They said not a word.

The perfumed princes of Hinds County, oops, I meant the Hinds County Democratic Delegation of the Mississippi Legislature wailed to the heavens while gnashing their teeth in a letter that protested any state takeover of Jackson Public Schools . It is not known if they rent their garments although it is almost a certainty they were covered in ash.

JJ made this statement Friday and stands by it today:

The district needs to be blown up and rebuilt. Period.  Rip off the band-aids, tear up the contracts, consolidate schools, get rid of the cronies, and give those kids the education they deserve.  If that steps on some toes or hurts some feelings, oh well.  Most of the people protesting against a state takeover are more interested in protecting turf than educating Jackson's children.   The fight against the takeover is more about protecting their pals who are lining pockets, passing out jobs, and "working the system", education be damned.  They didn't say a word while JPS floundered for years.  The only thing they care about is whether some Republicans (code word alert) are going to interfere with their sweetheart deals. Protest & Protect is their motto.

The Governor should notice  it is the so-called community leaders who are protesting, not the  parents of the children who are incarcerated in the JPS prison.  They know their kids are getting a raw deal but are powerless to do anything about it.    They have no voice.  They aren't connected.  They just suffer.

It is funny yet sad how these political loudmouths are shrieking that a takeover "will have a detrimental economic impact on the Capital City, surrounding cities and schools, and the entire state."  These clueless ones have no grip on reality but it is past time to make them face reality.

The schools are rated F!!! That means businesses are not going to come to Jackson until the actual schools improve.  Jackson already suffers from a "detrimental economic impact" thanks to its pitiful school system.  Businesses read test scores too and know what they mean.   Conversely,  don't think the fact that four of the top sixteen public school districts in Mississippi surround Jackson goes unnoticed as well.

These REMF's never said a word as JPS imploded over the years.  Jackson's children suffered for years yet they said not a word.  JPS repeatedly hired incompetent or unqualified Superintendents yet they said not a word.  Money was showered on their bond pimp friends while kids went without books yet they said not a word.  Half of the third graders at several schools couldn't pass a simple reading test yet they said not a word.  Half the kids at some high schools couldn't even graduate yet they said not a word.  All of the middle schools received F's yet they said not a word (Sorry, special schools don't count.).  JPS kids performed poorly for years on statewide tests  yet they said not a word.   Children were beaten to a pulp and mothers brought guns to school yet they said not.a.word. However, they do say quite a few words when they attack the tests or any other standard used to hold Jackson public schools accountable.  Accountability is a foreign word to their lips as they scream for justice and fairness.  Such "leaders" are good at protesting, outstanding at protecting their buddies who line their pockets,  but not so good at leading.

What is even more sad is that there are some good people on this list.  People who have admitted to me in private the sorry state of Jackson public schools.  It is unfortunate that when push comes to shove, they flinch and fall in with the rest of the pack. There is a code of Omerta in the black community in Jackson that stifles debate and dissent.  Accusations of "sellout" and "Uncle Tom" are feared more than the prospect of a whole generation of children that can't read.  They hurt their own children more than they hurt the "Republicans" (code word alert) with their protests but don't expect them to understand that little bit of reality and that, my friends, is the bottom line.

You have done an excellent job in reporting all that it happening. But you stated it when the black community pretty much stick together rather than solve the problem. I wish I had the answer but these people don’t care about the children or their own children. I cannot employ anyone who has been through the JPS system. They are untrainable.

Hey Dorsey, ask David Blount why he bailed his kids out of JPS over to St. Andrews. Love these Donkeycrat hypocrites.

David is tying to become a black man and lead the D party to a victory but he will learn the hard lesson as others before him.

Think about it @10:59.

All the lib whiteys with kiddies @ McWillie know right now they'll be jumping ship when Chastain rolls around. They ABUSE JPS by taking up a hallowed and scarce Montessori slot that could otherwise be used by a needy but capable black Jackson child. They make the PROBLEM WORSE, not better. They suck upward educational capacity out of the system then hightail it for the privates or a non-JPS public school. They and their kids ARE the JPS brain drain even if they don't abandon Jackson itself. That is EXACTLY what Blount did. THOSE ARE the public school system white flighters Donner and the other SJW snowflakes should focus their ire upon. But Donner is compromised by their money too so she says not a word beyond, as Kingfish notes, the acceptable line.

They sure are proud of the fact that they purchased 44 buses with GPS. They trot that little achievement out in every letter, news story, hearing etc.
I wouldn't be so proud of the fact that I can now get the students on time to unsafe, dilapidated, understaffed on teachers, not enough textbooks, F rated schools....it goes on and on.

Understand this is about maintaining the status quo in a turf battle. The change might have a severe economic impact on their friends and supporters who depend on maintaining the present bullshit system.(Jobs) Most, if not all, these same people do not and would not send their kids to JPS. They know it's screwed up, but at least they control it.(They control the jobs) The Black community is so distrustful of anything coming from state authority and not endorsed by their trusted democrats that they don't know how to organize without them. It's pitiful because most want change but wait on the pimps to make change. The pimps will make no change that lessens their control of the jobs. And so it goes...

Senator Blount's is one of the most egregious gerrymandered Senate districts in Mississippi.

Exactly what do they think having schools where kids graduate and cannot read or sign their name will do?

@ 11:19 - is EVERYTHING.....EVERY THING in life "whitey's" fault? Really?? You fault a parent for doing the best he can for his child....because he is white??? Maybe THAT is the problem that needs to be solved!!! Instead of finding fault with the parent who is actively involved in his child's education, who pushes his child to success, and who FINDS the resources his child needs to achieve that success, how about faulting the parent who does NOT do those things??? We're talking PUBLIC SCHOOLS here! If there are resources available to the "liberal whitey" child, those very same resources are AVAILABLE to the black child. But SOMEBODY has to point the child in the right direction and SOMEBODY has to be there all along the way to mentor the child, etc. Usually, that SOMEBODY is the parent. If capable black kids in the city of Jackson aren't taking advantage of the programs AVAILABLE there for them, blame THEIR parents instead of the parents of the kids who ARE taking that advantage. Really!

"A detrimental economic impact on the Capital City"?

Are there companies out there thinking, "You know, we should really relocate our regional headquarters into a crumbling, crime-infested ruin with F rated schools and a history of black nationalists running the government. But if the state takes over the school district, forget it. Deal's off."?

Are there parents thinking, "I'm fine with junior attending an F rated school with constant fights and 50% teacher turnover. But if the state takes over the district, forget it. I'm moving to Clinton."?

So many problems. So many experts.

I'm surprised the state flag isn't mentioned--

@12:09pm Here's the rub that you are sorely missing with the white libs loving public school until they get to Chastain; they champion themselves as loving all people, especially minorities while calling every republican, conservative or resident that lives outside Jackson a racist. Let's just ignore that they do this without facts. It's what the media and Daily Kos tell them to do. Yet, when it is time to truly immerse their little snowflake into the 98% minority/majority they won't do it. It's called hypocrisy! And it is extremely racists. Almost more so than a KKK'er at a march. At least you know where they stand. With the white lib you don't.

"The perfumed princes of Hinds County" - I don't care who you are, that's funny right there.

I'll say it again...WHO....CARES!?!? School was meant to be skipped, geniuses and titans of industry in this world never benefited from any school book lesson. The teachers that I had in school were one step above the criminally insane...a little lazier and dumber than your average burglar.

SCHOOL'S OUT FOREVER

Teachers are not the real heroes, I believe the real heroes are the real heroes. They get the same 3-month vacation as a child, they are twice as tall as everyone at work. All they do is create problems for students! It's the students that are the real heroes!!

What do you really even need to teach, say the 5th grade? A 6th grade education!! Anything beyond that and you are overqualified.

The Govener understands the the takeover would be an enormous task. You not only take over the learning aspect, but the facilities And everything involved facilities, security etc.
I suggest the legislative arm and politicians that don't not want the takeover, give them a year to improve what they don't want you to do! There are asking for it, give it to them!
As we say, " we can handle our own people".

Also, if the Dept of Ed does not take over JPS, forget about taking over, any school!!!

***Applause*** for 12:15's comment. You nailed it.

Asking JPS system to fix this problem is like asking the American Accounting Association to help simplify the tax code so that all taxpayers can file on a one page form. It ain't going to happen.

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
