State Auditor Shad White issued the following statement.
Today State Auditor Shad White announced that Special Agents from his office have arrested Patrick Harris, a former Centreville Police Officer, for allegedly embezzling funds from the Town of Centreville Police Department by taking three semi-automatic pistols and selling them to a pawn shop. Harris allegedly pawned his assigned pistol to a pawn shop. A few months later, Harris also allegedly took two pistols from the evidence/property room and pawned them off as well.“We have zero tolerance for thievery of taxpayer dollars, big or small,” said State Auditor Shad White. “We will continue to work hand in hand with prosecutors to ensure your money is spent the way it should be.” If convicted Harris faces up to $5,000 in fines and up to 20 years in prison. All persons arrested by the Mississippi Office of the State Auditor are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Centreville PD: 3 officers. 1/3 of the PD are suspected thieves. Shad's crew busted a crime wave.
Shad's tolerance level seems to vary depending on one's position in the political hierarchy.
3:29 isn't it good to know that no matter how small the department, wrong is still wrong.
Indeed.
He sold his duty weapon. What did he use then, a cap pistol? Squirt gun?
3:53 is correct.
Does a town really have a 3-person police department? That's ridiculous and wasteful. Let the county sheriff police that Podunk town.
A cop selling his own gun. Dude must have a serious drug addiction.
Truer words have never been spoken - thank you.
Small Fish. Go after the whales.
That's the least criminal act committed by the Centreville PD.
Exactly. There are dozens of towns in MS that shouldn't even be incorporated. Little power trips and rice bowls.
3:53 You are on the money. Unfortunately for Shad, most folks are very aware of this.
Meanwhile, a former governor and a famous NFL quarterback get to skate on Shad's watch.
Just a glimpse of what a Shad gubernatorial administration would be like.
