@3:21 - They're sorta like scrubs...

Where is his stethoscope? I thought doctors always have one draped around the neck.

3 females huh...wonder what he got to right those scripts.

WLBT reported the woman has a "hold" placed on her for possible parole violations. Man.....he sure picked a winner there!

Dr.: Hi Mom and Dad. This is my new girlfriend.

Mom: where did you 2 meet?

Dr.: oh, she came to the ER, and I wrote her a prescription and we just hit it off. Oh, by the way. Can you not tell Dad she was in prison?

Maybe he surrendered his stethoscope at the same time he surrendered his medical license.....at the time of his arrest.

So, did the three women ALL go to the pharmacy TOGETHER, to get their prescriptions filled? Were the other two named 'Courtney' and 'Brittni'?

I guess it's illegal for a physician to write a prescription these days. Gotta be more.to this story. Surely.

Moving to Jackson to get away from this Rankin county crime.

Mississippi Prescriptions are now On-Line. This will help prevent doctor shopping and also help prevent prescription writers from abusing that privilege. Prescription drugs can make people just as impaired as illegal drugs. I feel sorry for this doctor as he is most likely addicted too. But, I am glad that the online records will help prevent drug abuse.

I just took a RX to the cvs and handed it to the pharmacist.

It was a controlled Rx.

Not all are on line now.

May be headed that way....but not as of yesterday.

Go ahead and shoot yourself in the foot beforehand @7:50 and don't forget your waders so you don't inadvertently step in any of the surface sewage. All your funny little quips ain't stopping the exodus of taxpayers out of Jackghanistan's shrinking pool of the same. But if you are intent to moving back you'll find an ample supply of housing to purchase since existing NEJ homeowners looking to abandon the city can't give their houses away. 10 times the supply, 1/10th the demand.

Controlled substances not online.

Anonymous said...

@8:36 - Do you believe it isn't on-line after it is filled?

Anonymous said...

Prescription monitoring program (PMP)is available to all prescribers and pharmacists. Every controlled substance prescription is logged into the system by patient and prescriber names. Doctors can easily check patients who are seeing multiple physicians for narcotic prescriptions. DEA, or as in this case, a pharmacist, looks at prescribing habits of physicains and can report them to law enforcement

Anonymous said...

@9:38PM Dr. Tincher was certainly aware of the PMP. My question is WHY did he risk everything knowing he would probably get caught? SMH

See 9:38's accurate statement.

Is there another name for a "Merit Health" hospital in Brandon?

Anonymous said...

12:35 The old Crossgates Hospital, now called Merit Health Rankin

Anonymous said...

River Oaks is Merit Health, as is the hospital out in the woods south of Canton. I think there's one in the Brandon area sorta back behind Wal Mart maybe. Lots of walk in clinics have Merit Health on the marquee. Love me some Hydro.

Just a comment since so many seem to be amused with the story. I am a physician and know this guy casually and was shocked to see the story. ER docs do see patients with acute pain problems many times per day. Oral narcotics certainly have abuse potential but unlike schedule 1 drugs (ie, heroin) have legitimate indications. I assume there is more evidence of a crime than simply 3 people with for prescriptions. The story mentioned the scrips are handwritten - that's because it is not legal to file the prescription for controlled drugs electronically to the pharmacy - doesn't make much sense but the requirement is for a handwritten rather than electronic signature. I rarely prescribe these medications but I am not a surgeon or ER MD. If an ER doc can be arrested by police/DEA for writing for these medications then perhaps oral narcotics must be removed from the market. Must be more to this story cause 3 scrips doesn't sound like much to me. Soon if you go to the ER with a broken arm you might be told to take Tylenol...

Merit Health brags about their commitment to seniors, but (wait for this)
the Merit Heath clinics don't take Medicare!

6:32 Merit took my Medicare 3 weeks ago. Switched to them when MEA told me that they would not accept Medicare.

Anonymous said...

There has to be a lot more to this than a doctor simply writing 3 prescriptions. What am I not getting? If he gets arrested for writing prescriptions for certain drugs, then why not arrest the drug store for having possession of said drugs.

Anonymous said...

It is bizarre and confusing. A patient told me MEA no longer takes Medicare. Merit HOSPITALS take Medicare but someone posTed above that at least one of their outpatient clinics does not. It is hard to imagibe any facility surviving that does not take the largestime payer in the country.

10:25, 9.27.16 -
The answer is this, he is an addict.
It is the greatest love/hate relationship one can ever imagine. I mean that, and to get off of whatever substance you are addicted to is akin to having your closest loved one die a slow agonizing death in front of you.

It is a miserable/lonely and torturous disease that takes no prisoners. It doesn't care if you are a doctor, lawyer, landscaper, garbage man, white, black, purple rich or poor. It wants to take everything from you, then it wants to take you.

Anonymous said...

I agree with 10:01 AM. And I will add that, in addition to everything he/she said, addiction is akin to a demonic possession. Yes, it's that bad.

From what I understand:
(1) Perscribers are allowed to use e-prescriptions for controlled substances as long as the software of the prescriber and the pharmacy to which they are sent have both been approved/audited/certified by the DEA and then approved by the Mississippi Board of Pharmacy. This does not mandate e-prescriptions for controlled substances, but rather allows for controlled substances to be prescribed via an "e-prescription". This has been the case since 2010, however, I'm sure it is taking quite some time for everyone to be "updated".

(2) There is probably a lot more to this story in addition to the nuances indicated in the police report. Seeing as how there is an ongoing investigation, we'll be left in the dark untill it's all said and done

Someone correct me if I am wrong.

More to the story says:

In the words of Limp Biskit, "I did it all for the nookie"

Writing prescriptions is likely not the crime charged. Writing prescriptions outside the course of his usual practice -- e.g., when he has no doctor-patient relationship with the patient, has not examined the patient, or is prescribing an inordinate amount of a particular drug beyond recommended dosage levels -- can be a crime. This one bears more scrutiny once the actual charges are disclosed.

6:32....Wait for this. I had surgery two months ago at Merit (River Oaks) ($18,000) and medicare was of course accepted along with my supplemental. I owed nothing at walk out or later.

While St. D DOES take medicare, MEA which is owned by St. D, does not. They will file your insurance (medicare) but you pay up front.

Anonymous said...

@6:10am - FYI at Merritt rankin er there are no handwritten rx- they are only to be printed from the computer. Narcs are not transmitted electronically but others are. Narcs are only printed on the comp. trafficking would be more than 3 rxs for sure. I worked there and I'm appalled!!! Apparently he got plenty of narcs for his little side chick but would only give non-narc rx for patients in serious pain.

Anonymous said...

I'm pretty sure the PMP tracks addresses of patients.

It only takes a few seconds to realize that if they lived together and was writing prescriptions for someone in his household (remember: DEA/MBN has his address also)... it was a matter of time. It's pretty easy to spot.

When you burn your mind out on drugs you loose all sense of caution you might have had. When you are using many things sound like a good deal that a sane person would immediately know was wrong.

Surprised Kingfish is allowing all the posts alleging drug use and addiction. Where's any evidence of any of that?

On another note....when I read that the golf-club-window-smashing doctor was let go with a requirement for diversion, I thought it was this guy having charges remanded.

Writing 3 scrips in the ER for hydrocodone is not going to raise too many eyebrows. But, writing 3 for 10-WAT @ 75-150 units will blow the sides out of the radar.

He is not on drugs. He got mixed up with the wrong woman. I know him, he is a good person. I couldn't believe it when I heard about it. He knew better than this. People need to stop assuming that he has a drug problem himself.

Anonymous said...

@9:59 - then he at the least has a "chasing young slutty snatch" problem. Judging by her pics, that fatty couldn't have been worth going to jail for.

I love all the recovered armchair addictionologists in this thread. it always makes me laugh just how well educated in their own bullshit ideology all the AAers are in this town. Seriously, take your own inventory and go to a meeting and share or STFU.

Anonymous said...

Sounds like the doctor should have been the one going to a meeting and sharing. After all he is the one that was arrested for drug trafficking.

Anonymous said...

He surrendered his medical license. That said, whoever above said he was necessarily an addict is not necessarily correct given the information presented in this post.

Anonymous said...

Who said anybody posting on this thread was an addict? Where does that crap come from? You don't have to be an addict to be knowledgeable about addiction. Was that Trump, a few posts above, who referred to her as slutty and a fatty?

Anonymous said...

She must be one hellcat in the sack! Amazing what once smart men will do for a piece of wild ass and hydrocodone, not necessarily in that order.

I find it hilarious that all of you TROLLS want to make comments when you have no idea about the true story and the danger he was in!!!! I bet none of you losers would say any of this to his face! Oh and just to be clear
...he's doing better than ever and still making more than all of yall

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
