Ummmm...Covid? Who in their right mind would risk their own health, and especially that of their children, just to be (possibly) seen for a few seconds onscreen? Jeez Louise, people! Way to potentially end up on the Great Cutting Room Floor in the Sky...

Geez Louise, You know schools are open right?

Feel free 9:48 to stay cowered away in your closet. You won't be missed.

So the movie is about a women moving to Clinton, MS for a “high tech” job? Weird setting?

9:48 AM settle down Karen.

Anonymous said...

Ophelia, I totally agree with you. Also, I can't find anything about this film on the IMDB website.

All folks are required to show up with a negative COVID test. The test must be 24 hour or less old.

It’s about a small town. They picked a great setting.

@12:16 PM

There are high-tech jobs in Vicksburg at the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Many of us that work there live in Clinton. So it is not so weird after all.

That being said, I would bet that Clinton gets renamed to a fictional town in the movie.

There's never been a positive movie made about this state. What makes you think this one will be any different?

Anonymous said...

I thought My Dog Skip was done pretty well

Anonymous said...

This is a joke right?

Anonymous said...

Aren't we all a veritable cornucopia of positivity? KF you could tell some of these people that gold was being given away and they would find something negative to say. Geeezz. For the sake of it CANT some of you be happy about something just once? Damn bunch of Debbie Downers

4:40, check out Lifetime's "Christmas in Mississippi that was shot in Gulfport.

@9:48 can’t leave politics out of a goddamned casting call for a cheesy movie

This will be the second time Clinton will be in a movie. Remember "Life At These Speeds"

9:48.....lighten up Francis.....if you ain’t dead by now, don’t go to the casting, or to Walmart, barbershop, gas station, post office,.....

Worked most of the movies shot in and around Canton. My Dog Skip was fun to do using more of the town than the others. Unfortunately, the owners of the house used as the leads home has fallen into some disrepair and the city, while touting it on its tour, won't help paint it. Never can have nice things in Canton. Happy for Clinton getting the nod on this one.

4:40, its not "about Mississippi". Its about a family moving to a charming small town and then one of the spouses has an affair and breaks it off, and the third party turns out to be a murderous psycho. Have you never seen even ten minutes of a Lifetime movie?

Anonymous said...

That's ok 9:48, you're gonna die anyway, so just relax and let it find you.

...must have a negative covid test in past 24 hours.

Those things aren't free. They're also meaningless 24 hours later.

What aged children? I have a daughter who is a theatre major that seriously looks 14 or 15. People always think she is my other daughter's daughter! That gets embarrassing, but makes her an excellent choice for younger, yet more polished roles. She has already been nominated for a Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival Award.

I rarely bother to read, much less reply to, the predictable idiotic rejoinders to my rare comments, especially if I see the overused/misused word “Karen” anywhere...but I truly do think I’m right about this, I can’t be bothered to go through each reply and point out the flaws of logic and stupidity in some comments, but. 1) Yes, schools are open, but they require masks and distancing. Try those protocols on a movie set!...2) Yes, I will die one day, and am well aware of that. But just as I don’t trot across a busy street without looking both ways, I don’t disregard our mask/wash/distance edicts...3) Hairdresser? Indoor restaurant? Nail salon? I have forgotten what those even look like, and so should y’all, for now. I don’t feel cowardly at all, any more than British parents did, shuttering their windows and turning off their lights at dusk during WWII blackouts. What we are facing may not be as obvious as a screaming bomb, but it’s just as real and deadly. This virus doesn’t give a shit about your swaggering bravado. And you know what? i hope you learn this the hard way,

I am 100% with 9:48 on this. The ones who need to “lighten up, Francis” on this topic are the idiots who are just going about thir lives as if nothing is happening. We have to grocery shop, we have to go see the doctor, we have to put gas in our cars...but we do NOT have to breathe our air all over each other in a movie set, or go to a restaurant, or hug ANY relatives utside our household bubble...those are luxuries we’ll enjoy one day, but can we not all just STOP for a few months more? Not that much to ask.

Dr Truly said he was still getting his Royalty checks from the movie (A Time to Kill) made in Canton.

Might be worth looking into

@1:27...U B more right than U know. My father went through the depression as an adult & even though he died almost 40 years ago, he never related anything of this magnitude. If this were a real pandemic, the Government would be issuing Virus particle size Respirators (Not anything that passes as a Mask). The only thing I know that is effective is Powered Air Purifying Respirators & decontamination procedures. There are numerous studies performed on the 1st SARS about N95 not protecting from viruses. Now we have Portland Riots for 221 days & that was in January. Who envisioned so many "Inalienable Rights" being tossed aside in such a short time. Well it actually began decades ago. The devout followers play the long game. How do you eat an Elephant? One bite at a time. Even FDR, who was socialist at best, warned against allowing Government Employees/bureaucrats to Unionize. Eisenhower in his farewell speech warned against the Military Industrial Complex. The US is bankrupt. A recent statement by China said America had just about reached the point where they wouldn't be able to continue to borrow money. But Mississippi was 1st this time. When the Jackson Councilman went on TV and told residents to throw rocks & bottles at LE from Rankin chasing suspects back into Jackson, he was already on the cutting edge.

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
