The wheels of justice turned slowly but turned they did for would-be cop-killer Chauncy Reed. A Hinds County grand jury indicted Reed on January 13 for first-degree murder and attempted murder of a law enforcement officer that took place on May 18, 2018.
JPD Officer Mike Tarrio saw Elliot Reed driving erratically as he pulled into a gas station at 1 AM. The alert officer saw several weapons in the car as he approached the vehicle and ordered Elliot to get out of the SUV. Unfortunately for all, Reed attacked Tarrio and put him into a headlock. Reed's brother, Chauncy, jumped out of the passenger seat to help his brother. Elliot tried to take away Tarrio's pistol while he told Chauncy to shoot the police officer. Elliot grappled with Tarrio while Chauncy began firing at Tarrio with a firearm. Chauncy's rounds fortunately missed the officer. Tarrio ran behind his cruiser for cover and returned fire. Elliot was killed in the exchange.
The two videos posted below show the entire struggle as well as the police officer's good fortune.
Unfortunately for Officer Tarrio, the case disappeared for several years. MBI referred the case to Hinds County District Attorney Robert Shuler Smith in January 2019 for prosecution. However, Smith only presented Tarrio to the grand jury for killing Elliot Reed while Chauncey escaped prosecution. The grand jury refused to indict Tarrio.
Reed kept catching breaks from the Hinds County criminal justice system.
A Hinds County grand jury indicted Reed in October 2018 for aggravated assault and shooting into an occupied vehicle in March 2017. Reed also dabbled in a little bit of drug dealing as a grand jury indicted him in May 2018 for four counts of possessing cocaine, meth, and marijuana with intent to distribute. The indictment said he had 187 grams of cocaine. He was also indicted for possessing a stolen firearm. However, the Dope Boys' D.A., Robert Shuler Smith, blessed Mr. Reed.
To-wit, Chauncey Reed, while acting in concert and/or aiding, assisting or encouraging Elliot Reed, did cause Elliot Reed to be killed while in the commission of the felony of the attempted murder of City of Jackson Police Officer Michael Tarrio, who was there and then acting in his official capacity as City of Jackson Police Officer by shooting at City of Jackson Police Officer with a firearm....
Yours truly wrote this note back in March. It was true in March and was true in December. Apparently there is no justice for an Officer of the Year in Jackson, Mississippi. In any other city in Mississippi, Mike Tarrio would be treated as a hero while Chauncy Reed received the justice he so richly deserves. Unfortunately, Tarrio is a police officer in a city where the cowardly cut down the courageous. The lack of an indictment for Chauncy Reed is not just inexcusable but is an assault on Mike Tarrio by the people he swore to protect and serve. Officer Tarrio received more punishment for the events of that deadly night than did Chauncy Reed. Social justice indeed. Such is the fruit of the Lumumba administration. This case is a perfect example of why there is a shortage of police officers in Jackson as crime spirals out of control. However, this is Jackson where the competent are trashed and the trash is exalted. That, my friends, is the bottom line. There is still no justice for a police officer who survived a deadly shootout at a South Jackson gas station 3 1/2 years ago. Two men tried to shoot JPD Officer Mike Tarrio but he managed to kill one assailant and arrest the other. He received an "Officer of the Year" award for his bravery under fire. However, this being Jackson, such heroism did not go unpunished as Jackson suspended him with pay for over a year. While Tarrio suffered, the man who repeatedly shot at him was never indicted and walks free today. The Hinds County Catch & Release program is indeed alive and well in 2021.While his peers saw him as a hero, Jackson saw him as the enemy. JPD placed Officer Tarrio on administrative leave per JPD policy when an officer shoots a suspect. JPD referred the investigation to MBI. MBI cleared the police officer within a few weeks but unfortunately, his problems were just beginning. JPD refused to allow Officer Tarrio to return to his precinct but instead kept him on administrative leave with pay for over a year. The suspension prevented him from earning much-needed overtime pay or working private details as a JPD officer, thus substantially cutting his income. He was eventually stuck working the impound lot before he finally returned to the precinct. Tarrio and ten other JPD officers involved in shootings sued the city in July 2019.They claimed the city unfairly sidelined or fired them even after they were cleared by the grand jury or civil service. The Court ruled he was only entitled to his base pay and dismissed the other issues.

Thank God RSS is dead.
It wouldn't surprise me if Judge Wooten doesn't bless him again
Dust off old sparky.
Robert Shuler Smith was worthless.
The mayor is worthless, in my view.
Poor Chief Davis is a good guy but is lost as a goose in the job
This news doesn't please Chokewe. He isnt for police getting justice, but was pretty good homeboys with RSS.

Jealousy is one of the worse trainers anyone can possess.
Translation: You sound like you’re jealous Judge Wooten never blessed you.
I predict this fella will be out of jail in time for the new M Bar Amphitheater Twerk Fest.
@7:35 AM
God can’t hear you.

He hears fine. You're just mad that someone celebrates the death of someone that enables murderers.
Time for an expose of the dope boys.
RSS is dead, so no one is gonna expose why he supported so many criminals.
And in typical Jackson fashion, "he (RSS) came from a good family," which is why he was elected. People refused to believe his corruption.
8:48 : Right up front with a money roll......starring in the rap video ...idk, maybe this will stick.
Blessings from Tomie in 5, 4, 3, 2, 1...

No, God can’t hear you which is the reason why you’re talking to me.
Translation: Think about it.

No. You relish that RSS could bring charges against a JPD officer and never file charges against the alleged shooter. The most 'devout' are often the most hypocritical. I wouldn't even be surprised if you were a Dope Boy affiliate.
I watched the video, Chauncy Reed killed his own brother! They both could had ran from this tragic event but their freaking pants were hanging. They kept pulling up their pants trying to run and shoot. Two fools!
The Officer is a hero! The Mayor, City Council and the JPD Command Staff are sad pieces of ShIT.
The Officer should not have been subject to this bullshit.
Pray that Hinds County send him to Death Row!
12:58 PM
God sure as shit ain't listening to Jackson.
That Officer is one bad mother fucker, he was laying down that lead!
Those two fools on the other hand were tugging at their britches! If you look close, they both have brown spots (shit) on their underwater. They were outgunned by one lucky Officer! To that Officer may God always be with you my brother.
@2:11PM
Get off my nuts.

You know, whenever you’re ready, you’re free to stop making anonymous comments on a garbage blog and take Judge Green’s seat in the court system.
Hi Tommie!
Err, I mean...3:20.
3:20 PM
Be the change you want to see on this blog.
goodbye, Tomie
Don't let the door hit ya abysmal backside on the way out

Crime has consequences except for Hinds County. It will take a couple of months of throwing these fools away before they realize that crime doesn’t pay!
No other County Criminal Justice System in this State would allow this fool to set foot out of prison until he was at least 89 years old.
Chauncy Reed is a dangerous non human. He needs to rot on Death Row!
Watch the video!
Fools like Chauncy Reed committing crimes ensure they stay in the boundaries of Hinds County, at least the ones that can read.
They know the deal!
January 5, 2027 trial was continued today- They will never get to this case
February 3, 2022 at 6:34 PM
Does that mean he won't stand trial until January 2027?k
