Bol Mabil, the brother of the deceased Dau Mabil, posted the following "update" on Facebook.
UPDATE ON MY BROTHER Dau Garang Mabil’s INDEPENDENT AUTOPSY AND DISTURBING DEVELOPMENTS SURROUNDING HIS CASEDear Friends and Family,I am writing to provide an update regarding my brother, Dau Garang Mabil, and the ongoing investigation into his suspicious death. As of now, I unfortunately do not have any official updates to share, as we are still in the waiting period for the results of the independent autopsy report.— feeling concerned.Dau's body was transported to Tampa, Florida, for a second autopsy on August 1, 2024. This was made possible, thanks, to the generous contributions from many of you who recognized the importance of an independent autopsy. The autopsy itself took place on August 2, and since then, his body has remained in a funeral home in Mississippi. This situation has thrust my family into a prolonged period of anguish, as we grapple with the uncertainty in seeking the closure that remains elusive nearly nine months after Dau was reported missing by his wife on March 25, 2024, a day etched in our minds and followed by the heart-wrenching discovery of his body in the Pearl River on April 13, 2024.As a result, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude for your concern and support during this challenging time. Knowing that we are not alone in this fight brings comfort, and I truly appreciate every one of you for standing with us. I know many of you are just beginning to understand the depth of the injustice that my family is facing due to Dau’s suspicious death. However, I want to update you today because I feel compelled to address disturbing information being disseminated by James Bowley, my brother's father-in-law. He has conveyed that the autopsy results will be released in three weeks and has implied that he will be satisfied with those findings. This assertion raises alarming questions, as it appears to reflect a concerted effort by James Bowley, some members of his family, the State of Mississippi Medical Examiners who conducted the initial autopsy, and the Mississippi Capitol Police. There are signs of collusion aimed at influencing the independent autopsy's outcome, which is deeply concerning and merits scrutiny. This troubling development also highlights the reason I filed a motion on July 1, 2024, with the court to enforce the judgment for an independent autopsy that would be insulated from any external influence. However, it’s disheartening to note that the Hinds County Chancery Court, Judge Dewayne Thomas, denied that motion to force me to use a pathologist my brother’s wife wants to be selected and has a veto over to prevent any pathway toward a fair investigation. Some media outlets even reported, suggesting my agreement with my late brother’s wife, contrary to what happened. On the other hand, the Mississippi Department of Public Safety (MSDPS) aligned itself with my brother's wife, working to try to dissolve the emergency restraining order that I filed on April 17, 2024, and convinced the court to realigned the parties in the case; making my brother’s wife a plaintiff in the case instead of treating her as a person of interest in the cause of my brother's death. This order was crucial in preventing the premature release of Dau’s body and was intended to ensure a fair and unbiased investigation. To add to our distress, the Mississippi Capitol Police—the primary agency that was in charge of investigating Dau's suspicious disappearance and death—has not conducted a fair and transparent inquiry. They have selectively released information, leaving out key details that would provide a clearer picture. Alarmingly, they have not interrogated significant individuals who may hold critical information regarding Dau’s death. The City of Jackson Police Department (JPD) has yet to disclose its report, raising further concerns. Notably, a detective initially assigned to Dau’s case was replaced by an officer with a questionable background, which adds to our uncertainty.I must stress that I will not accept any investigative report that fails to incorporate all available evidence. Preliminary findings indicate that Dau did not succumb to drowning; rather, it appears he was kidnapped and tragically murdered. His body was likely discarded in the Pearl River as an attempt to conceal the evidence of this heinous crime. My family and I are resolute in our pursuit of justice for Dau. We will not waver in our fight against any injustice being perpetuated against my brother and my family until those responsible for his untimely death are held accountable......His daughter, Karissa Bowley, in her testimony before the court on April 30, 2024, placed him on the Museum Trail in Jackson, Mississippi, exactly when Dau was walking before his disappearance. There is video evidence of Karissa’s statement for the public to see. He is a time bomb. My family and I have been living in fear.I urge all who believe in fairness and justice to lend their voices in demanding accountability for my brother. Dau valued the truth, and he believed it was the only way to live, and he didn't have to die as he did. Please share this message with your friends, family, and the public to help advocate for justice for Dau.Thank youFYI, Mayor Chokwe Antar Lumumba, your police department (JPD) must come clean. Why was the detective assigned to Dau’s case removed and replaced with someone with questionable background? Please ask your police department to release their report of the investigation. Otherwise, I won’t stop pushing for accountability until those who took my brother's life are held accountable.
Kingfish note: The "....." replaces four sentences about James Bowley, Karissa's father. They are potentially slanderous so they were not included in this post.

If he's so sure it was murder, maybe he did it.
Didn’t his attorney go on record to say that his death was identical to the drowning of Emmitt Till?
We need just just start calling you jellyfish because you are totally spineless.
Suspician is a frustrating thing, especially when there are people whose livlihood is involved in perpetuating suspician whenever it promotes their crusade against "injustice". Or perhaps just a means to collect a fee. No matter what the facts may reveal if those facts do not raise even more suspician they will be rejected and hence no satisfaction or closure can be acheived. Sorry this guy is caught in this cycle. It's sad.
Grasping at straws, looking for a book & movie deal payday.....
As I read, I kept hoping he would mention somebody or some agency that agrees with his, ah, suspicions...or at least lends a scintilla of credibility to his assertions and suggestions.
Finding nobody or agency that agrees with anything he says, I'm left to conclude he has fabricated an elaborate but factless conspiracy hoax.
Not only do I see him as a conspiracy theorist, but I also sense an element of paranoia when he mentions his father-in-law being a time-bomb. Everyone is against him and, no doubt, someone has planted cameras and microphones throughout his house.
He presents himself as being alone against all the evils of the world with every involved agency, even the independent autopsy guy, withholding the truth.
The only group he leaves out of his mission is the local psychiatric community and that's probably where he should spend a little time.
I remember how high the river was when this occurred. I was kayaking at LeFleurs Bluff on the lake that empties into the river around that time. The river had been in the lake and had just dropped below the level of the lake when I was in it. Quite fascinating. I could see the river rushing fast from my kayak in the lake. I got out and walked up to the river and I almost went in because an eddy had eroded where I was standing. That would have been the end of me. I said it back when this happened and still believe that he fell in and drowned. It still sounds like a tragic accident to me. I doubt the family will be satisfied with another autopsy confirming he drowned but that's what I predict. Such a hard situation for the family.
He is being used as a tool by the people who want to stir up racial animosity. I assume Chokwe's cult sees a race war as a prerequisite to establishing their Republic.
He's dead. Move on.
This guy and the culpable family need a support group
A tragedy, no doubt. Grief can do funny things to people. I use that trail nearly daily and it’s seldom that you could get away with something like that without being seen. Anything is possible tho
Trying to stretch that 15 minutes into a half-hour.
Put up or shut up Bul
First, thank goodness his remains made it back to MS.
He says the evidence points to something that no officer or coroner has concluded.
Sad situation. One side of the family needs time to heal while the other side of the family is desperate to find someone to blame.
The amount of things he’s alleged regarding this matter is appalling. First, he is claiming that the judge realigning the motion to have the surviving spouse is a “conspiracy against him” well that’s the law sir. Absent a good reason to. Then he roped in those attorneys who tried to allege this was an Emmett Till level case, but haven’t provided evidence. Then the first autopsy was wrong. Now the second autopsy is wrong. And he’s been egregiously defamatory alleging people committed this. But no evidence has been proven just insinuated. First they said “oh the video, look at the video” then the police said yeah the video isn’t conclusive. Then they had that young lady that was mediating the marital problems, on the whole, this guy is just out here saying things silly billy and there’s no meat to back it up. Honestly this is a defamation case and bar complaints against the attorneys who caused this mess to begin with. Including the things that were said to the news media.
What doesnt make much sense is that Bul is alleging that the judge and the judicial system is against him, when I vividly remember that the judge allowed Lisa Ross to make what was supposed to be a basic motion hearing about realigning the parties, and clarifying the order for an autopsy which the parties agreed on, mind you. into a full blown hypothetical murder trial.
I'll be down here for a while if anybody wants to talk to me (confidentially). I'm at the America's Best Inns and Suites behind the club at 11238 West Northside Drive. I'll leave a light on for ya.
Spencer Bowey has posted an extensive reply to this on his own Facebook page. He has also engaged in a debate with Mr. Mabil and other commenters in several comments associated with a post on Mr. Mabil's page that concerns a video of some guy talking at a bus station. You have to turn on all comments to see the debate (not just relevant comments).
Something we made sure our kids understood, was that their choices of spouses would affect not just their own futures, but also the futures and well-being of their descendants, and the futures and well-being of their immediate and extended family. Like it or not, and for better or for worse, when we marry, we're forcing our families to be connected with our spouses' families. This story would've made a grand cautionary tale, to illustrate that principle.
