I knew the establishment as Bill's Coin Stamp & Jewelry. It had been around for a while. The owner had a good reputation in coin trading.
I am sickened by this.

3 families are suffering this morning. What has this world come to? Is jackson this full of evilness?

I bought coins in there many times. Nice and friendly men. They will be missed.

The scum of the earth who wants what you have - whether your purse in the driveway, billfold while working in your yard, or at work generating your OWN income. Subhuman species needs to be removed from society. They should be exterminated immediately when caught and proven guilty.

What a tragedy I new all 3 and I know that Mr. Bill helped a lot of people, and offered a service to many when they were down & out. What a shame... What has the city become ???

I knew Bill and Robert for many, many years. What a heinous act. I am shocked and saddened but not surprised. An amazing coincidence that no one saw anything or called the police.

And RSS's office just lost four murder cases in a row.

Each man was shot once and there is no indication by JPD or any news outlet that these men were armed to protect themselves or if they were able to get a shot off. Makes you wonder how all of this transpired. Normally a business owner in jackson would have a weapon on themselves.

Now, JPD can catch some prostitutes and pimps.....let's see if they can investigate this one and make arrests.

I think we can probably assume at least one of them was armed. Standard for pawn shop owners.

Wonder if Stokes would be this quiet if three blacks were murdered in their business by a white? (odds are that a black male committed this crime...city crime statistics would say that is more probable than not).

Waiting to hear from the usual it-happens-everywhere trolls about how Jackson is a big city and you have to accept a certain number of old men being gunned down. Because that's what happens in the big city, right?

I'm waiting for one of the usual suspects to tell us that these men being murdered is not a real problem and only a matter of perception.

Jackson, Mississippi, our once safe, neat, clean well kept Capitol City! Not anymore! It is now nasty, crime ridden, a haven for thugs; looks like a third world country. Who would want to go there, do business there; least of all live there? No leadership, no law enforcement to speak of, nothing; just a vast wasteland. It's just a matter of time before it implodes within itself. Maybe that's what it will take for people to wake up and realize that what is going on now is not working!

So sorry for the families suffering today and for a long time to come. This is truly a tragedy. Chances are, given the location, the perpetrator/s, were thugs. Anyone who would do this has no conscience nor regard for life. I hope they are caught and tried and given the death penalty. Chances are they have killed before. I disagree with the ones saying that we have "no law enforcement". Untrue. JPD is full of excellent, dedicated officers.

Most of them are DESPERATE to get out of Jackson. Businesses ARE getting out, as fast as they can. But as a resident of Madison, I wish most of them would stay where they are. I like my community's unique character, and RESENT those who would come here, expecting to find (or create) another Jackson (minus the crime).

The LAST thing I want, is for Jackson to die. We dine there, when we have time. We shop there (although the "Jersey Shore re-do" of Highland Village, is bleak and depressing). And we donate our time and money, to help keep the Capital City alive. But truly: the next time I hear some dinky little transplant, from a tacky little Williamsburg saltbox in Jackson, complaining about how hoity-toity things are, here in Madison, I may just knock him/her flat. If you think we're too fancy here, then PLEASE don't move-in amongst us. Move to Byram. Move to Pearl. Move to Richland - because, if you can't take the Corinthian columns, you need to keep your dinky little repressed ass out of Madison.

He should have hired someone from the community to spot trouble.

Very sad. I wondered why they remained at that location considering that such evil has overrun the entire city of Jackson. I actually wake up every morning and do my happy dance celebrating having moved north after decades of watching with disgust the decline of what once was a fine place to raise a family.

7:12, you are very wrong. The city limits of Jackson are a pencil line on a map. Once a criminal crosses those lines on a map they are in a sanctuary city for criminals. The surrounding cities try their best to control crime but have to depend on the law enforcement of Jackson to keep their criminals within their city limits. The law enforcement of Jackson fail miserably. They along with the leadership of Jackson puts citizens in other cities at risk with their criminal sanctuary city.

With a crime rate well above Detroit the city of Jackson is putting people in other cities at risk. Jackson start enforcing laws or encourage the honest law enforcement of other cities to help.

That time came at least ten years ago. Don't look for it to happen one day. It has already happened.

I was in the same boat. I do a happy dance too; every day. I left Jackson just a few months ago. It was a real struggle selling. I had to contend with the Yahoo clay, over 200 houses For Sale in my area, water pipe issues, 4 price reductions, high taxes, failing schools and high crime. My house stayed on the market 2&1/2 years. I didn’t nearly get what the house was worth, but I am so thankful to get a little something. I moved to Rankin county and I love it over here. It really was like leaving a 3rd world city. You might think it strange but I believe it was a small miracle getting a buyer. I feel bad leaving my neighbors behind; however, they all are now beginning to see the writing on the wall. Jackson is the 5th circle of hell in Dante’s Inferno. I did business with Bill several times. He was a nice honest hard working generous man. I hope the police find the killer and execute them. If they need someone to give the lethal injection I will proudly do it.

I am so saddened and mad at the same time. I routinely stopped by at lunch to talk and occasionally pick up a few old coins and civil war bills. The guys were always friendly and I considered them friends. Many times I was there when some person needed help financially. They were always kind and considerate. They cared and today that is rare. May the Holy Spirit comfort their families in this time of sorrow. Jackson has lost its way and only through a true revival and turning toward Jesus Christ will anything get better! The city of Jackson and its citizens need your daily prayers.

And by the way, I wish the "press" would quite referring to Bill's as a"Pawn shop" as it was mostly rare, numismatic Coins / rare stamps/ 1st day of issue stamps/ they bought & sold gold & silver coins/ and all type of collectibles.

Jackson will not get better until gentrification occurs and pushes/ displaces the "culture of poverty" mindset residents including the non-tax payers OUT of Jackson, thus decreasing crime in the city. In order to do this, Jackson needs private real estate investors, private developers, entrepreneurs, & capitalists to "invest/gentrify" entire zip codes in Jackson, not the pseudo, government sponsored "developers" the city currently does business with. It will happen in the next 10-15 years, trust and believe. Until then, let Jackson go down the toilet so the real investors can capitalize on the cheap land and home prices.

I'm a native Jacksonian that cut all ties with my hometown back in the mid 90's. I relate and agree with all things that are wrong with Jackson.

But I ask . . . can we save our bitching for another day ?

Next weekend is Christmas.

Instead of looking forward to celebrating Christmas with Grand Paw, these men's wives, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren are now talking to Wright & Ferguson Funeral Home about arrangements.

@7:03...My God...this is why I don't eat, shop, or support Madison in any way. You people are living in oblivion. Can you not see the steady march of all that is Jackson coming through Ridgeland and squeezing you between Canton and the Reservoir...maybe you have ten years...maybe. And the brick and colonnade architecture is the perfect allegory for your whole situation, just a facade. FYI, all those fake columns look ridiculous...makes most of the buildings look like some New Orleans pimps vision of an antebellum whore house.

I don't see this reported anywhere but this happened almost directly across the street from the police supply store.

Am I the only one that thinks that this had to be an inside job? Those three men knew whoever did this and were killed so that they couldn't identify them. Not only did they know how to disable the surveillance system, they knew how to remove it. I would suggest that the police check out former employees.

Instead of spending police money on new police cars (Challengers & Chargers) they need to buy Hi resolution security cameras & place them along every block of the city. When a crime is commit the police can review the video of the coming & goings of suspects and solve more crimes. This is done in England and the streets are safer than ones in America. Than,let the ACLU, CORE, AL Sharpton, Jessie Jackson run to federal court & try to stop the installations. They above mentioned organizations have destroyed the blacks by the millions. That is why all the people who despise blacks give generously to these outfits. What a Twisted world it is . I will cocoon in my little casa & watch this it go to hell. Door was never locked anytime I went there. They may have unlocked it when they saw me coming. I do have that honest look.

I'm out---my wife and I moved our business to Flowood and we sold our home in Belhaven in 5 days and got within $3,500 of the asking price so things aren't as bad in all areas of Jackson. We were very lucky and we know it---we now reside in East Rankin County in the middle of no where---not for me !!! Thank God it's temporary---and then we are going to move out of this State forever. I left here in 1972 and moved back in 1987---what a terrible mistake. I have encouraged all my children to leave Mississippi and they have moved to East Tennessee and love it---they won't come back here ever.

It's not fair to compare east TN to the Jackson area.. Kinda like saying heaven and hell.

I've been going to bill's coin shop for almost 20 years and was always treated very nicely. They all took the time to get to know you and you always felt welcome in the shop.. I would like to send my sympathies out to their families.. It was a very terrible and cruel way to die

It breaks my heart to hear someone say that it was most likely a black person!!! If you had known the men that were excuted there at all!! That would have hurt them tremendously!!! They saw no color!!! God Bless Bill, Ted, and Bob!!!

All three of these men were extremely nice men and treated everyone nice. I once heard Bill say that the N word was not allowed in his store. I knew then for almost 20 years and they will be missed.

What a tradgey for all families!! Mr. Bill always had weapons on him!!! I know this for a fact!! There is something very strange about this!!! They were all very good men!!!! It's so sad that the cowards ambushed them!! Otherwise they would not have stood a chance!!! Low, low WHITE TRASH!!!! This didn't happen because of that part of town!
