C19 Sneaks into Ole Miss Football Team

The Oxford Eagle reports several Ole Miss players have the Covid-19 virus.  Coach Lane Kiffin refuses to call it an outbreak.  Read the story.

Florida caught it bad enough they cancelled their game. Dan Mullen should have kept his mouth shut - karma got him with swiftness.

So a player with no symptoms tests positive, and others exposed to him must sit out as well? Dumb.

Speaking of karma, does stealing signals from Saban/Alabama have anything to do with this COVID outbreak?

What's dumb is thinking that someone who is asymptomatic is not a threat to others who could get gravely ill from being around them.

"does stealing signals from Saban/Alabama have anything to do with this COVID outbreak?"

Nah, that's only good intelligence on the football field.

Covid has nothing to do with any team stealing signals.

Are you that naive ?

The only dumb thing, 2:55, is your comment. Having symptoms is not how you transmit the virus. Being positive is how you transmit it. Maybe you should "sit out" and let the educated adults in the room have this discussion. Dumb.

Ole Miss players have the Covid-19 virus.

Is anyone surprised ?

None of them, including Coach Lane Kiffin . . . were not following any protocol when they marched to the Lafayette County Court House screaming "no justice, no peace".

Whatever that means.

Any SEC football player is far more "privileged" than my my pale White ass.

Smack aside...Why are football players showing up with Wuhan? Seriously.

As a diehard MSU alumni and fan, I would like to offer my hopes, wishes and prayers that this is not a serious thing in Oxford. Praying for you guys. Stay healthy.

Nick Savanna has now tested positive. I guess it’s karma for lying about the signal stealing.

Following LSU and Florida and Missouri and Vanderbilt postponing their games scheduled for Saturday, Saban and AD Greg Byrne have tested positive for CV19. If this continues, it would not surprise me if the season was suspended.

Hey 4:31, if “ none of them were not following any protocol,”
That means they were following protocol.
You better watch those double negatives if you have a legit argument, they will get you every time.
Guessing you skipped that English class at MSU.

Damn. I thought they had all had it three times. This sucks. Go away Covid19. And 20 and 21

Asymptomatic transmission does not lead to widespread outbreaks.

@5:58 "double negatives" is a graduate level English class at MSU.

Gotta love it when someone like 4:31 makes a complete fool of themselves while also showing their white fragility.

9:21, that's a lie. ("Asymptomatic transmission does not lead to widespread outbreaks")

That is, Cletus, YES asymptomatic transmission is a major factor in spread of Covid 19, because it's NOT the flu or even Covid 1, because it's up the nostril and shedding tons of live virus before symptoms.

National Academy of Sciences: "We found that the majority of incidences may be attributable to silent transmission from a combination of the presymptomatic stage and asymptomatic infections. Consequently, even if all symptomatic cases are isolated, a vast outbreak may nonetheless unfold. We further quantified the effect of isolating silent infections in addition to symptomatic cases, finding that over one-third of silent infections must be isolated to suppress a future outbreak below 1% of the population. Our results indicate that symptom-based isolation must be supplemented by rapid contact tracing and testing that identifies asymptomatic and presymptomatic cases, in order to safely lift current restrictions and minimize the risk of resurgence."

Stop lying.

Boy this is an intellectual hotbed here. Time to wash your bed sheets ladies. The smell of fear is pungent among this group.

EVERYBODY is going to get it eventually. Postponing things, closing things, social distancing.... it is ALL crap. The people that will die will die. Life will go on for everyone else just like it does with any other virus or disease.

Maybe we can start blaming shitty field performance on Covid.

I can't help but notice that prevention measures are inconsistent throughout college football.

The NCAA should have listed protocols based on advice from CDC and strictly followed.

Shields on the helmets seem to be effective as well as having coaches who know that a mask is not a sound barrier. But, you need everybody to be following best practices.

Sadly, this virus has to only find one idiot.

Again, it seems that understanding that a mask protects others, not YOU, continues to be missed. A shield helps protect YOU. Have both , add cleaning your hands before touching your face and you have great survival odds and change clothes when you are around those who are stupid and your odds of not getting this until there's a vaccination is excellent.

I would remind the " deniers" that we don't know how long immunity lasts or why some get it again with a worse case. You deniers still miss that this is a mutating new virus. You miss that " viral load" could be a factor. Our knowledge is improving but we don't know enough yet for you deniers to be anything other than clueless.

What is certain is that Covidiots have may it harder to get this virus under control. All you had to do is stop travelling and shelter for two straight weeks and let our health dept. trace and quarantine, but you just couldn't do it.

Just dumb or dumbly so partisan you are willing to kill or disable others or die or become disabled yourself. Sadly, the virus isn't partisan.

There is no getting it under control. It has to run its course although we can mitigate the spread somewhat. We can tamper it down with shutdowns and masks but eventually it will take off again.

As for football, let's look at this reasonably. Chances of any football players suffering severe cases is low. Enough to require hospitalization even lower. These are students you don't have to worry about going home to family because let's face it, they are live in athletic dorms, have their own training tables and for the most part, are already kept in a segregated environment. They are young and pretty healthy. Clemson and LSU suffered outbreaks this summer but managed to keep on going.

@10:35... what is this magic "two weeks" you speak of? The government has "two weeks" us since the beginning of this thing. It didn't help. Everyone will get it eventually. PERIOD

YEP

10:35 "Sadly, this virus has to only find one idiot."

It finds intelligence and idiots alike. (See 7:22 post..."EVERYBODY")

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
