White reports recovering nearly $1 million in 2025.
State Auditor Shad White issued the following statement and report.
State Auditor Shad White announced in an annual Audit Exceptions Report that his office recovered $905,225.71 in taxpayer funds and returned them to the deserving entities in Fiscal Year 2025. During the last seven years, Auditor White’s team recovered more taxpayer money than in any other seven-year period in state history according to records in the Office of the State Auditor (OSA). “The State Auditor’s office continues to serve as the watchdogs of your money, year after year, thanks to the committed work of our 135 auditors, investigators, analysts, and support staff,” said Auditor White. Additionally, the report responded to questions about whether the Attorney General was consistently enforcing the findings of OSA investigations in court. Since May 2024, the State Auditor’s office has transmitted 29 cases to the Attorney General requesting standard legal guidance on whether the Attorney General will enforce the findings of those investigations in court. Those cases represent over $4.5 million in misspent taxpayer funds. To date, the Attorney General has only provided legal guidance on one of those cases, a case in Indianola. During Auditor White’s entire time in office, the Office of the State Auditor has sent 83 cases to the Attorney General’s Office so they could litigate to recover misspent money. At present, no action has been taken by the Attorney General on 74 of these cases. State law requires the State Auditor’s office to publish an Exceptions Report every year. The 2025 Exceptions Report is organized by county so taxpayers can easily search for cases near them. The report can be found online at the Auditor’s website under the “Reports” tab.Note: The report is posted below.
Attorney General Lynn Fitch issued a response dipped in acid:
This is exactly what we have come to expect from the Auditor. We show 28 cases that are active parallel criminal cases. We have 41 with restitution orders in some stage of repayment. We have 29 referrals in active civil litigation. We have 16 that have been paid in full and another 23 that have only the Auditor’s investigative fees and/or interest remaining. In 2024, the Attorney General's Office had a 96% success rate in defending the State. We overturned Roe v Wade and have successfully defended our laws creating the CCID Court, protecting children online, and protecting rural hospitals and independent pharmacies. We cleared nearly 600 foster kids for adoption in a single year. We held violent criminals accountable with the first 3 executions in a dozen years and had nearly 600 criminal appellate filings. We delivered more than $78 million in settlement dollars to the State - plus more than $80 million in opioid settlement funds. We don't have time to play games like the Auditor. We're too busy working for the people of Mississippi.

HAHAHAHAHA! Lynn just dunked the little 130-pound dude with big ears.
That is so rich.
Let the fireworks between the self-aggrandizing, wannabe gubner and the lazy AG commence...or continue! Can someone compare the cases that they each reference so that we can see which is right? For that matter, they might both be truthful (just not honest). The AG might be doing all she said and still ignoring 74 cases...probably because they are friends, or donors, of hers - kinda like the TANF thieves.
I'm not taking sides in this "pissing contest" between two elected officials that are both in over their heads, but if the Exception Report is correct, it is appalling that there are so many city and county officials that are just "thumbing their noses" at demands by not only Shad, but those who preceded him. And that is where the real money is. Someone should get off their ass and at least make life miserable for these people. If nothing is done, the Exception Report will become too large to read.
At least Shad knows a real deal whistleblower when he meets them.
Neither stand a chance against “The Hat”!
Shad and his minions didn't see millions in corruption at Human Services until a whistleblower (not named Feel).
I know he's got a law degree from Harvard and he's trying awful hard to keep up.
Bless his heart.
Philippians 2:3 - "Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory: but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves"
Yeah - not with these two egomaniacs. Too busy pissing on one another to serve the will of the people.
Just a reminder everyone: you can see how much each of these people make online and all of their employees. I actually have to work for my money and actually help civilization advance
These two should meet head on….. in vehicles….going very fast.
Why can't these 2 go out to dinner with their spouses, break some bread, drink some wine, laugh, talk, get to know each other and act like mature public elected officials. This constant pissy back and forth is childish, tiresome and embarrassing.
She didn’t even address the claim, just brought up other cases. Too busy working for the people? Does that include wasting taxpayer money on her frivolous lawsuit against the auditor?
Sorry Lynn and Shad, you're both complicit in the covering for Phil Bryant's criminality when you should have been making him an example on behalf of the people. You're both despicable....and your blatant self-promotion is a tell for your guilt in it all.
Ah... yessssss.... Lynn has helped advance the SURVEILLANCE STATE, using the excuse of "saving children". Funny how most abridgements of our freedoms, are disguised in that manner.
Next scamdemic, or next time there's a STOLEN ELECTION, who'll be able to anonymously get the truth out, as to what's happening? Thanks to quislings like Lynn, your social media accounts will be effortlessly traceable to YOU (and where you live, and...).
She better watch it or Shad might do an investigation on Lynn's dealing with her step-mother.
1:03 for the decisive win.
Mississippi...how pathetic that we get the disservice of having these ego driven blow hards as our wanna-be-gubners....
If Lynn can't even keep a zoom meeting safe, how will she keep our citizens safe?
But it’s for the children.
THAT was the REAL story in that hacking of their meetings.....it was a specific fuck you to Lynn about her cybersecurity efforts.
1) Sadly, Fitch did not write that rebuttal.
2) She would pay a million bucks if the "Roe-overturn" had her name affixed to it. Instead, to her chagrin, the case was styled Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization.
Actually, she made a fool out of herself with that reply written by one of the girls.
What a couple of drama queens.
Mississippi needs a real Attorney General, not a wannabe Social Worker who knows she doesn't have the backbone to be a Mississippi Guard Dog against its quite public and going corruption.
Plainly, neither side realizes that to a lot of people, they both come off like squalling brat toddlers engaging in a silly and disgraceful "Mommy loves ME best..." contest. Each does a marginally-competent job, at best. Press releases announcing such things are asinine.
A grocery cashier would have more gravitas if they sent out a press release with every customer checked out. "Pat Smith, part-time Hoggly-Woggly cashier, announces that on August 1, 2025, at 6:32AM, the full and complete contents of L. Jones' cart was successfully scanned and bagged. Further, Jones' Visa was successfully charged for the entire purchase amount of (withheld due to privacy). The cart contained: three (3) cans of green beans, two (2) loaves of bread..."
