Ewwwww!

Stay away from the intersection of Carlisle and Monroe Streets in Jackson (by New Stage Theatre).  A fountain of raw sewage is flowing into the nearby creek.  The Pearl Riverkeepers posted on Facebook:

Third world problems in a third world city. Reminds me of my time spent in the Philippines.

Why has no one sued the city?

Time for the Banana Republicans to cover their eyes and pretend Jackson isn't a part of the state.

According to some local "news" outlets this morning . . . (either WAPT or WLBT, I honestly forget as they
are almost identical).

Anyway, these latest "fountains of liquid feces" aren't limited to Belhaven.

It seems these aromatic urban geysers are erupting all over Jackson.

And it's still a couple of months left before the temps REALLY drop below freezing.

6:07, the people affected have no money to sue, and the technically financially insolvent City of Jackson has no money to pay any damages that one year down the road just MIGHT be awarded, assuming there's any liability in the first place.

Anonymous said...

Mayor Baby Chok sez: "It's only the perception of raw sewage. Besides, we can't see it from our house on Pearl Orchard Park."

Why did the prior administrations allow infrastructure to get so dilapidated?

Sure would have been nice if care had been taken over the years.

What a bunch of dumbasses to leave the city in this shape.

Sad

When will Jackson be taken over by the State or Feds?

Anonymous said...

same thing has been going on north of meadow brook on the west frontage road for several weeks- raw sewage running in the street- if this was a private citizen causing this, the EPA would put the responsible party in jail.

Anonymous said...

@6:07

I think the EPA has sued the City of Jackson, or at least investigated. Maybe the consent decree only applies to the sewage treatment plant. Whatever it is the city in which I spent my first 50 years living gets two steps closer to death every day. Sad!

I am so glad I moved to Texas.

If this occurred as a result of any individuals negligence, the EPA, DEQ, Dept.
of the Interior, FBI and US Marshalls service would have a SWAT team, nationwide coverage and probably execute the offender.

But since its in a city run by minorities all I hear is crickets.

Anonymous said...

Sewer is CONSTANTLY flowing into our creeks here in Canton. DEQ does nothing.

Anonymous said...

Why has no one sued the city?

Prolly 'cause you won't prevail in court. Reckon?

Cities are comprised of people.

People run cities

We elect people to operate cities

Jackson was run from its beginning until 1996 by all white people and black people were Spurned and state statutes existed denying them from ever getting more money and power.

When black people started getting elected and getting money and power, white people moved out of Jackson

Moving White people were scared that what they once did by law to blacks would be done to them.....and so they ran...far up 55 and out 20 east.

Now those white people come here and say “look how shitty the infrastructure is in Jackson!!”

Those whites people failed to take care of the city and left it in a lurch.

Fuck those people.

@10:12
The neighborhood we are talking about here is basically white. Also middle class whites left Jackson for public schools. The whites remaining in city have loads of money and pay tuition. Stop your bitching

Have faith people! Cold weather is coming and liquid shit don't smell nearly as bad when it's frozen solid. Plus, you're sinuses stop up. See there...You gotta be positive!

That’s pretty close to The Barrington......I might be having second thoughts about puttin up my sugar baby in one of those units. If she smells crap I might be in trouble. So much for that discreet covert entrance thingy.

We should have a conversation about our cultural problem.

10:12 You referenced 1996. In that year the schools in Terry, Clinton, Pearl and Ridgeland were all overwhelmingly white. Today these schools are all majority black.

Black are bailing out on Jackson but that doesn't stop the "whites are the sources of all ills" narrative.

" Those whites people failed to take care of the city and left it in a lurch.

That's funniest comment I've seen in a while.

The "African Americans" have been in control of Jackson for almost 23 years now.
That's more than enough time for such "leaders" to begin addressing these issues.

Have they ?

I doesn't appear so.

But as a local "Radio Strong Man" correctly points out . . . these Black leaders are EXPERTS at giving each other award plaques for being the sixth or seventh "Black" assistant to the assistant deputy director of this or that city of Jackson "Department".

But that's fine, the good tax payers of the Capitol City pay for said plaques and corresponding banquets

Yeah 10:12. I can say that with a smile.

I am a Jacksonian.

Uh huh. It wasn't the white folks who appointed fools to the School Board who ran JPS into the ground. It wasn't the white folks who ran a major business out that paid $1-2 million a year in sales taxes. All it wanted was for Harvey to return their phone calls to it could get cut outs on Highway 80 but Harvey couldn't do that. It wasn't the white folks who signed Jackson up for bad bond deals that lined pockets and are bankrupting the city. It wasn't the white folks who change out police chiefs every year or two and then wonder why the police department is dysfunctional.

And by the way, I bet since you are complaining about the white folks leaving, you complained about all those Bennie Thompson radio ads during every city election that tells people not to vote for anyone backed by the white folks. That does bother you, right? You did have a problem with the DA framing Ben Allen as a favor to the Mayor so the business community would stay out of the Mayor's race, right?

Truth is, the only thing you want from the white folks is their money because you will call any white person who tries to help Jackson the K word and then call any black who works with the white folks interested in helping Jackson a Tom. I bet you never once complained about any of that.

KF, well spoken sir. Thank you. It was very much needed to be said

KF

You are from Louisiana and we’re not raised here in Jackson.

Prior to your being here the city was run into the ground.

Sewer and water and all things infrastructure were neglected for decades.

23 years in charge while the tax base fled is infinitesimal compared to the century plus of neglect and fraud city leaders perpetrated on Jackson.

To be specific, I "Liked" KF's response to the 10:12 AM comment.

I'm past being sick of the comments that everything is someone else's fault. KF laid out some perfect examples. If y'all are so smart to know that the infrastructure was being neglected all those years, then why the hell did you want to take it over? I left Jackson in 1997 after 50 years. At that time things were well MAINTAINED. Pipes broke but they were fixed in short order. Potholes appeared but they were patched when reported. Streets were regularly repaved. Drainage ditches were cleared on a regular basis. The sewage treatment plant didn't regularly dump untreated wastewater into the Pearl River. Trash was dumped illegally but it didn't sit and fester for years before it was removed. Criminals were arrested and judges punished them, severely when warranted. Teachers didn't have to fear for their lives at school. They could dish out punishment without fear of the parents attacking them or the administration firing them. Kids could stand on the corner waiting for their school bus without dodging bullets from drug lords out to get each other. My kids could leave their bicycles in the front yard overnight and it would still be there the next morning. So why is this the fault of past administrations? Suck it up and take responsibility for YOUR lack of accountability. The ship was not sinking when you took it over. You, the current residents are the ones that drilled a hole in the ship. Now you want someone else to do the bailing. NOT ME! It's so bad now that even the rats are fleeing.

6:58, nice try but your argument is bogus. Prior to 1996 Jackson had a healthy tax base. Since then the leadership of Jackson has driven the tax base away. I grew up in Jackson and I never remember a boil water notice (if they occurred they were rare), the streets were not great but nothing like the wheel alignment destroying conditions of today. Crime? I remember when Jackson was a low crime city.

6:58 is a lousy fiction writer.

23 years in charge while the tax base fled is infinitesimal compared to the century plus of neglect and fraud city leaders perpetrated on Jackson.

So whites have been driving Jackson into the ground since at least 1919? ROFLMAO What is even funnier is that you believe that.

Anonymous said...

Thanks 8:09, my youngest is in the Meadowbrook pre-k program. I’ve not bothered to call about the sewage out of knowing nothing will be done. We love the school, but will be gone in 6 months. Kindergarten in Madison, hopefully without sewage in the street.

Oh boy... the city better not fix this... otherwise stokes and that gasbag otha Cain will claim racism bc a white area is getting city services much like they did when the city filled a few potholes in belhaven 4 months ago. Of course otha Cain only has 4 listeners that take him seriously the other 9 just for laughs.

Anonymous said...

Deferred maintenance is neglect.

Prior administrations failed to do work to keep the water and sewer system up to date.

The epa has been on the city for decades to correct the issue.

Dale and Kane didn’t plan and when things started going south...they bailed.

Millions of people enjoyed the public systems of Jackson and then left. That happens.

Those same asshats now blog on here from Madison and Cato that this is somehow the fault of black people.

They use code words disguising their true intent...Listen to when the word “democrat” is used in a sentence....what the guy is saying is “black” or “n-:&4!3.” If a white guy calls you a “democrat” he is saying you are black. I know it’s true I hear it all the time.

Those same people comment here and are more culpable for Jackson’s physical condition than any one else in the area.

This is not hard to see....it’s just hard to acknowledge publicly.

And this site? Nothing but a hate group by and large.

When subpoenas fly (and they will one day) all these posts will be tied to the name is the owners.

Then....Ashley Madison times 1000

Keep hating and typing

@10:12 you are basically saying that the post-1996 elected black leaders aren’t capable of repairing things because they aren’t white? That seems super racist.

But ok, yeah. I assume your request to “F those people” is directed at the current black leadership and it’s failures.
They’ve had over 20 years to undo the mean ol’ ‘white mans damage’ to your fine city so it would be silly and racist if you were STILL mad and directing that FU to whites that left Hinds.

Or did you mean, you want white people’s money and you want those white people to live there without any elected representation and just shut up and hand over the funds because whites did that to blacks pre-1996 and whites owe you now?

Just wanted to clarify so I can clearly determine exactly how racist you are.

I'll jump into this conversation. I work in the water/sewer industry from a provider standpoint. You can never relax with this stuff. You have to constantly be planning and implementing from a standpoint of maintenance, replacement, etc. You have to consider your infrastructure lifespans and work towards that. Too many people keep kicking the can down the road. If you install something today, and it has a 100-year lifespan, what is your plan to replace it? If your plan is to pay 50% and borrow 50%, then you better be saving 1/100 of that 50% every year so that you will have the money when the time arrives. It's like planning for college for your kids. It's a heckuva lot easier if you start saving when they are born, versus waiting until they are 16.

The recent Jackson administrations have done nothing toward infrastructure maintenance, replacement, repair, etc. However, you don't get into these situations overnight. Years of neglect and mismanagement are coming back to haunt them. The problems very well might stretch back 50 years. But the last 20 years or so has just been horrible. Run off the taxpaying citizens, blow money on studies, etc.

Streets and drainage are tax based. Since they don't produce revenue, tax dollars are used for repair and replacement. Water and sewer produce revenue. So it should be run like a stand-alone business. The rates should be set at a level that funds the repair and replacement. AND YOU HAVE TO COLLECT ON THE BILLS!

The problems that Jackson is seeing can happen anywhere. All surrounding areas should watch and learn. Don't repeat the same mistakes.

Anonymous said...

@6:28 AM - you must be one of them democrats. Stop your whining.

Anonymous said...

Continuing to point the finger at someone else doesn't fix the problem. Going over 100 years (or whatever it is) of presumed neglect doesn't fix the problem. Maybe the past officials are out of office for exactly this reason.
But, whoever is in charge NOW, wanted the job. So, the proper course of action is: DO THE JOB YOU WERE ELECTED TO DO!

Anonymous said...

I'm the poster at November 25 3:00 PM above. I do want to say that the poster at November 26 1:30 is correct. It really doesn't matter what my predecessor did. Maybe my predecessor did an awesome job, or maybe my predecessor did a terrible job. All that matters is what type of job I do based upon what I was hired to do. So constantly blaming something on the ones before you doesn't get you anywhere. If you think they screwed it up, then roll up your sleeves and start fixing it. The City of Jackson likes to spend too much time playing the blame game, when they should be focused on fixing the problem. I actually think Robert Miller (public works director) is doing a pretty good job. He just has more challenges than he can possibly handle.

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
