Rankin County Sheriff Bryan Bailey issued the following press release:
The Rankin County Sheriff’s Department arrested Christopher Marvin WINSTEAD on April 22, 2015 following a month long investigation into residential burglaries in the south Rankin County near the Johns Community. WINSTEAD listed his address on Johns Mayton Road which is where three of the burglaries occurred.

On March 5, 2015 Investigator Brett McAlpin arrested Frankie BLUE for the sale of controlled substance. BLUE allegedly transferred the control substance while using a four-wheeler that was previous reported stolen from the area. The four-wheeler was recovered at the time of BLUE”s arrested and the information was turned over to Investigators Andy Barrett and Brian Whittington who were investigating the residential burglaries.

Investigators had received a digital image of a white male stealing the four-wheeler and were able to identify him as WINSTEAD. BLUE was using the four-wheeler, provided to him by WINSTEAD in exchange for narcotics, to make sales and distribute the contraband to his customers. A felony warrant was then issued for WINSTEAD and he was placed on NCIC.
On April 22, 2015 the Ridgeland Police Department contacted WINSTEAD as he walked down County Line Road. A NCIC check of WINSTEAD revealed the warrant issued in Rankin County and he was taken into custody at that time.
During an interview with WINSTEAD, by Rankin County Investigators, he confessed to three residential burglaries in the community as well as the theft of the four-wheeler BLUE was using to distribute controlled substances.
WINSTEAD cooperated with investigators by providing a written statement was well as the location of some of the missing property. Investigators have recovered the four-wheeler, weapons, electronics and clothing.
The arrest of BLUE and WINSTEAD should allow the citizens in that community to rest a little easier. Unfortunately, there will eventually be another criminal element waiting to take their place. This is why the Sheriff’s Department must continue its fight on crime in our County.
BLUE has had his initial appearance before Rankin County Judge Kent McDaniel and is being held without bond. WINSTEAD is being held without bond and should have his initial appearance before Judge McDaniel on April 28, 2015 in Rankin County Court.
