Rankin County Sheriff Bryan Bailey issued the following statement.
Around 12 noon on Thursday, September 18, 2025, the Rankin County Sheriff’s Department responded to a business on Old Fannin Rd near the Reservoir for a report of vandalism.
When deputies and investigators arrived on scene, they noted that the business was a 24/7 laundry and that the suspects had damaged a change machine and stolen the money within it. After viewing surveillance videos from the laundry business and several other businesses nearby they identified a white Mercedes SUV as a suspect vehicle.

Working in collaboration with other law enforcement agencies within the 20th Judicial District, investigators from the sheriff’s office were able to tie these suspects to similar crimes within the City of Florence and City of Ridgeland.
Investigators contacted the Capitol Police Department after locating the suspects within the City of Jackson. After conducting surveillance for a period of time, investigators working with the Capitol Police Department arrested Grant Lewis Gatlin, Joseph Thompson, and a black female who provided False Identity Information to Law Enforcement.

All three suspects will be charged with Malicious Mischief, Conspiracy to Commit a Felony, and Grand Larceny. They are currently housed in the Rankin County Detention Center without bond due to the pending additional charges from multiple agencies.
The Rankin County Sheriff’s Office would like to express its appreciation to the Florence Police Department, Ridgeland Police Department, and the Capitol Police Department for their assistance in this investigation.

Other than brand new, a Mercedes Benz is a cheap used vehicle. Once the new wears off, they are maintenance nightmare and depreciate faster than any other vehicle on the road. You can pick one up with close to 100k miles for next to nothing. They don't go must past 100k miles.

In the surveillance videos, the big white guy farted so loud it scared the little white guy and he thought it was someone coming in from the back and ran out the door so fast. The girl held her breath and it looked like she was about to throw up. Then the big white guy adjusted his pants and I would bet he realized he had sharted. They all left and came back after a couple minutes and robbed the machine and ran out. Soooo, I bet that SUV is even more extra shitty now.
