Feds Bust Drug Ring, Pardonee Arrested

The Justice Department issued the following statement.

Five individuals were arrested yesterday pursuant to a federal indictment filed in the Southern District of Mississippi charging defendants from Hinds, Madison, and Newton counties. The charges stem from a multi-year federal investigation of a drug trafficking operation distributing methamphetamine, cocaine, and other illegal drugs in the area of Jackson, Mississippi and elsewhere.

The indictment charges nine individuals with various drug trafficking crimes, including, but not limited, to possession with intent to distribute controlled substances and conspiracy to do so.  Several defendants face mandatory minimum sentences because of the significant quantities of illegal drugs. Additionally, some defendants have been charged with firearms-related crimes.

“The Department of Justice is working hard with federal, state, and local law enforcement partners to help make the Jackson area safer by conducting major investigations, like this one, that dismantle drug trafficking and violent organizations,” said U.S. Attorney Todd Gee. “Criminals in Jackson should be on notice that committing crimes as part of a large group is a one-way ticket to federal prison.”

“The Drug Enforcement Administration is committed to protecting our communities from the scourge of drugs,” said DEA Assistant Special Agent in Charge Anessa Daniels-McCaw. “These arrests are the culmination of a multi-year investigation, and we will continue to aggressively pursue those who poison our communities with deadly substances.”

“Citizens throughout Mississippi deserve to live in drug free communities,” said FBI Special Agent in Charge Robert Eikhoff. “These arrests exemplify the collaborative efforts between federal, state and local law enforcement partners in thwarting illegal drug trafficking operations, as we continue to work together making our communities safer.”

“Working alongside our local, state, and federal partners demonstrates that cooperation consistently leads to successful outcomes,” said Department of Public Safety Commissioner Sean Tindell. “I am proud of the work done in this case to ensure that we are all united in continuing to combat drug crime and ensure safety in Mississippi.”

“I am extremely excited about the collaboration and collective efforts with our federal partners, state partners, and the U.S. Attorney," said Jackson Police Chief Joseph Wade. "U.S. Attorney Todd Gee continues his commitment to assisting JPD in our efforts to combat violent crimes.  This effort exemplifies his work, along with the federal partners and the hard work of the men and women of the Jackson Police Department to improve the quality of life for the citizens of the City of Jackson.”

The following defendants were arrested yesterday:

James Naylor, 59, of Jackson; Donald Jordan, 49, of Jackson; Cedrick Barber, 48, of Jackson; Aron Brown, 53, of Madison; and Danita Wheeler, 58, of Jackson.

Initial court appearances were held this morning before U.S. Magistrate Judge LaKeysha Greer Isaac in U.S. District Court in Jackson.

The announcement was made by U.S. Attorney Todd W. Gee of the Southern District of Mississippi, Assistant Special Agent in Charge Anessa Daniels-McCaw of the Drug Enforcement Administration, Special Agent in Charge Robert Eikhoff of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, U.S. Marshal Mark Shepherd, Mississippi Public Safety Commissioner Sean Tindell, Jackson Police Chief Joseph Wade and Hinds County Sheriff Tyree Jones.

The cases are being investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics, Hinds County Sheriff’s Department, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the Jackson Police Department.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Adam T. Stuart is prosecuting the case. Assistant U.S. Attorney Carla Clark assisted in the investigation. The Office of Enforcement Operations in the Department of Justice’s Criminal Division also provided assistance.

This case is part of an Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF) operation. OCDETF identifies, disrupts, and dismantles the highest-level drug traffickers, money launderers, gangs, and transnational criminal organizations that threaten the United States by using a prosecutor-led, intelligence-driven, multi-agency approach that leverages the strengths of federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies against criminal networks.

An indictment is merely an allegation and all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.

Kingfish note: Aaron Brown, where have we heard that name before?  The Associated Press reported on March 9, 2012:

Four inmates pardoned by former Gov. Haley Barbour are scheduled to be released Saturday, including a South African man whose pardon had the support of a Nobel Peace Prize winner and a former South African president....

The others to be released on Saturday are:

—Aaron Brown, sentenced in August 1997 for murder. He had previously been sentenced for carrying a concealed weapon and possession of a controlled substance. He was serving a life sentence.

The Clarion-Ledger reported Brown's murder conviction.

Is this the same convicted murderer who worked as a trustee at the gov's mansion? I remember the pardon scandal. Wonder what the cost of freedom was?

A multi year investigation netted NINE individuals all
in their 40’s and 50’s??!?! How much money did we waste paying these cops to bust nine people?? Ridiculous waste of money. I guess with these nine masterminds behind bars people will be unable to find or purchase illegal drugs in the Jackson Metro!! Hahaha These cops must feel like such losers when they lay down at night.. Winning the “War on Drugs” what a joke. Wasted their lives fighting a war they have zero chance of winning.

Cool! (I tried reading the post all the way through.)

Tindall is proud...
Wade is excited...
Eikhoff is happy about collaboration...
Gee is committed...

Will this, in any way, reduce our capital city's fortune of leading the nation in per-capita homicides? Yes or No.

Aron Brown? Or, Aaron Brown?

While yes the expense is high catching these peddling drugs; however; ask the families of those who died whether 1st time trying or more and losing their children or loved ones to death from this. This is not a job for the faint at heart and I thank all LEO’S for taking these people off the street! Now CLOSE OUR BORDER HARRIS & BIDEN! That will be the greatest deterrent to drugs entering the USA!

4:01 - We will have to wait another six months for anything to be done about illegals or their drugs crossing the border.

finishing 4:22's sentence:

. . . because Donald Trump ordered the Speaker of the House to tank the GOP's own illegal immigration bill, so that Trump could use immigration as an issue for his own election.

Obviously, it worked (on some people).

Please correct me if I am wrong, but this took “years of investigation to “solve”.

I'm generally against pardons no matter who is doing it, politics aside. If there are really doubtful circumstances of a person's guilt (and I mean extremely rare circumstances) I can see a governor considering it. But generally, criminals should serve their entire sentence.

I hope you Northeastern Jackson people realize how. We Madison people appreciate your help in raising our property values.in Madison county.

4:01…. News flash… People are still going to be dying. These nine arrests will have no effect on drugs in metro. There are still drugs out there. You must be one of those “guns kill people”, “forks make people fat” folks if you are blaming the drug dealers for overdose deaths…

Jackson public schools need to tell these people during their graduating ceremonies not to act like that.

I don't believe I'da said that.

“Criminals in Jackson should be on notice that committing crimes as part of a large group is a one-way ticket to federal prison.”

I know I would not have said THAT.

Now he has to arrest most of the past and present Legislature, Executive, at least some of the Judiciary, many at every single state agency, just about everyone at the COJ, JPS, Hinds, Rankin, and Madison Counties, several large law firms, and last but never least, everyone who currently is or ever has been in Chockedwheel's contact list.

@5:56

Read the bill

It is de facto legalization. It reduces illegal immigration by merely legalizing the illegals

But none of your team reads shit, do they?

5:56, for more than 3 years the Biden Administration lied to the American people telling us repeatedly the border was secure. During that time, the administration had the same resources that Trump had to deal with the border, but deliberately failed to control the border and to enforce immigration laws. Biden stopped the wall construction as well. Then, when the lie was not longer tenable, and the Biden’s handlers see they are in trouble with the re-election bid, Biden proposes a new bill with provisions he knew were not acceptable to the Republicans. Suddenly after three plus years of lies, deception and deliberate failure, the Democrats shift gears, acknowledge the border isn’t secure, and blame the Republicans, and you swallow the deception hook, lime and sinker. For 3+ years the Biden-Harris administration misled the public, deliberately failed to enforce the laws, flood the country with illegal immigrants, and then, predictably blame Trump.

1n 1980 during the mariel boat lift castro emptied his prisons into the united states.

you saw how that worked out.

if your knowledge of history only goes back to last tuesday, watch that movie scarface.

my point here is toad frog haley barbour did the same thing to the state of mississippi in the final days of his second term.

this aint the first on of haleys ''reformed '' criminals to show back up under indictment.

10;38 is right.

i remember the mariel boat lift.

it happened during the jimmy carter administration and carter did nothing to stop it

it set off a crime wave that stretched from south florida all the way to fort chaff arkansas. read about the ft chaffee riot.

for 2 years south florida looked like the cites in other states during the 2020 black lives matter riots.

and yes haley barber did the same thing inches second term . barbour even supported the release of the most sadistic murderer

in Mississippi history. name was douglas hodgkin. in 1986 hodgkin raped , and beat to death a young co-ed at ole miss. people up there still talk lot that murder.

haley basically ordered the parole board to let him out after a mere 21 years in prison. he would haven let out after only ten years , except for the fact that the family of the murder victim fought like hell to keep him incarcerated. but here in this corrupt ass state there isn't much money can't buy.

to all the keyboard cowboys of jackson jambalaya..........

read the comment @10;54...........

ANY DENIALS?????????????????????

there is a very detailed book coming out soon about the rape and strangulation murder by douglas hodgkin of the then pregnant jean gilles at ole miss in 1986.

its also going to expose how hodgkin was able to literally buy himself out of a life sentence for capitol murder.

that fat slob haley barbour and a certain 3 members of the of the 2009 ms state parole board will be featured prominently .

that now deceased, stinking drunk ,butch brown who used to run the ms state dept of transportation will also star in the book as well a former governor william winter.

that book gonna expose a lot of corruption in this state.

6:41 Nope you are incorrect and nasty. I believe right to keep & bear arms, support Law Enforcement. However, know & fully believe Secret Service dropped the ball & have listened to whistleblowers from SS that reported to Congress that indications believe the attempted assassination was inside job. Any drugs off the street according to math is better than none. That just my opinion & does not make me a bad person. Ps I am voting Trump.

The 1980 Mariel boat lift? You're a little tardy with your historical knowledge. 260 years earlier, France emptied its prisons of all who would agree to marry French whores and move to what was then Louisiana....Now Mississippi. Enjoy your Creole gumbo.

I remember wee the day it was released that Butch Brown had written that letter on MDOT Letterhead Stationary. It sucked to the high heaven but then again being pulled over by Natchez Trace Police with a female driving (not his wife of course) while intoxicated and telling the officer “ Do You Know Who I am? I am Butch Brown blah blah!” To which the nice professional officer said, “Sir, I am not talking to you, but the woman driving! Don’t remember if this was before or after he was asked to leave a casino for being drunk and asleep at a slot machine! So again there are good and bad people in all walks of life. Butch had lost my respect while being an employee at MDOT long before any of this happened when he sent orders to all departments demanding each employee contribute to a flower fund, which was illegal because he threatened termination or punishment if they did not. We each get a choice to vote for our future in November. I recognize that neither party is perfect, however, the rights and privileges that have been taken from Americans of faith make us more determined than ever to get out and vote! Our country deserves better no matter what state or city! We are blessed by LEO’s, Military and honest decent public servants who teach our kids in MS. Thank you KF and please publish the book name and author mentioned.

No defense or denials from this keyboard cowboy, 11:06.

You see, sane people defend people based on their actions. Not the D or R after their name.

I used to hold out hope that the left-wing nut jobs (and the extreme looney's on the right) would somehow gain this talent but alas, they all seem to blindly follow the useless leader that they are inexplicably beholden to.

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
