Miln Fined for Simple Assault Against Douglas

JJ is a little late to the party but posted below is a copy of a fine levied against the late Chris Miln for simple assault against Deshwan Douglas.  The two Bay Park neighbors got into a fight Tuesday.  The 19 year-old Douglas shot the 54 year-old Miln to death.   Douglas is charged with murder.

A Rankin County Justice Court fined Miln $50 for simple assault and ordered him to have no contact with Douglas.  T

Kingfish note: Posted below is the video of part of the fight.  The video does not show how the fight started nor how it ended.  It doesn't show the shooting.  In other words, it is incomplete.  This kid may have shot in self-defense or may have shot him in flight.  We don't know which is the case but there is at least one witness and medical evidence.

Oh, and for those on Facebook claiming Douglas was denied bond because he was black, there is just one question.

When is the last time any suspect charged with murder got bond in Rankin County?

Well, I don't know what started this nonsense, and I'm sorry it ended in a death.

But that was the best leg lock I've seen since Stone Cold Steve Austin took down the Undertaker and Vince McMahon (at the same time) around 1997.

this paperwork is very ambiguous .
this is not an official justice court abstract issued by the clerk of court. it appears to be a ''prosecutors recommendation'' or a ''court order'' or maybe both.
the ''simple assault'' portion says ''remand'', not ''guilty plea''.
its not signed by a prosecutor or the defendant and the signature of the judge cannot , on its face, be identified.
I've been practicing criminal law for 33 years and i cant make heads or tails out tho this so called record.

See page 2. There is a Justice Court Judge signature at the bottom of the page.

That is Josh McCrory’s signature on the order. Cecil’s boy.

Big difference between assault and murder. Lock his ass up

54 year old man should have known better, should have stayed in his own yard.

His hubris and lack of perspective got him killed.

That young man was basically protecting his family.

So the deceased already had an assault charge against his neighbor. He is told to have no contact. He attacks him again and gets shot dead. What part of leave-people-alone he didn’t understand I have no idea. He learned however. These charges were rushed. They will be dropped.

See page 2. After 33 years y'all need more practice.

LEG LOCK? You dont have a CLUE what you are talking about....

You defenders of the thug just can't seem to understand: The physical altercation took place on the older man's property, right upside his house. The confrontation and wrestling match was OVER when the punk decided to pull a gun and shoot the older man four times.

I realize all of you BLM and white-guilt types are hurrying to the defense of the punk, but it's to no avail. Don't bring a gun to a wrestling match - especially when, by law, you're not old enough to possess one.

@ 9:22 I hope you are right.

Meanwhile, does the kid really need to be in jail? Yeah, he looks like a thug. Yeah, he grabs his weenie inappropriately. Does this thing get indicted? Not a chance. Cut him loose.

At what point do we expect 54 year old men to provide a better example for youth than the deceased's last stab at mentoring?

I am sorry for the loss of life. I am sorry for this lad giving the gun control people more fodder. But mostly I am sorry for the folks whose lives are so empty that this is how they live and die.

Pretty shameful all around.

to the fish at 5:oo and the wise-ass at 9:56pm.....maybe you should both go back and re read my post. i never said there was no judge's signature on the document. i said the signature of the judge is not legible. willing to bet you won't publish this.

to the firearms law expert at 6:08............we realize that you are not a lawyer, but you play one on JJ. you're post is fake news bs. an 18 year old can legally possess a handgun in mississippi. see 97-37-14 ms code. maybe you should try reading the law rather than just making it up to suit your redneck agenda.

Self defense. My ass! Shooting an unarmed man in the back is NOT self defense.
. You can bet that he doesn’t get away with this crime in Rankin County.

@6:08

What you fail to understand is that there was a cut away before the scuffle. When the camera was trained on them again, you clearly see the shooter’s head being mushed into the siding of the deceased home. Being that the deceased took down the shooter, would it be a reach to say that he used momentum and the element of surprise to push the shooter off balance possibly over property lines?

Trajectory and splatter patterns will prove how close the deceased was to no longer be considered a threat. He already whooped the young man more than once, who’s to say he wasn’t looking for another go after the reset. Did 4/6 shots hit the target, or all 6? Did the deceased try to retreat during the initial volley, and turn into the succession of rounds... or did he charge, and the last round struck him mid turn?

The shooter did break various laws, but I see this as a last result for someone that knew he was overmatched. The same extreme was taken when he fled. If there are valid gun charges let them stand. Again I can assure you that LEOs weren’t the only ones that wanted to detain him.

Keep on wrestling

Mr Miln clearly tried to physically intimidate. Guess he messed with the kid one too many times and now he’s dead. And with the video, past court records his shooter is going to walk away free. Don’t think for one minute it’s going to be a 1956 all white jury. There’s going to be at least one person of African descent on it. They will hang the jury.

Doesn’t help your “self defense” claim when you went inside your house after the fight was over and got a gun and came back outside and shot him, the victim had GSWs to his back, you stashed/disposed of the gun and refuse to tell authorities where it is (more than likely thrown in the reservoir if assume) AND lead police on a 2 hour man hunt for you... you going to the clink, kid.

Keep on yacking about the past arguments, the earlier confrontations, the older guy being a redneck, the younger guy being a recently graduated scholar...Guess what's all that matters? Somebody obtained a firearm and shot another somebody five minutes after an altercation ended.

I'm told the boy is 17. Don't know for sure.

To those who says the fight was over, the fight was not over. The fight had been going on since the no-contact order. This is a sad situation, but you just can't harass and talk to people in any manner. If you keep begging to get killed, someone will eventually oblige you. Whether this young man goes to prison or not, the fact remains that the bully is deceased.

How about we step back away from the ledge and give the accused his innocent until proven guilty right and the family of the deceased some room to mourn this tragedy as the accused family is likewise dealing with unfathomable stress and pure terror I’m sure. Sincere prayers for all involved for peace in the midst of the storm and for those in authority to make wise, sound, equitable decisions based upon solid principles of justice and truth - blind to victim and accused statute or race color or creed.

As to those spitting out hot takes with nothing more than personal opinion, latent or blatant bias, incomplete evidence, & little to zero compassion for humanity or respect for pursuing and finding truth regardless of where it leads, well... my daddy taught me to just keep my mouth shut if I don’t have anything good (constructive or beneficial or noteworthy etc) so ... to those ... I reckon I’ll just do as daddy taught me right now.

May Gods hand be on us all and moreso for those facing much more difficulty than we are.

The Just Court Order is dated December 3, 2020. The Justice Court in our County says their No "Contact Orders" are only 7 days. Supposedly to get a longer one, requires going to Chancery Court with an Attorney. But our County Laws aren't always consistent with others.

Understand that Miln was a long time bully and troublemaker. If one keeps looking for trouble, you will find it. As an older buddy of mine oncesaid, “all the old badasses I knew are dead.”

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
