Twitter took a page out of 1984 and suspended the New York Post account because it didn't like some stories the newspaper published about Hunter Biden. Facebook and other social media companies banned sharing the Post articles but none went as far as Twittter did in actually banning the newspaper. Well, such tactics call for some good ole jackassery. The articles are linked below. Feel free to read to your heart's content, preferably over a drink or while eating your favorite medical marijuana gummy bear.
JJ hasn't mentioned much about the Presidential election this year as in years past. The race has been beaten to death in the media and there are plenty of state and local stories here in Mississippi to cover. However, there is one thing JJ does not like and that is a bully. The Post published the stories. Other publications such as the New York Times and New York Magazine published critical articles on the subject. That is fair. Just to show there is no bias in this post, the critical articles are linked below as well. Y'all are smart. You know how to read these stories as well as their criticisms and figure things out for yourselves.
Unfortunately, Jacklyn Dorsey doesn't think that much of you, the readers. Twitter at its best is a pioneer in communication. It can deliver instant news and videos from almost anywhere in the world. Such technology is welcome when natural disasters occur or when there is civil unrest such as what took place in Iran a few years ago. At its worst, Twitter is the sewer of the internet. Forget the bots. One malcontent can create multiple twitter accounts under fake names and proceed to trash, trash, trash. Anyone can make up anything while Jacklyn hides behind his Section 230.
What Dorsey did last week smacks of totalitarianism. Thanks to technology, a new class of Info Barons are taking more and more control of our society. Orwell and others feared government control of all information. What they did not foresee was the rise of these Info Barons. They can put the media out of business while controlling what news can be seen in ways that would make Pravda proud. Murdoch and Maxwell were amateurs compared to these guys. We are only a small step away from a future where the Info Barons dictate what news will not be covered if the media wants access to their platforms.
Yours truly has not read the articles in question. The comments are turned off because frankly, I'm watching football and I don't feel like moderating the food fights that will break out between Trumpsters and anti-Trumpers in the comments section. It's all posted below. Read at your own risk and make up your own minds. Au revoir.
Oh, Twitter reinstated the Post today. How nice.
