Protestors attacked St. Richard Catholic Church Saturday night.
Parishioners were horrified upon arrival at Mass Sunday morning to discover the Virgin Mary statue lying on its side. A torn American flag tied around its head. The lovely garden was vandalized as well. Fortunately, the statue was not damaged. Volunteers rolled up their sleeves, got to work, and restored the damage as much as possible.
Father Nick Adams announced the vandalism at the 8 AM Mass yesterday (after giving an excellent homily).
Kingfish note: Ironically, Green Oak Nursery offered to donate any plants to replace any that were destroyed in the attack.
If anyone has any pictures of the vandalism, please send to kingfish1935@gmail.com or kingfish1935 on the encrypted Wickr app.
The word protestors was used because of the use of the American flag. Churches are vandalized from time to time and the surrounding area has its fair share of crime. However, tearing the American flag into pieces and then tieing it around the head of the Virgin Mother, well, that pushes it to another level.

Warn the law abiding citizens, then tactical nuke. Start over from scratch. The only way at this point.
Vandalism or protest?
It takes a special kind of degenerate to vandalize a house of worship.
Some statues at a Catholic church in Atlanta were damaged right after 9/11. Ignorance knows no bounds.
@12:40, ah, yes, let us nuke a city just as Jesus would want us to.
the American flag makes it a protest. the rest is vandalism, breaking and entering and general bad behavior by a bunch of pieces of shit.
no doubt one of those troublesome Amish yutes on rumspringa. seriously though, this is brought to you by the LSDPC group; liberals, socialists, democrats, progressives, communists. all actively working to destroy western civilization so they can instill their wonderfully dystopic version of utopia. which, i'm sure, will be full of freedom and liberty for anyone with a different opinion. if you vote LSDPC, then you approve of this behavior, along with arson, rioting, looting, murder, and the destruction of history, family, values, ethics, morals. so much peace, love, tolerance, inclusion, and diversity from the LSDPC, i think i need to go clean my guns.
This is tragic. Mother Most Chaste, pray for us. St. Michael, defend us in battle. We will not be defeated.
Sad. At least St Richard's is still open. My old school and church, St Mary's Catholic in West Jackson closed long ago.
This is beyond tragic.
It's absolutely sickening.
pastor is wrong. its not a lack of education about Mary that makes people vandalize. That matters not. He is wrong. He's being much too nice.
this isnt about education or lack thereof any more than say HIV is about lack of healthcare or poor JPS education is simply bc students lack laptops. This is a heart and morals issue.
1:08. you need a new tin foil pyramid hat.
Just like the exorcist only with an American twist. Vandalism, pure and simple
During the Spanish Civil War Socialists would exhume the graves of nuns and priests and desecrate their bodies in public. Leftists know no bounds to their evil.
Just another ‘mostly peaceful’ protest. Nothing to see here.
What constitutes a hate crime?
This is a hate crime. Meant to intimidate.
Find the criminals and punish them under hate crime law.
it's not a hate crime because it was committed against christians, mainly white christians. you know, the ones that are all that's wrong with the world.
August 3, 2020 at 2:45pm, this is 1:08, my tin foil hat isn't pyramid shaped, it's a boonie style hat. it offers more protection from the sun. anyway, prove me wrong. it's not a bunch of conservatives, trump supporters, right wingers, or christians trying to burn down businesses and federal buildings in portland and other cities across the country. we aren't blocking traffic and then attacking the cars and drivers for using the roads that are illegally blocked. we aren't the ones burning churches and desecrating statues of Jesus and Mary. it's the LSDPC crowd. spend a few minutes reading the goals and objectives of pANTIFArt and BLM, and then come back and tell me how committed they are to upholding all that is good with this country. cause they aren't. now, if you'll excuse me, i still have some guns to clean.
Hate crime is a crime, typically one involving violence, that is motivated by prejudice on the basis of race, religion, sexual orientation, or other grounds.
@4:27 PM
Tell this to the Ole Miss student the put a noose around the James Meredith statue. Although what he did was stupid, at the least, he harmed no one, but yet was charged and convicted of a hate crime. What he did didn't even rise to the level of vandalism since there was no damage. Again, he was stupid but not criminal.
I cannot imagine how sorry an individual has to be to deface or destroy the property of a church. We are living in bad times with some truly disturbed and misguided individuals.
This world needs all of Jesus and none of MSNBC, CNN, FoxNews, etc.
4:56 PM It was criminal. He will have a lifetime record as a convicted criminal.
Protesters? From your article it appears to be pure vandalism!
I doubt kf meant anything by that term. The thugs that desecrated this House of Worship are anything but "protesters".
Back in the Day, the Pope would have already had some of his Swiss Guards on a flight to that sh*t Hole commonaly referred to as Jackson, Mississippi.
We need to find them and set an example, Old Testament style! I’ll work on forgiveness afterward.
Perhaps I missed it but I haven't seen any mention of this vandalism or the theft at Green Oak Nursery on any of the local media outlets.
@6:04...I know that. My point is it shouldn't be a criminal offense. People absolutely destroy other statues and monuments and they are "heroes" in the eyes of the MSM. As I said, the Ole Miss student was stupid for doing his deed but it in no way rises to a criminal act and should not have been prosecuted as one. Seems to be a bit of a double standard doesn't it.
The pastor of St. Richard’s is the self admitted whistle blower for the shenanigans of that Mexican priest who faked cancer and was protected by the Jackson diocese. Coincidence?
9:11, I’ve been out of pocket and wondered if this was on the news.
We don't necessarily "know" it was "Protesters". However, we do know these are deranged lunatics. As far as the American flag pieces are concerned, what type of mental illness would cause someone to do this? Frankly if they are caught, and I hope they are, they should be beaten with a cane to within an inch of their lives. I'm so sick of all this mess from BOTH sides of the aisle. Does anyone have any decency left?

KF, maybe the flag was an attempt to make vandalism look like protest. They may be laughing that you bit.
At August 3rd at 2:38.
It’s more than what u mentioned. It’s a SPIRITUAL ISSUE and it’s a HUGE issue
with any and all protesters who damage property and try to hurt people.
If their spiritual side was right they wouldn’t do what they do.
Regardless of motive, this was a vile act. Destroying church property is unforgivable. Good luck at the pearly gates.
@12:56: see Sodom and Gomorrah
