Investigators with the Mississippi Agricultural and Livestock Theft Bureau (MALTB), in cooperation with the Covington County Sheriff’s Office, have arrested a suspect in connection with the theft of livestock from a rural property in Covington County.
Weston Herrington, age 33, of Jones County was arrested on September 22, 2025, and charged with felony theft of livestock. The arrest follows an investigation initiated after five head of cattle, valued at approximately $10,000, were reported stolen from a property in Covington County.

When someone steals livestock, they’re not just committing theft — they’re harming families, businesses and entire communities. I commend our MALTB investigators and local law enforcement partners in Covington County for working swiftly to protect our farmers and enforce the law.”
