Angelique Lee will be the new Councilwoman for Ward 2 in Jackson. The Ridgeland resident clobbered former Hinds County Sheriff Tyrone Lewis 60-40. She received 1,672 votes while Mr. Lewis got 1,110 votes.
This is going to be interesting. City Council President Aaron Banks managed Mr. Lewis's campaign. Now he has to work with the woman he tried to hard to beat. This is one reason why councilmen and aldermen should not get involved in their colleague's races. Now there will be some bad blood.
Give credit to Ms. Lee. She busted her ass and simply wanted it more. Lean and hungry sometimes means hungry enough to do what it takes to win. Ms. Lee won.

Good for Ms.Lee
Congrats !
But I was hoping to see some new Happy Valentines / Mother's Day billboards if Ty-rowne had won.
A win for the City of Jackson.
Looks like the whites in the Republican Club win again!
Interesting that you refer to her as a 'Ridgeland resident'. Stir that pot, KF. And, yes, we're all aware of the ongoing conversation as to where she may or may not stay.
We have a loser: Ward 2 They lost the moment Priester decided he had enough.
What? No recount?
It doesn't make any difference where she stays.
JPS for thee but not for the children of Ms. Lee!
True champion of ward 2. Lives in Ridgeland. Doesn’t send her kids to JPS.
Councilwoman Lee will be an excellent council person. She is qualified for the job and will bring a true caring desire to make a positive outlook for Jackson. She is not there for self, but for the people
5:39. It is not where she "stays". It is where she "lives". What is this "stay" crap?
Will the victory party be in Madison County?
Priester Jr. will be surely missed. Congrats to Lee!
7:25am I totally agree! My daughter went to JPS in the early 1980s. No way in hell will I jeopardize any child’s safety in the 4th thru 12th grades at JPS.
I personally know gang bangers and young as 6 year old not only in Jackson but other cities also! It ain’t the kids fault, it’s the sorry ass parents of these little darlings!
7:49 AM
Anyone with a brain doesn't send their child to JPS.
I think at least one of her children attends St. Joe. But she's a BIG supporter of JPS. Like David Blount.
So I assume in January when JPS returns to the classroom that her children will be attending the correct school that corresponds with the address she used to qualify for voting residency, right?
8:20 - In terms of political correctness, which this blog demands, it is indeed 'STAY'.
There is currently an open City Alderman seat in Madison. We need some Hinds County folk to pick up an application packet at City Hall in that city.
Mary said Madison, The City, is all inclusive, not for sale and progressive.
Pretty woman's syndrome strikes again!
Remember when Lumumba Lite was talking about having to live in Jackson to work for Jackson. Does he not talk about that now? What about a commuter tax?
Looks like smart woman's syndrome strikes again!
The citizens of Ward 2 were not fooled by dirty politics. They/we want to continue to have leaders who want to be public servants more than typical politicians.
@8:47 AM - application time is long passed. Suck eggs, troll.
She sure is pretty.
Where do you "stay"9:13? Is that also where you "live"?
Aaron Banks the Barney Fife of the Hinds County Sheriff's Patrol
8:20 - don't you recognize sarcasm when you see it???
She must NOT be smart because the kids WILL be in JPS now and she will shopping on Northside Drive.
So glad she whipped Tyrone's ass. He's been worthless every since I knew him on the JPD.
Do away with borders all together. Let anyone run for any position statewide, just as long as they do the job.
Jackson is third world now. But since the US s chomping at the bit to join the third world perhaps Jackson is taking the leadership role it claims.
They/we want to continue to have leaders who want to be public servants more than typical politicians.
Err, uh, sorry, her residency scam actually means she is the typical Democratic Party politician. Try again.
1:47. Best post of the day. She, Crisler, Stokes and the rest of her election entourage don't care and refuse to see the damage to our system things like this cause.....they are way too selfish.
Ward 2, "everybody plays the fool. . . There's no exception to the rule."
December 9, 2020 at 3:00 PM; just a little clarification; it's not a matter of whether or not they refuse to see the damage, they just don't give a fuck. as long as they are in charge, nothing else matters.
3:00. Clearly you are of the "other" skin tone persuasion. We DON'T care. Move to Madison if you don't like how "we" run things. Better yet Rankin. Rankin will "fit" you better. Madison will not, as it is "changing" (to our way) daily.
There should be one abandoned house in every ward declared as a candidate house and whoever wants to run can use that address. Winner has to fix it up. Do that for every election and you'll get a couple of fixed up houses over time.
They are all going to have to run again in six months. Don't count Tyrone out. Next election will have 10X the voters of this special one.
Who is the "WE" that LMBAO is referring to? It is no wonder why Jackson and JPS have gone to hell and morons are clamoring for commuter taxes. Sure, impose a commuter tax and guarantee that those few businesses that haven't left Jackson already will be closing their doors in Jackson and racing to Madison and Rankin Counties too. This ridiculous and racist "we" versus "they" attitude prevents the city from ever improving.
What's Leftenant Graham's position on this residency thing? I never make up my mind until weighing his comments and thoughts.
