Doesn't everyone online bill pay from their bank for free like me?
Good to know. Thanks
They need to buy Batte Furniture and move it there.....
"and the parking lot are unsafe due to shattered glass and other debris."
And it was before the storm as well.
It's also not safe due the flying bullets.
Repairs expected to be completed in 120 days-
How is this different from the service any other day...even when staffed and doors are open?
At least noone’s having to dodge a fallen ferris wheel.
Did Socrates or Richard's get the nod to make repairs?
You can still go to the Water/Sewer Billing Office to pay your bill. Waiting time to pay your bill is still the same. No one in Jackson is going to pay their bill anyway.

Why do you need an office? Do people pay water bills in Jackson?
Going to cost 1 million to replace the glass at Metrocenter.

What a fitting ironic twist. The city that does not provide water fit for consumption, does not bill half its customers for water/sewer/trash collection services, does not repair years old gushing water leaks just closed its water/sewer billing department.
Will the city employees at W/S billing be temporarily reassigned? My guess is they will get an extended paid vacation.
I went out on a limb last week and paid my water bill the old-fashioned way. USPS. Is that even still an option? In a city as dysfunctional as Jackson, it is not necessarily safe to assume that the return envelope inside the bill means that one can mail his payment. I once drove my payment to Metrocenter once and told the clerks I’d been unable to pay using the payment options listed on the reverse side of the invoice. There was a collective eyeroll behind the counter as I was informed that those options had not worked for years.
This means that all of those city employees are on paid leave...for weeks and weeks. The ultimate "no show" jobs. I suppose having them drive around looking for water leaks wouldn't be in their "job description," right?
I would strongly recommend that people pay their bill through their bank website. This gives you evidence of the date that the payment was made, when they received it and when it cleared your bank account. This helped me when there was a problem with my bill and we got it straightened out. I don't have full confidence in paying your bill at these various locations. The internal controls are weak and payments that you make could be misapplied to another account or worse.
I keep a spreadsheet on all of my payments to Water/Sewer. On average, it takes 2-3 weeks after they receive it to deposit my check. This makes no sense at all.

An honest glass company would do it for $50,000.
Palm greasing friends of Chowke would do it for $1,000,000, right Socrates?
Prediction: This office will never reopen. This fits nicely in the Lumumba plan to destroy the City.
Socrates should do the work. He owns the building and leases it to the City. The lease should call for the owner to carry insurance on the property, so they are really only out the deductible. Do they have the money? Taxes have not been paid on this one for several years now. If the building can not be repaired in a timely manner, the city should be able to cancel the lease. Ted, let's move the water department offices to Byram and make them a little happier. What a great opportunity for the city to break a bad Harvey Johnson lease deal.
10:01 AM, I pay some bills from my bank account but would never trust Jackson water dept to be honest with my bill. Imagine how long it would take to get your money back when they suddenly say you owe several thousand dollars for water when your bill usually is a hundred dollars. Where is Jackson going to get the money to return it to you when they make a mistake. And they will make a mistake.
