Hinds County District Attorney Jody Owens issued the following statement.
Hinds County District Attorney Jody E. Owens II, announces the successful apprehension, and safe return to Hinds County, of fugitive Jocquize Williams.
Earlier this month, Williams, who was completing a sentence in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections (MDOC) was inadvertently released from MDOC custody prior to being transferred to Hinds County where he was wanted on charges of murder.
Williams was successfully and safely apprehended in Lauderdale County, MS by officers with the Lauderdale County Sheriff's Office.
Today, the Hinds County Sheriff’s Department, in coordination with Lauderdale County, has successfully returned Williams to Hinds County.
“I want to thank Sherriff Sollie and Sherriff Jones, and the brave men and women of their respective departments, for their tireless work in ensuring that Williams was returned to Hinds County to face justice for his crimes” DA Owes said.
Williams is being held at the Hinds County Detention Center on the charge of murder while his case is being prepared to be presented to the Hinds County Grand Jury.
“While the circumstances of Williams release were unfortunate, there was never a doubt that Williams would be safely apprehended and returned to Hinds County to face justice,” DA Owens said.

Owens rushes quickly to the fore to perform a CYA dance.
Now that he's back in custody, wonder how quickly he'll be out on bond, which will probably be low.
"Sherriff Sollie" = Sheriff Solie
"Sherriff Jones" = Sheriff Jones
"DA Owes" = DA Owens
"there was never a doubt that Williams would be safely apprehended" Now the DA's got esp? Very nice!

Nothing about apple pies on window sills and '57 Chevrolets? He must think he was the point man in charge of some regionally assembled swat team acting at his command.
What's up with all of these atrocious grammar and spelling mistakes?
I wonder if the new artificial intelligence programs could help some of our less verbally inclined elected officials communicate more effectively.
He wasn’t inadvertently released. Hinds County never sent a hold to MDOC so they would know he had a detainer and couldn’t have had him on NCIC either.
