To mask or not to mask, that is the question that drives men mad so. Two incidents in Jackson brought out the worst in people on both sides of the issue. The first involved a Fondren Presbyterian minister who suffered an assault:
While the Pastor graciously turned the other cheek as befitting a man of faith, the spitter needs his ass whupped. There is a legitimate debate on how useful masks are. There are always nuts on both sides of every issue. However, spitting on or assaulting someone for wearing a mask? You need your ass whupped. Actually, the spitter deserves is to be placed in a public stockade for a few hours, masked and gagged of course.
Did I mention the other side? Check out a Fondren Karen on social media:
It probably doesn't hurt she is a JPS employee getting that guaranteed paycheck (and not one of the lower-paid ones either), unlike many formerly hard-working folks in Mississippi. In fact, I've noticed the loudest shutdown proponents on social media are getting regular paychecks. Nothing like being down with the struggle when the bills don't pile up.
Oh, and I wear a mask, a nice P-95 mask but you know what? I'm not going to run around snitching either.

he showed a lot of restraint by not responding. someone is going to spit on the wrong persons mask one day..
Every crisis provides the opportunity to reveal the best and worst of society. You will find that the somewhat dim bulb country boy (cajun navy) becomes the most sincere and thankless hero, while self proclaimed heroes like nurses in empty surgical wards spend more time attention seeking with dance videos and posting nude selfies on OnlyFans. And meanwhile teachers play hall monitorand mask Nazi at Kroger.
I am very supportive of wearing masks when in public. There is plenty of evidence they cut down on the amount of infectious material spewed by a person when talking, coughing, or sneezing. The debate is mainly around the false sense of security a mask may provide and encouraging wearers to engage in risky behavior.
The Home Depot person would have been better served by just writing to the corporate division and encouraging them to ensure wearing a mask was a requirement for all employees. Posting in public the way she did is a sure-fire way to generate controversy and further hard feelings by the extremists on both sides. On the other hand, I do think it is fine to have a public group naming places that don't require mask usage so at-risk people can avoid them. It is all about the intent. Being helpful is fine.
If I'm not mistaken, Home Depot uses self-checkouts more heavily than Lowes does. I can't remember when I used self checkout at Lowes while I always use it at HD.
Good for the First Pres pastor. Maybe Mike Lowrey will get pay back for him.
That lady works at one of the handful of JPS schools where she wouldn't get runoff by the kids.
One of the co-founders of Home Depot has been trying to help out small businesses. Also, Home Depot is self checkout minus in the nursery last I checked.
Not quite on point, but still relevant, IMHO.
RE: Home Depot in Madison. Email sent to HD national "customer service" office two weeks ago. No reply.
Message begins here:
If the curb-side pickup program is going to work during this time of social distancing, you may wish to consider explaining to your employees that they are lucky to still have jobs. I understand that there are some issues during this time of national crisis and stress, but. . .
I did everything right. I signed onto my HD account, found my items, bought and paid for them on line for free at-store, curb-side pickup, printed my receipt, waited until I received a confirmation via email that my items were ready for pickup. Next, I drove to the store and waited a safe distance from other customers and staff and called the phone number given for the store. The automated telephone attendant ask me to state the reason for my call. I replied “curb-side pickup” and was immediately transferred to the truck rental department. I wished to pick up some electrical items, not rent a pickup truck. No one ever answered the phone. I hung up and started over. This time I said “operator” to the automated attendant, and, after a few repetitions, I was informed that I would be transferred to “someone who could help.” I was placed on hold again. I waited on hold for almost six minutes. No one ever answered. There was a “curb-side” attendant sitting in front of the store and I told her through my vehicle window, and from a safe distance, that I was on hold and no one was answering. She spoke into her radio and she informed me that I should continue to hold and that someone would answer “directly.” No one ever did. A few minutes later, I told the same attendant that I was still on hold and was met with the glazed eye and concomitant facial expression that clearly transmitted the “I don’t care" message. The said attendant continued to sit on her chair and play on her hand held device.
Finally, I parked my vehicle, masked and gloved up, and waddled into the store. I placed myself at the back of the line. After a bit, a cashier ask for the next person in line to step forward. I presented my pickup paper work and mentioned that I was supposed to have curbside delivery and the attendant outside could not be bothered to “get off her butt” and see to it. The cashier responded that they were doing the best they could with the number of people in the store. I told her that “vapid excuses did not advance the issue at all.” I was finally presented with my items, which were ready and correct, and which I accepted with appropriate gratitude. I then left the store.
Just wondering if HD has any response this narrative.
Thank you for your time an attention.
Signed,
Regular Customer and Account Holder
I find it hard someone spit in anybodies face over a mask. Yes did someone say get that mask off Rev but to actually spit in their face. Down in South Mississippi that will get your tail kicked even by a preacher.
When you said JPS, that said it all.
Now what really would have been interesting is if the priest had been an actual chemo patient and that’s why he was wearing a mask.
The Lowes on County Line has maybe one cashier on duty...if you're lucky. Past few times we went it was self checkout only.
The ONLY question or response to ANY government official or employee regarding masks should be... IF MASKS WORK, WHY THE PUSH TO RELEASE PRISONERS?
12:21 PM you sound like a fun person to be around.
The spitter does not need his ass whipped, as suggested. He needs exactly what the pastor gave him.
TO 12:21. When I first started reading the message to HD Corporate in your comment, I thought for a minute it was the message I sent to HD Corporate just last week. As I read on, I realized there were a few minor differences so it wasn't in fact mine -- (1) I never went inside the store; (2) when I finally received my curbside pickup and left, I discovered that they had given me only half my order; (3) When I called to ask about the other items, I was again put on hold, eventually getting the truck rental department and then being put on hold for another 15 minutes, I explained their mistake and not given me but one sack of items; (4) I went back to get the remaining items; (5) went through the process again including reaching the truck rental department before finally asking for a manager after having been given the suggestion that I could come inside because "they were extremely busy"
Other than those details, I could read almost my same quotes in the message.
As I suggested to HD, if they don't intend to provide the 'curbside pickup' they shouldn't advertise it or put up signs in the parking lot claiming that they do want the business and are willing to provide such service.
Frankly, after the second experience with them, I moved the remainder of my business to Lowes, at least for items that I couldn't get from Montgomery Ace, who provide excellent service and are glad to get your business.
I was in Ace Hardware last week and me and one employee were only people wearing masks in the place. 2 of 10-ish. Old white guy was loitering around looking for some virus in magazines he could suck in.
But just because I choose to wear a mask, who am I to judge someone who chooses not to? It's their decision. They may be right.
Every time I put my mask on I think about early March when everyone said masks did nothing to stop Covid and we didn't need to wear them.
Any witnesses?
Honestly, if you've traveled extensively and especially if you've traveled in Asia, face masks are not that uncommon. People wear them for any number of reasons: their own health or the health of others.
The fact that this has somehow been politicized is another sad chapter in our current political climate.
12:21, no reply because NOBODY reads crap that long. Including on here. But at least your fingers got some good exercise.
Anyone who has read "1776" by David McCullouch may remember that one of Washington's main issues with the Continental Army was having to deal with three or four distinct cultures. Reading this post reminds me that not a lot has changed. The New Englanders responded well to the need for discipline and order. Then there were the Virginians who mainly wanted to be treated with the respect due their backgrounds, and insisted that they not be subject to physical punishment. And then there were the folks from the "backwoods" and mountains, many of whom sported the famous "Don't Tread on Me" flag. Note the focus on "Me", which translates into "My personal liberty takes precedence over all other considerations." Many of us, and I count myself amongst them, would prefer the motto "Don't Tread on Us," but I cannot question the fact that many a backwoodsman gave his life for my freedom. What I see here is that in many respects not much has changed since 1776; the old cultural tensions still exist, constantly rearising in new forms but substantially identical.
I'm talking about white people of course. We've got a real cassoulet of cultures in this country now, but the "Don't Tread on Me" culture is in the ascendency. Given the disease loose amongst us, I can only beseech the Higher Power either to intervene directly, or to find a way for all of us to search for and find common ground. May cooler heads prevail, as my old Pappy used to wish.
@2:11
I bet you thought you sounded brilliant typing that. The Gadsden Flag is a symbol of unity between the colonies (We The People), against the tyranny of the crown. The fact that you don't understand the history of the Gadsden Flag renders moot whatever point you were attempting to make.
It's against the law to wear mask in Florida, Georgia and Louisiana.
I bet Karen is the same one that posts memes and stuff about masks to protect yourself and others, even though you may not need it, doesn't think the same applies for firearms.
Give me liberty or give me death. I will NEVER wear a mask and I will never stay home to avoid the possibility of catching a cold. Never have, never will.
2:08 wins. The contest for best comment is now closed.

Dan is super smart.
He’s a good dude too.
Don’t let hate and envy of intellect ruin your little life.
It’s ok....it’s gonna be fine
@3:04 More like refuse to help others and give them death, but hey go ahead and keep equating wearing a mask to protect society with tyranny.
1:57 - Guess not...., nor a police report.
@3:49
That is some ultra concentrated Grade A narcissism there.
Many years ago I had multiple rounds of chemo for a serious illness. Due to my reduced immune system, my physician recommended that I wear a mask when outside my hospital room and, later, my home. The physician also recommended guidelines for visiting/having visitors, eating restaurant food, and going to public places such as grocery stores and churches. I followed the physician’s recommendations down to the most minute detail. I believed that this was well-informed advice from an experienced scientist. If I had a relapse, I didn’t want my own irresponsibility to be the cause. The mask was hot and annoying, but served as an important measure of protection. Due to excellent medical care and advice, as well as a huge dose of divine grace, I have enjoyed many healthy years since. I still am immunocompromised due to other issues and have no intention of exposing myself to the public for several more weeks. When I do venture out, I will be masked. I understand on some level the politics involved, but why anyone would assault a person just trying to take care of herself or himself is beyond my understanding. The mask I will wear will be about ME and my loved ones, not about you or some political agenda.
Vita particles are around .15 microns. Smallest thing a cotton mask like the ones being worn by most people is 60-90 microns. Like trying to catch minnows with a net that has holes a foot in diameter. Simple physics people. This is the reason Fauci and others said wearing them made no difference back in March.
A surgical team wears masks, not to protect themselves from the patient, but to protect the patient from them.
No surgeon would ever say, "But I took a bath and am not sick." They know the damage they can do, so they wear a mask.
If you don't want to wear a mask, then stay the hell away from me, you nasty assed piece of viral positive shit. No I'm not worried about me, I am worried about you and out of consideration for my fellow man/woman/TG/?? I wear a mask, to protect you from me.
You'd think the more staunch pro-liberty folks would love the excuse to wear masks and go about their business anonymously, instead of being easily identified by our surveillance state.
@5:31 You're falling right into the "all or nothing" trap of misinformation being used to stir up controversy. Masks are not 100% effective. They cannot stop the virus itself. What they do stop is the droplets of spit that carry the virus into the air and infect other people. They also slow the velocity of the air which reduces the distance the virus is dangerous. Even then they are not 100% effective; however, depending on the material they have been shown to decrease the infectiveness of a cough or sneeze by 40% - 85% which is substantial even on the lower end.
And the reason CDC, WHO, etc. were adamantly against masks at the beginning of this situation is simply because they were trying to protect the supply of medical masks for the frontline medical workers. Once the supply chain was brought under government control they changed their message.
@6:43 No, sir it is you that is falling into the trap. Learn to comprehend what I am saying.
The solution to a potential virus-bearing vector entering a business is to give the customer the option to wear a mask or asked to submit to the no contact
infared thermometer test. The first protocol to even enter the door at the Cancer Center at Forrest General is to SUBMIT to the infared test. My test with the infared was 100.1. The nurse then retested with the oral thermometer which was 98.4.
If a customer refuses, tell him to take a walk
..in a nice way.
3:04 is the winner here. Liberty is worth political incorrectness.
Seriously doubt it happened.
Not first time pastor has tried to raise a virtue signaling position
This is the second video on JJ that I have not been able to watch. I have an iPhone 11. Is there something I’m doing wrong? Just need some advice
Its a Facebook video. plays fine for me in FF, safari, and Android.
If you cant trust a preacher, who can you trust?
This sounds like fake news from this man. Why does it matter that he is a pastor? Every fifth person in the South seems to be a pastor. Heck, even Al Sharpton is a pastor.
I know the Fondren Karen. She is a screaming liberal whose opinion is the only write answer or way. She is so full of herself.
If masks work so well, why does anyone care if you have one on as long as they have one on themselves?
Cloth masks catch the larger droplets that are being expelled during talking or coughing and they also limit the distance they can travel by slowing the velocity down. They don't do a good job of preventing entry of the virus. That is why it is more important for someone who feels fine but is infected to wear one, it greatly reduces the chance they can pass the disease on.
Masks aren't needed to protect the wearer, they are needed to protect the rest of the people that the wearer might infect if they have the virus.
Masks are useless. People touch their face 1,000 times more when wearing the stupid things than if they didn't wear them. Great for ensuring germs hang around your face, nose and eyes.
Go outside and spray paint something with black spray paint while wearing your mask and then go in and blow your nose. You'll see just how effective they are.
And I'm fine if you want to wear one because it makes you feel safe, but stop being a whiny snitch trying to shut down business for hard-working people because you don't like it. Stay home. Call a friend who doesn't care one way or the other and let them go shop for you.
@5:45 Using your own example, go outside and spray paint something with black spray paint while holding a cloth mask in front of the nozzle. You'll see how effective they are in keeping the spray from getting through. Sure, some will get through but a lot of it will be trapped by the mask.
Cloth masks aren't recommended to protect the wearer, they are recommended to reduce the spread of the disease from an infected person to an innocent victim. Wearing one doesn't make me feel safe, seeing others wearing them is what makes me feel safer and I'm willing to wear one too to protect others in case I have COVID and don't know it.
6:20 is absolutely correct. You need to educate yourself 5:45. My mask protects you from me. Your mask protects me and others from you. By not wearing one you are saying "I don't care about anyone's health but my own". A selfish and un-American attitude.
You might believe that you are not sick but are you certain that you have had no contact anywhere in the last 14 days with someone who is? You have no idea. So you might be walking around spreading the virus to everyone you meet. Is it too difficult for you to leave a mask in your vehicle and throw it on when you go into a store? That is not only good medicine, but it is also good manners.
"Fondren Karen" made me laugh. But, tbh, there is a decent number of Karens in the neighborhood. Wear a mask, don't wear a mask, but don't be so extra about it.
