The Pearl Police Department issued the following statement.
Pearl Police Investigators have completed
their investigation of allegations between members of the high school
cross country team and found no evidence to support claims of sexual
assault. One of the two alleged victims
told investigators that they made-up the allegation.
Police have filed two complaints of simple assault and one complaint of lying to a police officer in youth court.
The Pearl Police Department would like to thank the
Pearl Public School District for its cooperation and coordination in
this investigation.
Since all parties involved are juveniles no additional details will be released.

Sucks for all of the coaches and trainers who have invested so much time and energy into such a highly successful track program. Tops in the state. I heard they cancelled all trips to away meets because of the allegations, which we find out now were BS.
I’m a female yet I’d advocate for some form of significant punishment for these false allegations.
These types of lies make real assaults less credible and can ruin the lives of those falsely accused.
It should not be taken lightly.
Also possible that someone got scared, threatened or embarrassed and didn't follow through. If there is truly no merit, it is a shame that the stigma will hold on for a while.

Now those kids know what it feels to be black.
