Yup. The Hinds County District Attorney is trying to subpoena the prosecutor as a witness. Hinds County D.A. Robert Shuler Smith subpoenaed Mississippi Attorney General Jim Hood to testify at his criminal trial that begins today. The A.G. immediately filed a motion to quash the subpoena.
Mr. Hood argued
As stated, it appears that the Defendant intends to solicit testimony from the Attorney General and other witnesses regarding the alleged motivations of the State’s prosecutors and argue to the jury that the prosecution is vindictive, selective, retaliatory or the product of otherwise improper motives. A defense of improper prosecution must be raised pre-trial and is a matter committed to the decision of the trial judge and not the jury....
the Defendant now desires to improperly place the issue of the prosecution’s motive before the jury. “[E]vidence of a prosecutor’s vindictive motive is inadmissible at trial, because a prosecutor’s motive is independent whether a defendant is guilty or innocent.”....
However, the Attorney General subpoenaed Attorney Jim Waide to testify at trial. Mr. Waide represents Robert Shuler Smith.

What an idiot, RSS is. The best advice you can get, go sit down and hush for a while.
Have to try any and everything to beat this rap....
If he does...watch out
Jamie McBride's case dismissed!!!!!!!!
The attempt to pressure Jamie McBride though a criminal indictment into doing something unethical is something that should give every law abiding citizen very real concern. Any of us could be abused in the same way at any time.
2:51 - If McBride is half the lawyer you people think he is, there's no way he would fall for entrapment or coercion. Don'tcha think he would have told them to kiss his ass if he were straight up and not worried and as excellent an esquire as you suggest he is? Of course he would have. If he were innocent and knew there could not possibly be any evidence to the contrary there is no way he would have taken a deal.
Never ever put your fate in the hands of a Hinds County jury, even if you are innocent, if you are white.
7:30 There was no "deal" except McBride said once again as he always said that if called he would testify truthfully. Essentially the AG gave up the witch hunt when it came time for trial. You do not know what happened or what you are talking about.
@ 7:30 You must be a part of the legal team for McSpinless. Well I hope Mr. Jellyfish can hold his head up high knowing that he completely screwed over his friends.
Exactly which friends would that be? You seem to have a hard on for McBride. I suspect you're just jealous that your sad little life doesn't measure up to the good he has done in getting scum off the streets.
10:03, sorry but I have to ask. Are we talking about the same man? It is a very short list of scum that has been removed from the streets. If you will read back that is the reason for all of this bullshit. Scum were buying their way out of jail with the help of people like McBride.
You have two choices. Things happened with his knowledge and help or because of his ignorance and willingness to ignore it.
