Former JPD officer Anthony Fox is on trial this week in Hinds County for the alleged beating death of George Robinson. Circuit Judge Adrienne Wooten presides over Fox's trial. Therese Apel has been covering the case every day from the courtroom on her website.
July 27 post.
Judge Faye Peterson dismissed similar charges against his two fellow officers in the incident. U.S. District Judge Carlton Reeves dismissed a civil lawsuit against the three officers. Judge Reeves said the officers were protected by qualified immunity. Fox is now a Clinton police officer.

With all the dismissals, how is it that he's on trial? This is Jacktown justice, right? Nothing else on the docket? I smell a recusal. Then, another.
Blessings aren't for cops; only for real criminals.
Darn shame regarding Lamumbalot’s tendency to persecute Police rather than prosecuting criminals
This case is so sad. Wooten is just trying to flex.
However, our criminal justice system is broken. I've been in it my entire life. This should not be allowed to happen. Literally, less than 100yards away, and less than a mile away, sit 2 Judges with far more criminal law experience than Wooten have decided that the officers involved have no criminal or civil liability...the distress Fox must be going through....
Judges have their own agenda, not the law. Usually, it's to be re-elected.
Jurors do not follow instructions, but hell we're picking everyday folks to read and follow hornbook language. Good luck, defendant!
Lawyers in the pit are becoming less trustworthy, and more apt to attack OC personally, rather than deal with the facts as they are....
The Bar....yeah, we self-regulate. Works great! Ask President of the World Carlos the Clown.
At the end of the day, its abouts wins and losses to too many lawyers/judges.
What Ms. Apel didn't report (no slight upon her) was that a certain attorney who just happens to be around 6'4" or so sat on the front row during the first two days of the trial. While one witness testified, some courtroom observers claimed another attorney was silently moving his lips.
That certain attorney would be the ethically challenged (to put it nicely) Dennis Sweet. Owens should lose his license over this. The DA tried to amend the indictment the week before the trial to take out the allegations of a beating because there is no proof of a beating and they know that the witnesses who testified that officers punched and kicked Robinson are just flat-out lying. In other words - the "proof" heard by the Grand Jury was all lies. This is on Jody Owens and that idiot Chokwe Lumumba.
This is all about getting money from Jackson from a followup wrongful death suit--if they are able to railroad Fox. They tried to get any one of the three officers to plea to roughing up the deceased, but none of them would, because it didn't happen. This is sickening. Callously ruining a man's life so you can make money from doing so.
Is there bodycam footage or are we supposed to take the officer’s story as truth without any other evidence? If there’s no video, then there’s really no way to know any details for sure.
3:23 - The State doesn't even believe its own witnesses that there was a beating. They tried to amend the indictment the week before trial to take that out. The autopsy report shows no beating. It's all consistent with Robinson hitting his head while resisting arrest. You do know the burden is on the prosecution, right? Or police officers aren't allowed basic civil rights?
@4:26 - The state medical examiner said: “The cause of death is multiple blunt force head trauma,” he said. “The manner of death is homicide.”
Where are you seeing that there was no beating in the autopsy because that is not what the facts say? Is that some form of alternate truth?
