D.L. Gardner: How Bad Can It Get?

The world is as unstable now as it has ever been and things are getting worse. Early Saturday morning October 7, Hamas, the de facto governing authority of the Gaza strip, launched a coordinated surprise attack against Israel with a barrage of thousands of missiles and a ground invasion of Israeli settlements.

Within hours hundreds of Israelis were brutally and indiscriminately killed in their homes and neighborhoods. Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu declared war against Hamas, the Israel Defense Force rallied the military forces to repel the attacks and orchestrated counterattacks inside the Gaza strip.

Considering the size of Israel and the Gaza strip, this latest war should not shake the whole world. But it does. In one way or another Israel and Jerusalem have been the center of the world since God led Abraham there 4,000 years ago. Wars and historical events that happen there don’t stay there. Israel is arguably yet historically the most disputed territory on earth.

Iran has used Hamas as well as Hezbollah in Lebanon as its proxies to attack Israel. Iran is the principal instigator in this war. That helps explain why war in such an isolated little country is shaking the world. Of course, Iran has been negotiating with Russia, China, and North Korea for oil and weapons. That coalition of nations has a humongous impact on the world.

America and Israel have been traditional allies since Israel issued the Declaration of the Establishment of the State of Israel May 14, 1948. It’s not surprising that this most recent attack and war in the small country is packing quite a load to destabilize the whole world.

The Trump administration recognized how a relatively small conflict in Israel could attract a lot of attention from a powerhouse coalition of Iran, Russia, China, and North Korea. Trump used a carrot and stick approach with the Abraham Accords as the carrot and sanctions as the stick to keep our adversaries at bay.

Unfortunately, Americans elected a man who has a long history of bad decisions in foreign affairs. President Biden did not wait to get off on the wrong foot with our adversaries. He led the disastrous withdrawal from Afghanistan and displayed our utter weakness to the whole world. In fact, Biden reversed Trump’s foreign and domestic policies wholesale and created economic headaches not only in America but around the world.

In light of this latest international challenge in Israel, what will President Biden do? Higher gas and food prices are one of his legacies for America. What kind of legacy could Biden give to the world as he interacts with other international leaders who have worldwide aspirations and access to nuclear assets?

During the 20th Century America played leading roles in helping to stabilize the world in times of extreme crises. We began the 21st Century with 911 and a new kind of war against terrorism. Within our own borders we have fought more than two decades of our own culture wars that threaten to rip our nation apart. The crisis at our southern border has exacerbated both our domestic issues and foreign relations.

The world is as unstable now as it has ever been and things are getting worse. Are we living in the end times anticipating seven years of tribulation? How bad could it get?

Not true. Biden's National Security Adviser announced within the last two weeks that the Middle East is very quiet.

This time D.L. disappoints.

Nothing written here about the terrorism that drove the British out of Palestine.

Nothing written here about the taking of land.

Nothing written here about no right of return.

Nothing written here about the apartheid society.

Nothing written here about murderous events that I won't name because, I mean, I'm just trying as hard as I am able not to offend the certain sensibilities just to get this posted.

There's a lot of history rolled up in this conflict, and D.L. and almost the entire mainstream media only give one side of it, the blue side.

Almost seems like I read this in another column, is DL copying and pasting from his favorite news sources?

How bad can it get?

1. The conflict escalates into a regional war with the U.S. becoming directly involved.
2. OPEC responds with an oil embargo.
3. Iran closes the strait of Hormuz.
4. The price of oil reaches $300/barrel.
5. Europe succumbs to a full-blown energy crisis due to LNG shortage.
6. Massive spike in energy prices reinvigorates inflation with central banks responding accordingly.
7. Financial markets and the global banking sector collapse.
8. Debt crisis engulfs the U.S. forcing the Federal Reserve to enact yet another financial market bailout.
9. Petrodollar trade collapses.
10. Hyperinflation emerges.

The best bet right now is for the entire world to demand that Israel STAND DOWN and stop disrespecting Al-Aqsa and begin removing their settlements from ALL occupied territories.

For hundreds of years, Muslims, Jews and Christians peacefully co-existed in what is now known as Israel and the Gaza strip. Then the world, fueled by collective guilt over Hitler's slaughter of Jews, created Israel by taking land that previously belonged to and was occupied by everyone. Israel has defined geographic borders which Israelis ignored as they moved into the Golan Heights and Gaza. Muslims got pissed. War and cruelties on both sides ensued, justified by religions.

When the media machine rolls out the old “they killed babies” shtick, it’s to get the audience all worked up for the government’s regular “American boots on the ground” turn of plot.

Cue Biden.

@4:24 PM, Al-Aqsa? What’s that?

@9:22 AM

I will try to be as succinct as possible while trying my best to refrained from offending Christian sensibilities.

Al-Aqsa is compound in Jerusalem that is supposed to be managed by the Waqf of the King of Jordan.
Muslims call it Al-Haram Al-Sharif and consider it a Holy Sanctuary but do not believe that Allah lives there.
Jews call it the Temple Mount and historically considered the first and second temple to be the House of G-d which we know as YHWY.

Muslims have a mosque they call Masjid Al-Aqsa and an adjacent site known to the West as the Dome of the Rock which was built prior to the crusades and that Islam considers the Holy Site of Ascension for the prophets, Ibrahim (Abraham) and Mūsā ibn ʿImrān (Moses) as well as Isa/Yesua/Jesus who isthe Messiah rejected by Judeans, Considered G-d by Christians, but considered a Holy prophet to Islam. And then finally the last Prophet of Allah, named Mohammed, Peace be Upon Him, ascended to heaven from the location in Al-Aqsa.

It could get pretty bad if the armies of nations build up at the Israeli archeological site known today as Tel Megiddo which had a Greek name that was published in the Bible as Armageddon.

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
