Walker's Drive In posted the following message on Facebook.
Walker’s Fans!
I’m Joe Cravens, and I’m excited to be the new executive chef/owner at Walker’s Drive In!
First of all, I want to express my gratitude to Derek and Jennifer Emerson for the kind words, well wishes and for the many months of support I’ve received from them as we’ve been planning this transition. Their legacy will be carried on at Walker’s, and we will not take for granted this road they have paved for one of Mississippi’s most beloved restaurants. Thank you for putting your trust in me. I won’t let you down!
Second to the faithful Walker’s fans, I hear you. I, too, am one of you. Your favorites are probably my favorites, and they’re not going anywhere! Stay tuned for the addition of a pasta special though!
Over the next few days, we are going to be closed for repainting, redecorating and reroofing. The temporary closure during this time of year is traditional for Walker’s to give staff a well-deserved break. Speaking of staff, you’ll still see many familiar faces bringing out your tamales, portobello fries, filets, Redfish Annas and telling you all about our mouthwatering specials! Our general manager, Taylor Greenhill, has been on staff for a long time and is ready to handle your catering and private events.
We can’t wait to serve you starting July 11. Book your reservations on Resy anytime. Our goal is to begin lunch service starting July 15. Stay tuned!
Walker’s: Refined Dining, Rooted in Tradition. We look forward to stepping up to the plate and continuing that tradition for many more years to come.

I’m excited about Derek opening the new spot in Jackson at the district. Burgers and tacos!!! Glad the NE Jackson surgeon and this chef went in on walkers.
Such good news! Best wishes for more decades of success!
I’ll be there like clock work.
What is the new building under construction beside Walker's?
I've been told it's a piano bar. Early stages had it looking like a shed.
We keep Walker's and get new restaurants. A win for Jackson!
"Executive chef" in a drive-in. Who knew? Maybe he is an alumnus of the famous Le Cordon Bleu culinary school, W. Jackson campus.
11:26 - Obviously you've never been to Walker's.
to the wise ass at 7;26...actually hes a grad of culinary institute of america, a/k/a CIA, in hudson new york.
you had better stick to the places where they ask ''do you want fries with that''?
Good. Hope he stands out since we have enough Jeff Good wannabes already around here.
Will they keep the Redfish Anna? I hear that was Emmerson's favorite!
Yes. If you actually read the statement to the end you’d a saved a lot of time.
Pretty sure Redfish Anna was on the menu before Emerson bought it.
"I’m excited about Derek opening the new spot in Jackson at the district. Burgers and tacos"
I trust that statement was offered tongue-in-cheek. The Metro sure does need a few more burger joints and Mexican offerings.
Pardon my ignorance, but did anybody ever re-open at Bonefish?
2:12. & 3:20, I think that was the joke. Apparently you don’t know the whole story.
4:45 I think I saw a new sign on it yesterday.
Piano bar? Looks like a large exhaust vent for a kitchen was installed so I thought it’d be an eatery of some sort.
