren will gladly put her useless ass back in office regardless.
Pulled from agenda....as expected.

@10:33 - Tell us about this 'vagrancy law' that exists in Jackson.
At the northern approach to Cleveland on Highway 61, the other day, I noticed a sign appended to a real nice convenience store that reads, "No Loitering - Police Enforced".
As Bunker would say, "Them was the days."
I remove them myself from the properties I have downtown. They spread the word to the rest of the hobos and it works just fine. No grifters needed. Grow a set and handle your s^*t.

But where so you stash the bodies?
1:40pm
2017 Mississippi Code
Title 97 - Crimes
Chapter 35 - Crimes Against Public Peace and Safety
§ 97-35-39. Vagrants; penalty for vagrancy; bond
Virgi's useless ass is kept in office by the ones that put her there, The Belhaven. The Fondren helps but there is no way Belhaven turns their back on their Queen.
