Empower Mississippi host Grant Callen sits down with Mississippi’s 40th Attorney General Lynn Fitch. A Holly Springs native, General Fitch has 35 years in public and private legal service, made history as the state’s first female Attorney General, and earned national recognition for her leadership. They discuss her roots, legal career, and pivotal role in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, the landmark Supreme Court case that overturned Roe v. Wade. She also shares insights on fighting human trafficking, protecting children online, preserving Title IX, and support for school choice. Additionally, we preview the upcoming Mississippi Women’s Summit and pose the question on many minds: Is a run for governor in her future? Tune in below.

Jim Hood filed the appeal on Dobbs, and Lynn inherited it.
This makes it sound as though Lynn Fitch has substance rather than just appearance. Who knew?
Dammit. Rapping with the AG.... I thought this was going to be a joint album with Lynn spitting fire while The Hat sings gospel harmony on background vocals.
10:44, you do not contend that Jim Hood "appealed" Dobbs to SCOTUS, do you? Because you would objectively be wrong. The case was still pending in the Fifth Circuit when Lynn took office.
The legislature passed the bill. Doing their job, Hood and Fitch carried the appeal to the appropriate courts. Giving her credit for the SCOTUS ruling - fixing a half century old error of the court is asking for a little much. Maybe it was her red dress she wore at the hearing, that seems to be the basis for most of her claim to fame nowdays anyway.
Just wondering, though - in this podcast (which I'm not about to waste anytime listening to) - does she give proper credit for her rise to stardome; her former 'overseer' at the powerful Ways and Means Committee later turned golf pro and Cheif of Staff for Barbour?
I thought of this https://kingfish1935.blogspot.com/2025/05/the-dancing-mayor.html but with rhymes!
I don't have any desire to watch this woman carry on about her dynamic efforts to curb human trafficking but would like see a list of the things she actually DID to move Dobbs to the Supreme Court.
Would be nice if the next A.G. would rehire the REAL lawyers she cut loose when she brought all the girls in.
Thanks, staffer. Did you also bring donuts in this morning?
Yes well, we don't even want to keep good stats on the increase in maternal death rates . But we do know the deaths of pregnant women increased during Covid. I know that more poor women and non-white women die in pregnancy. We have more than our fair share of both. I also know that pregnancy increases the spread of cancer and that chemo isn't helpful to fetal development. Our ignorance about all things sexually related can literally kill us and our children or deform the latter. I still remember my Catholic friend who was thrilled to have early onset of menopause so she could cancel going to Hell from the abortion she planned to have.
Are you on the right thread? Your post seems wholly unrelated to the subject.
Just wondering what happened to her lawsuit against China for the spread of the Covid virus?
