His house note is $3322 a month, which means he is living in a house worth approximately 450,000-500,000.

He clams to have 3 car notes totaling 1938 a month (including, according to him, paying for his son's car note.) Interestingly, although the dad claims to be paying for a Mercedes, the son says he isn't because it's been returned to the dealership. And although the dad claims to be paying for the son's car note too, the son says he's paying for it, not his dad. So one of them is lying.

He pays a maid 400 a month.

And he pays 1513 a month for life insurance with his sorry-ass son (who got him into this mess) as the beneficiary.

Last but not least, he claims he pays 6000 a year, or an average of 500 a month for Biloxi Suckers season tickets, where he sits front row behind the catcher, i.e. prime seats. (But in his tv interview, the son says he pays for them, not his dad. So once again, one of them is lying.)

So Dad claims he's paying the son's car note and for season tickets to the Shuckers games, but the son says he's paying for them, not the Dad. Is Dad claiming expenses that aren't really his and that he really isn't paying ? Or is the son lying when he says he's paying them, not the Dad ?

With all due respect, if any is due at all, this man is living a very, very good life with lots of luxury items most people can't afford. I agree with the judge that he doesn't seem to be attempting to reduce his bills and pay his debt at all. He seems to be spending it on lots of luxury items.

Here's a simple way to reduce his monthly expense so he'll be able to pay his debt:

-Sell his 450,000-500,000 house and move into a 150,000 house for which a note payment would be about 1200 a month, thus saving him about 2100 a month there.

-Sell the Mercedes and Land Rover and get 2 used cars that will cost him about 500-600 a month, saving him about 1200-1300 a month.

-Cancel the life insurance which is a luxury he simply can't afford. (If he wanted to leave money for his son or grandkids as he claims, he shouldn't have defrauded the state of hundreds of thousands of dollars which he now has to repay.) That would save him 1513 a month.

-Stop having a maid, which would save him another 400 a month.

-Don't buy Shuckers season tickets which would save him another 500 a month.

This was very simple to cut. In 5 minutes I just saved him 5713-5813 a month, which is more than enough to pay the state 5000 a month. He's had over a year and has yet to figure out how to cut his budget which I just cut in 5 minutes. Geees, these guys are still defrauding everyone around them, and I'm glad Judge Starrett easily saw through it.

DMR has been around for decades and decades, It was not created in 1994, it was actually a renaming of the Old Mississippi Seafood Commission. This was done by Senator Tommy Gollott due to the passage of the Saltwater fishing license bill that had been vehemently defeated by the Gollott family for half a century. The Seafood Commission was created by the Seafood Industry to police the industry. all of the Comissioners were Seafood Industry executives as are the DMR Board today. It has always been one of those creations where the term having the Fox guarding the Henhouse got started!!

oh and 40 miles of Coast line wouldn't cover Horn island's coast line, much less Mississippi, there is way over 40 miles in Hancock County alone

Mississippi’s “coastline” is about 90 miles, not 40, and that’s doesn’t included the conplex system of bays and estuaries that feed the sound, as well as our barrier islands. I’m fine with having a Dept of Marine Resources, just not with it being corrupt and mismanaged. The commenter probably has no problem with the generational welfare that is way too ramapant in this state.

All of the figures cited by 2:28 were not only in the Sun Herald and WLOX articles, but they are also in the government's pleadings filed with the court. Those figures are factual and are before the court, which you would have known had you bothered to read the article you're posting about, and those figures are the basis for the court holding him in contempt.

I've been called many things. Dumbass usually isn't one. Smartass more likely. The reference to geology in my original post was intentional.

A simple map should be clear to just about anyone there is more than 40 miles of "marine" coastline in Mississippi, which covers geography. Whatever a "marine" coastline is? In the simplest terms, my reference to geology was regarding the physical structure and substances that have created and continue to create Mississippi's marine" coastal environment.

Also, the geology reference was for the original poster and those folks who spend a great deal of time online and don't leave the safety of the Jackson "metro" area regularly. Some folks might not have a true understanding of the geological difference between their own gated community's freshly maintained lawns, and the geological makeup that constitutes the "marine" coastal areas of our great state. Based on your post and others here - your frame of reference and the intellectual well being you exude is a rarity.

Glad Bill is going to have a few months in jail to figure out how he is going to cut his expenses in order to start repaying his restitution. Regardless of the geologic and geographic situation he finds himself in at his new home away from home after his sentencing. Hopefully, for the taxpayers of this state it will be time well spent.

Fish, is there any way you could let us know the sources of the Bill Walkers' $16,623 a month retirement income? This is a large number (especially for civil "servants").MUCH higher than the average hard working American.
