Looks like the McPurge does not apply to the Governor as he will attend a fund-raiser for State Senator Michael Watson. A Bart Edminston sent out an invite via email and text message to various Gulf Coast Republicans this week. The message states:
I will be hosting Governor Bryant at my house October 21 for a fund-raiser for Senator Michael Watson. Is anyone is interested in supporting Senator Watson, please PM me.I always found it funny that the Governor was publicly endorsing Senator Cochran yet the week of the runoff election, he ran out of the country and is now playing up to the Tea Party. To my Tea Party friends: Be wary of being played. I think the phrase "having it both ways" comes to mind when reading this little invite.

Funny but have never seen you advise your Republican friends that they were in danger of getting played by the Barbour clan, yet again.
I haven't seen Haley trying to play both sides. He was more a case of here is what I am and where I stand, don't like it, oh well.
Why is anyone surprised at anything Bryant does? He can always be bought by the highest bidder!
Until Phil Bryant publicly condemns what went down in the runoff not voting for his sorry ass or any other Repugnantian, er, Republican that supported Thad Cochran. Don't matter to me how many Tea Partiers he loves on. No statement, no vote.
KF, good or bad, that is the difference between Barbour & Bryant. Barbour lays out his position and works like hell behind the scenes to move the result towards it. Often times, he succeeds. When he doesn't, it can blow-up.
Bryant walks the tightrope and doesn't much steer the result - so much as make sure to wind-up on the winning side. It doesn't provide real leadership, but it avoids weakening his public brand.
Barbour was the man in the arena - winning, losing, always absorbing blows. Bryant floats like a butterfly.
If you want a public official who agrees with your ideas & positions 100% of the time on every issue it is a good idea to offer yourself for candidacy. Because - no one else is going to comply so absolutely with what you think is right. Bryant has, for the most part, supported nearly all ideals of the Tea Party. Though I worked for McDaniel and found him a much better candidate, am I to question Bryant's decision that he wasn't? Am I to determine that he believes in the tactics of the Barbours when he didn't personally engage in them? Sort of like those who imagine Chris put the film in that fool's camera because the guy once had a pic taken with him. And referring to 'floating like a butterfly', has 10:24 never heard of cross-pollination and its positive effects on nature?
The Weidie Report left off Watson, Why so? Because he won't lose. Gov knows that.
Say what you want about Phil, his numbers tell the story. NOONE will beat him, period! He is universally liked, has done a good job, and does not get outside the box of JOBS JOBS JOBS.
On the other hand, looks like Madison is in a full blown assault to locate a NEW senator. Will be an interesting year...
Am I to determine that he believes in the tactics of the Barbours when he didn't personally engage in them?
Spare us the theatrics. As the defacto head of the GOP in Mississippi Bryant did nothing to stop the tactical nukes the power mad Haley Barbour ordered up to be hurled by slime balls like Pete Perry and Henry Barbour. He stood by and watched the exact party fracture go down that he knew damn well would result. The fact that Bryant didn't personally distribute walking around money and hire the seasoned agitators to race bait blacks in advance of the runoff doesn't absolve him of a shared responsibility for the unmitigated disaster. If Childers is pushed across the finish line by the McDaniel voters you can be damn sure Phil Bryant won't escape the recriminations.
11:33 Bryant is the typical "Red-Neck" governor. If that is what you want, that is certainly what you have. A state will never move forward with a governor who a laughing stock; but, he will certainly get the votes because everyone knows he can be manipulated!
The obvious question is a fundraiser for what office? Is this a reelection fundraiser for Watson?
Bryant is certainly not " universally liked".
He is effective at telling anybody what he thinks they want to hear.
Pray tell, what are his accomplishments as Governor?
bryant is actually an embarrassment...his staff is extremely weak...he holds a finger up to gauge the wind to pick a position....really considered a buffoon in state goverment
With all that has happened within the Republican Party in the past year I am not at all surprised that Bryant would attend a fundraiser for Watson to begin the process of unification. After all, Watson has carried Bryant's water on Common Core in the state senate. Is the fund raiser being held by the same people that did the one down on the Coast for Stacey Pickering that was so controversial? All politicians should be cautious who hosts their fundraisers. Anger is at an all time high or equal to the period that caused the Redneck Rebellion.
