Murder, domestic violence, and repeated-drug dealing took place over the years at a Braxton home where six Rankin County deputies stand accused of torturing two suspects.
To say 135 Conerly Road is known to Rankin County deputies is an understatement. JJ obtained police reports for all arrests at the address through a public records request. The reports state:
*February 20, 2023: Deputies arrested Shannon Norwood for aggravated domestic violence. RCSO received a call that a man was choking a woman. Deputies arrived at the home. The victim was dating Shannon. A friend came over to see the victim. While they were talking in the room, Shannon allegedly kicked open the door and charged the victim. He took away her pepper spray as she tried to defend herself. He grabbed her neck with both hands and held her up against the wall off of her feet. The police report states her throat had bruising and her voice was hoarse. Norwood was on house arrest and wore an ankle monitor.
*September 3, 2021: Deputies arrested Lenzie Braddy, Jr, 59 years old, for 1 count of sale/distribution of narcotics, i count of possession of drug paraphernalia, and possessing less than an ounce of marijuana. The police report states deputies found 3.5 grams of meth, a bag of weed, scales, and bags for packaging drugs. Braddy admitted the drugs were his.
* May 27, 2021: Michael Jenkins reported an auto burglary to RCSO. His 2016 Nissan Versa broke down on the side of Conerly Road in front of the home. Someone gave Jenkins permission to move the car to the driveway. Someone used a mechanized saw to enter the vehicle and also remove the catalytic converter. Jenkins was a frequent visitor to the home. Deputies asked him for names of possible suspects but Jenkins would not cooperate.
* March 25, 2021: Deputies arrested Braddy and Melvin Jenkins (45 years old) for the sale/manufacture of drugs. Braddy was under indictment for drug charges at the time. The report calls the home a "known problem house." Braddy's room had several grams of meth, scales, and packaging. Braddy tried to flee but was tasered. Jenkins had a pipe and meth.
* April 13, 2021: A 17 year old, O.W., was arrested for resisting arrest and possessing a controlled substance. He admitted to smoking weed in the home.
* January 19, 2021: Dantrell Hunter murdered Ashley McFarland by shooting her in the head. He is serving 30 years in prison for a conviction of second degree murder. Ashley Basham was arrested and charged as well but she is not in prison. The fate of her case is unknown.
* December 15, 2020: A caller said his fiance was held at gunpoint. However, there are no more records this incident nor was there an arrest.
* July 21,2020: RCSO received a call that a "nephew" was threatening to harm himself. Deputies and an ambulance went to the home.
An officer-involved shooting took place at the home late on January 24. An MBI press release states deputies were conducting a narcotics sweep when Michael Corey Jenkins allegedly displayed a gun. A deputy allegedly shot Jenkins in self-defense. Jenkins survived and was transported to the hospital for treatment of his wound.
Jenkins and his fellow defendant, Eddie Parker held a press conference near UMC on February 15. Jenkins' attorneys, Malik Shabazz and Trent Walker, aid no less than six white Rankin County deputies entered Eddie Parker's home at approximately 10 PM without a warrant. He said the deputies forced their way into the home and "immediately subdued and handcuffed" Jenkins and Parker. The two men did not resist in any way.
"What happened after they were detained was a 90 minute-long intimidation and torture session," charged Shabazz. He claimed the deputies repeatedly punched, kicked, and abused both men while they were handcuffed. Racial slurs were used. Shabazz said they deputies pointed guns at the heads of both men. The lawyer specifically called out Deputy Brent McAlpin and Deputy Christian Dedmon. However, Jenkins' lawyer was not through in accusing the police of outrageous conduct.
Shabazz
said the deputies subjected the Parker and Jenkins to water-boarding
techniques but used milk instead of water. More torture followed the
alleged milk-boarding as a deputy allegedly placed his gun inside
Jenkins' mouth and pulled the trigger. Jenkins sported a rather large
bandage on the right side of his neck after he was released on February 14. Shabazz said the bullet exited
through that section of the neck. Shabazz said Jenkins suffered permanent damage to his eye, cognitive damage, and other permanent injuries.
The Justice Department, FBI, and MBI are investigating the case as well.
Kingfish note: The deputies were obviously frustrated with the ongoings (not to be confused with downgoings) at the Braxton home for quite some time. The question is whether they got stupid and went too far. Stay tuned because we are going to be hearing about this case quite a bit in the future.

I would say the actions the police are accused of are a bit more than “stupid”. Like this house had a reputation with the police, the Rankin County Sheriffs also have a reputation for heavy handed and illegal conduct. Would you care to write an article about that? There was even an article this week about how they broke the law and decided they didn’t need to follow FOIA requests.
I'm writing my own story about it. I'm not regurgitating MT's article.
Now 6 deputies will be added to the list of crimes.
When a person is in distress a search warrant is not required. It's called "exigent circumstances."
Shabazz is a racist lying hustler trying to cash in.
@3:14 - I thought the police said they were there for a drug raid. Did they not even have a warrant? Looks like Rankin County Sheriffs saw that list of crimes at the house and said hold my beer amateurs.
Allegations are piling up on this agency and I don’t mean with just this current shooting. This guy has ran his Dept like a dictator nothing black or white all gray! If any underling dare spoke up about wrong doing they were fired and then excommunicated from the metro LEO community. J.B. Torrence and Lloyd Jones don’t work anymore .
Telling that the new admin at DPS/MBI said he’ll naw ! Passed this hot potato quick fast and in a hurry!
Shabazz is the least of the Rankin County Board of Supervisors problems, sure he ll cost them a helluva lot of money, Biden’s DOJ is the is about to End careers.
As a white Rankin countian in LE I get the feeling this situation was not over some old dope boys.
KF give us a few morsels! Don’t be holding out!
Thanks for having the guts to take this on!
Hopefully at the end of this, rankin county sheriffs office will be taken over by the feds. They have a long history of lawlessness and it’s clearly engrained in the culture.
It’s just the perception of mayhem and murder.
Yep. That little sawed off dictator in Brandon is about to eat some crow. About damn time too!
Exit wound out the back of a mouth is pretty questionable.
RCSO would hold their own against any gang in the state. They dgaf and know they have their fellow members to back them up no matter what they do. Decades of lawlessness and they will never change. These officers need to have their charges upgraded for their gang affiliation.
I have not seen a pic where there is an entrance wound anywhere on his face so try explaining that gun wasn’t in his mouth…. Don’t worry, I’ll wait….
I don’t believe half of this crap as RCSD has always been professional!
Yep, let's take a lesson from weak LEO's under leftist rule:
Portland
Memphis
Jackson
New Orleans
Houston
Chicago
Birmingham
Cleveland
Naw, I'll just stay in Rankin.
Was Braxton Family Values filmed there?

This is isn’t about liberal politics.
5:23
Ok Mr RCSO deputy who wants a promotion.
Attn 5:39PM, I think Cleveland Ms. Is a well run college town, and probably the best town in the Mississippi delta.
I thought Braxton was in Simpson County??
"RCSO would hold their own against any gang in the state. They dgaf and know they have their fellow members to back them up no matter what they do. Decades of lawlessness and they will never change."
Whoah! You said Rankin. WHEW! I thought sure you wuz talking about Madison Count S.O. Those junior-league LEOs stick together like velcro and stick tighter when up against the wall and guilty.
I hope if what has been alleged did indeed occur, justice will be swift, they receive the punishment deserved, and never allowed to be a LEO ever again, in any capacity. Also, if the allegations against the deputies is proven to be untrue, I would hope they get just as much positive press clearing their names and their accusers held accountable for their actions. Sadly, these days, consequences for bad behavior (either way) seems to be an unheard of concept.
One more thing and I'll shut up. If I had to make an informed guess, with the exception of a couple of posts in this thread, the commenters appear to be people who have found themselves on the wrong side of the RCSO and didn't like how it turned out. If that be the case, all I can offer is maybe make better decisions next time. I think Forrest said it best, "Stupid is as stupid does." Of course, that applies to both sides.
Kudos to RCSO. That's what's wrong with our legal system. The punishment has not kept up with crime.
Kick ass, take names, arrest the survivors.
I’m thankful that RCSO steps up and tries to shut down drug houses like this. This is a nice, quiet neighborhood and those frequenting this house have wreaked havoc.
hey 4:07..JB Torrence and Llyod Jones are two of the best sheriffs to ever serve.
Law and Order men- non of this liberal BS.. read 5:39 for a primer!
I live in Hinds County and I’ll be the first to say we need changes. We used to have a great SO but through color of skin it has become liberal. With Jackson being the murder capital of the US tells me that criminals are not scared of the law over here. Rankin is trying to keep that type of crime to a minimum. There will always be drugs and crime because that’s human nature nowadays but I’m packing up and moving soon to Rankin. My question is to those of you who don’t like the heavy handed justice in Rankin. Would you want your family to be protected by which SO, Hinds or Rankin?
Well, we need law and order. Sounds like that house was a haven for criminals. They should have just done it like the scene from Yellowstone where they took out the meth lab trailer.
"Hopefully at the end of this, rankin county sheriffs office will be taken over by the feds."
I'm not aware of any statute that would allow it. Are you?
I thought Braxton was in Simpson County??
The Town of Braxton is in Simpson....but there are mail routes that run out of Braxton into Rankin County.
7:34, Braxton itself is in Simpson county. This is a rural area in southeast Rankin county that is served by Brandon, Mendenhall, and Braxton post offices.
"Two wrongs don't make a right".
I expect those who enforce the law to respect the law and the law includes self-defense.
There is no just side to take if the Sheriff's department violated the law.
I'm waiting for facts and evidence.
But,if you want the law to allow " in kind" revenge without legal repercussions, I know some women who would be thrilled for a " get out of jail free" card.
I live in Rankin country but do not have to worry about them coming into my neighborhood. A meth dealer lives a couple of blocks from me. He always lets everyone know when the sheriffs office is going to send someone through our neighborhood. He gets a call from someone in the sheriffs office alerting him. Maybe those people should have gotten in touch with his person.
It sounds like Rankin County citizens support their law enforcement committing crimes. Maybe they should secede, that way the pesky constitution doesn’t prevent them from having their police state paradise.
Just wondering, apropos of nothing... Is it possible for law firms to contract for jailed Chinese Dissidents, to "help control Internet discourse"? Do the "three-letters" have slush funds for hiring "operatives" who'll litter the Internet with posts hostile to those targeted by Marxist law firms?
Do Marxist law firms keep interns busy, making posts hostile to those targeted by those firms? Do washed-up semi-retired old alcoholic lawyers with degrees from jokeschool law schools, hire-out, charging by-the-post, to litter the Internet with garbage posts against the targets of Marxist law firms?
Not that I'm saying the majority of the above posts seem to be from those sorts of entities or anything....
7:16 Cleveland is referring to OH IMO
This area is home to a group of bad players. Two of my “former” employees live there and are felons. Both served time at Parchman. Both still deal and make drugs for the banditos and run a theft ring. Leave it to Rankin SO to get rid of this type of crap. They are sick and tired of having to deal with this scum. You would be too if you were in their shoes. They are doing us ALL a favor. Remember that when you keep drugs off the street you keep one less kid from getting hooked.
I have no problem with the state invoking capital police in Jackson.
I also have no problem with vigilante justice if that's what it takes to ensure civility and civilian safety. And if vigilantly justice bleeds over into our uniformed constabulary, so be it.
It's past time we quit coddling or ignoring meth-head criminals, gang-bangers and thugs set on destroying society.
Medieval crime demands medieval justice. Turn loose the hounds.
If you don’t like the law enforcement in Rankin County, move to Hinds County. I could care less if they roughed some criminals up.
5:39 You seem to overlook the States with the highest murder and crime rates as well as RED cities... Little Rock, Milwaukee, Anchorage, Albuquerque and Rockford,IL.
You also seem to think that the State laws and funding have zero to do with crime. You overlook how long Biloxi was home to the Dixie Mafia. And, you currently overlook how in a State with a very small African American percentage, crime soared during GOP governorship ( see North Carolina...particularly the East of Raleigh and the mountains... the worst crime counties were always home to some of your favorite members of Congress over the years and home to the KKK and BUND).
Here's the truth: Crime and violence is directly related to poverty, brain dysfunction, poor education and/or addiction in EVERY RACE OR RELIGION.
Even our "evil" geniuses get caught eventually and could have just enjoyed being rich. Are you so poorly read or deluded that I have to name them?
10:14; Since you seem to be fond of numbers, perhaps you will cypher and report the number of Red (as opposed to Blue) large cities and states across America that are over-run by crime and have been for decades.
Will you suggest those facts (once you discover them) are simply parenthetical, happenstance, irrelevant, coincidental with democrat leadership and demographics?
@10:14 - You are spreading fake news, just like a good dem.
Anchorage - Blue - majority voted for Biden. Dem mayor.
Little Rock - Blue 60.5% voted for Biden
Milwaukee - Blue 76% voted for Biden
Albuquerque - Blue 61.3% voted for Biden
Rockford - Blue 50.3% voted for Biden

I guess I do need you to do that since you screwed up so royally on the cities you claim are 'red'.
I won't say you're 'poorly read' or 'deluded', but you did lie with your list.
Criminals are criminals! It’s just that simple! Who knows if they officers got to serious? I don’t believe so I bet after that incident at that house that things will settle down not be dangerous to the community! That’s all that matters in my book! We don’t have to fear for our lives like those in hinds county! The lack of leadership and proper management of law enforcement is why Jackson is trash and always will be!
