The Mississippi Department of Health issued the following statement last week.
Today
the Mississippi State Department of Health (MSDH) reports one
additional identified case of a vaping-related lung illness in
Mississippi, bringing the state total to 11 with one death. Most of the
identified cases have been in individuals between 18
and 34 years of age, with two being in adults 35 years of age or older.
Nationwide, as of November 20, there have been 2,990 cases of lung illness reported from 49 states,
the District of Columbia, and two U.S. territories (Puerto Rico and U.S. Virgin Islands). Forty-seven
deaths have been reported from 25 states and the District of Columbia.
Symptoms
of severe vaping-related lung illness include cough, shortness of
breath, chest pain, nausea or vomiting, diarrhea, fever and fatigue.
Symptoms develop anywhere from over a few days of use to weeks of using
e-cigarettes.
The
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has identified vitamin
E acetate as a chemical
of concern among those who have reported lung illness from vaping. This
chemical can be used as an additive in vaping or e-cigarette products
that contain
tetrahydrocannabinol (THC).
However, other substances and product sources are also still under
investigation as there may be more than one cause of this outbreak.
The
latest national and state findings suggest that products containing THC
that were obtained from
informal sources (friends, family, online dealer, etc.) are linked to
most of the lung illness cases and play a major role in the outbreak.
Until an exact cause of this illness has been determined, however, the CDC recommends the following
actions:
- Refrain from using e-cigarettes or vaping products from informal sources, particularly those containing THC.
- If you have recently used an e-cigarette or vaping product and you have symptoms like those reported above, see your healthcare provider.
- Do not modify or add any substances to e-cigarette products that are not intended by the manufacturer, including those purchased through retail establishments.
- If you are an adult who used e-cigarettes containing nicotine to quit cigarette smoking, do not return to smoking cigarettes.

and vaping, visit the MSDH website at HealthyMS.com/lungillness.

Wow, this must be a very dangerous habit. How could the government continue to allow people to use these killer devices? Aren't they supposed to protect us from ourselves? Come on, government. Do your job and ban these horrible products before thousands of people die from them!!
Is it really an illness? It looks like a reaction to sucking vaporized fumes of some unknown substance. An illness makes it sound like the poor victim caught the doucheflu. Why anyone would huff some Chinese mystery fluid and not expect horrible things to happen is beyond me.
Somebody tell these dumbasses they are better off sucking the exhaust pipes from a 12v-71 Detroit 2 stroke Diesel engine. At least you know you’re inhaling diesel. The Chinese will do anything to harm Americans....
Fake news
Nothing wrong with vaping
That’s just scientists and doctors trying to rule you
Wake up it’s libtards and dims and Hillary
Have to agree with 1:35. Vaping has been around for years and nothing until some scientists and our Government, with an agenda, wanted it to be a crisis. Don't see why this is being followed so closely while smoking good ole Tobacco gets a free ride. Want to impress me, ban tobacco and vaping. Bet you can't do it without a take our guns type revolution.
"How could the government continue to allow people to use these killer devices? Aren't they supposed to protect us from ourselves? Come on, government. Do your job and ban these horrible products before thousands of people die from them!!"
Sure thing, skippy - right after they ban sugar from the kitchens of people with diabetes, and put all obese people on a diet until they get their BMI below 25. And don't forget cigarettes, which have a track records of having put millions of people in an early grave. Not to mention lots of other things that most people use/enjoy and don't want the government butting in.
It takes a real dumbass to not know this is bad for your lungs. Have you seen the plume of crap they exhale?
Inhaling a witches brew of vapor and chemicals and/or smoke...what could possibly go wrong? Nobody should be surprised that this crap is making people sick.
I don’t vape and don’t plan to nor do i smoke. These are all from cannabis or Chinese related mystery vapes. Not from Juuls or name brand substances. And I condone none of them. Wake up America. Meanwhile thousand die from alcohols tobacco drugs etc. and I
Baptist.
Here is a recent article that describes how Juul developed its formula based on 40+ years of internal research by tobacco companies, which was produced in discovery during the tobacco litigation:

To all the haters on this forum: kiss my @ss. Vaping helped me quit tobacco. I do it several times a day and been doing it for three years now with no illness. I smoked cigarettes for over ten years before picking up the vape. Tried nicorette and all other methods to quit smoking but this is one thing that worked. Been nicotine free for over 3 years thanks to vaping.
Legalize Marijuana; regulate; tax. Prevents black market fakes from being so appealing.
A simple problem with a simple solution but we cant get it done because we don't want to get it done.
Legalizing Marijuana polls at over 70% approval consistently (more popular than even tax cuts).
Find me one other issue Americans can agree on so overwhelmingly today?
I still see these fools stopped at traffic lights, blowing smoke out the window like diesel smoke from a '72 Peterbilt. Saw a guy walking into the Gluckstadt Shell this afternoon goin' and blowin', about to fall down he looked so damned sickly. Tell me how it got you off nicotine, fool.
All the neckbeards taking up for vaping and saying its a conspiracy by big tobacco is hilarious. No way sucking on that pen and blowing a plume of smoke the size of a diesel truck is any better than a cigarette, but keep thinking that. You also think fedora's are cool too.
