Considering the speed and numbers of terrorists, it would have been difficult even for armed citizens to react. 12:56: I disagree. There would still be massive Israeli casualties. However, many of the Israelis, of not most, have military training. They will know what to do with a firearm. A family might get wiped out I'm a house but might also take a couple of terrorists down as well.

The victims don't have to necessarily beat Hamas, having the ability to fight back can slow down Hamas until the military can arrive.
