I don't understand why the Greenway Drive incident has not gotten more coverage.
Unless I am uninformed, this guy was here from out of town and got murdered. Maybe it was a bad drug deal, but killing visitors should justify a full court press from the PD and the city.
next-
10:27, you really think Hizzhonor Mayor Chokeme and his people are going to react to an out-of-towner getting killed over and above Jacksonians that have been murdered? That wouldn't be smart.
Regarding the Greenway Drive murder, I feel sorry for folks from out of town that decided to stop in Jackson that don't know the lay of the land. There is not one safe area on either I-20 or I-55 within the Jackson city limits to stop and get gas, get something to eat, or stay overnight in a hotel. Folks passing thru that do stop are literally risking their lives if they do. What a sad state of affairs!
I do perceive a perception of crime.
11:54 a.m.,
You are quite the drama queen. What an absolutely ridiculous comment that does not even justify a response.
11:30 AM: Your one word is so telling. You are a despicable human being - Sitting there trolling and awaiting something you deem more newsworthy and fulfilling, most likely someone's downfall. These crimes are serious matters. Lives have been lost. People are grieving.
Dang! Thanks for the info 11:54. As a longtime resident of Jackson, I've been buying gas, and eating at restaursnts, all over I55 north. (Haven't had a need for a hotel room, guess I just haven't been lucky on that front as I have been to survive the filling up of my belly and my car.)
11:30’s reference went completely over 12:39’s head. Do try to keep up.
Nope, 11:30/4:19. I do keep up here and stand by the comment at 12:39.
People traveling through Jackson simply have no clue. Stopping anywhere could spell trouble. And, no, that is NOT the same as stopping anywhere in Vicksburg, Clinton, Madison, Flora, Byram, Brandon or Pearl.
I still shake my head over the unfortunate bass fisherman, here for a national tournament during the admin of Chokwe, the elder. Murdered outside his Motel Six room on I-55 when he saw some thug rifling through his bass boat. Nobody told him to NOT get a room in Jackson. Chokwe never brought it up an neither he nor his police chief bothered to communicate with the tournament and certainly should have attended the prayer at the opening ceremony two days later at the Reservoir.
The tournament opening ceremony at that event started with a prayer service in remembrance of the slain participant. Noticeably absent? Anybody representing the city of Jackson.
Had this man been a black man here for a civil rights meeting, Obama would have flown in Justice Department officials to gather on the steps with Chokwe.
As is always the case, any mention of this will be slammed by the Kingfish radar monitor.
11:54 is not a drama queen. I feel the same way and have lived in these parts for decades. Those of us who live in the area are risking it. Add an out of state tag and you almost double your risk.
When was the last time you felt like you really needed to be 'aware of your surroundings' if stopping for dinner in Madison, Flowood, Flora, Pocahontas or Brandon?
I agree with drama queen.
The drama queen goes pee pee when he sees his shadow.
Can anyone tell me what the YTD homicide count is?
