A Hinds County grand jury indicted Hinds County Assistant District Attorney Jamie McBride for two counts of conspiring to hinder prosecution of criminal defendants. The indictment alleges he acted as a partner in crime with Hinds County District Attorney Robert Shuler Smith and former Assistant District Attorney Ivon Johnson. The indictment states:
The case is assigned to special Judge Larry Roberts.
that, ROBERT SHULER SMITH and JAMIE K. McBRIDE, in the First Judicial District of Hinds County, Mississippi on or about and between the dates of December 1, 2015, and June 22, 2016, did then and there knowingly, unlawfully and feloniously, without authority of law, conspire with Ivon Johnson and with others known and unknown to the Grand Jury to commit the crime of Hindering Prosecution in the First Degree in violation of § 97-9-105 of the Mississippi Code, 1972, as amended, by conspiring to hinder the prosecution, conviction and punishment of Christopher Butler in Hinds County Cause Numbers 12-452 and 12-831....

Only thing missing would be to find out they were banging the same women as Yarber.
Damn. Hate this for Jamie McBride. Wish him the best.
Has he been arrested and charged? If so, when will the charges be dropped?
5:43 - What's up with that post?
Jamie is one of the good guys. This AG's office may have gone overboard on this one.
White AG and white ADA...say it ain't so.
6:39 Agree. Jamie is one of the good guys. Never had a problem. The AG's likely gone overboard here.
No way McBride is involved in wrongdoing. Something is not right about this,
Wow, ruin a guy's career because he tells you he has no personal knowledge of wrongdoing and just indicts and prosecuted the child molesters and rapists?
All the black dominos are falling. Where's the firebreak?
Jamie was in charge of prosecuting molesters and rapist. I wonder how much money he made dropping charges for guilty people. Shame.
I can not imagine Jamie being involved in this. He is one of the good guys for sure.
You mean one of the semi-good guys, or one of the formerly good guys. Mississippi is littered with white supposedly "good guys".
Dude quit talking to yourself. Good lord.
Don't think some people understand what the AG and the FBI have on these people. They confiscated cell phones from prisoners at the jail with incriminating evidence on them. They got text, emails, cooperating witnesses looking to cut deals. They got witnesses who will say the AD is a dope user. This stuff is long and deep.
Jamie McBride has never taken a dime and has spent his career putting societies worst in jail.
Well put 8:25. Well put. His ass is toast. Those of us privy to the insider "gossip" know that if ten percent of the talk is true, he better pack some Vaseline.
Right 8:25 that's why they were indicted Federally. No, wait, they weren't. For all the "Feds" involvement there sure seems to be little to no press releases from them. And that's not exactly their MO. They arrest anyone, its a full blown press release.
There is one competent attorney in all this, that isn't charged or under investigation. And he's working for Smith. Jamie McBride, for those of us who have had cases against him, have found him to be honest, forthright, and hard working. The AG made a big mistake here. Jamie's crime was doing an affidavit that bucked the AG's story. I'll be very interested if anyone is standing in either entity, once this is over.
Jamie did a yeoman's work prosecuting some of the biggest pieces of **** in Hinds County. If he's been sucked up in Eyebrows' misdeeds, it's a sad day for all.
Dream on 8:36. This is all so far from it vet the fat lady won't even humming.
So the AG is 100% right in everything he tries to charge/convict RSS of but RSS's right hand man for years is squeaky clean?? What's up with all these folks jumping on the "innocent until proven guilty" bandwagon tonight?? I've never see that before on this site.
@9:36
Right, and we haven't seen an affavit from Shaun or Pat swearing that McBride's affidavit was false.
@9:00 apparently because these people have a working knowledge of the local criminal justice system and know that there is no way McBride is involved in wrongdoing.
If he is innocent/upstanding and RSS is guilty why didn't he bail when all the others did, refuse to do an affidavit and tell investigators what, if anything, he knew? If nothing else this is a "lay down with dogs, wake up with fleas", "that's what you get" situation. BUT since Ivon was wearing a wire for last 9 months or so it's going to be much worse than we all anticipate. Damn Snitches..
Present indictment aside, it still looks like the original arrest of RSS in June was made to stop the grand jury proceedings set for that day by RSS.
Thus, the AG's office would be guilty of interfering w the grand jury process and prosecution also.
They either rushed to the arrest to stop grand jury from meeting or they are incredibly incompetent given it was such a high profile arrest.
There's more to all this......gotta be!
Are there any of Jamie's relatives and close friends who have not yet posted on his behalf?
Case files are full of guilty pleas from people who would never violate the law.
Now this adds an enexpected unwanted wrinkle.
Jamie is as stated generally perceived as beyond reproach having worked in Madison, Hinds, and Rankin counties prosecuting our least savory child molesters and such.
He filed an affidavit....and gets indicted?
With the addition of Jamie this case takes a whole new posture IMO
12:25. That's just it. Jamie would not knowingly violate the law. Something is bad wrong here.
Open your eyes and set your racist hearts aside...said:
@ Kim Wade, NOW YOURE ON TO SOMETHING!!! Finally someone sees this for what it REALLY is...it has been obvious from the very beginning! If Ivon was their informant, he told them what was about to go down at Grand Jury! Based on McBrides affidavit, two of their assistants were scared and anxious about being indicted in the days leading up to RSS's arrest! Then, you have RSS being arrested just moments before he's prepared to make Grand Jury presentments!!! Anyone with any piece of a brain can see what this is!
It has been crystal clear from the very beginning that Smith's arrest was an attempt to keep the Grand Jury from hearing whatever he was prepared to present that day!
After the Ben Allen indictment, I'm willing to bet there were a lot of anxious "individuals" all over Hinds County wondering who would be next. There is a ton of corruption in Hinds County, and my hope is that DA Smith continues in his pursuit to bring down any and every corrupt individual...whomever they may be!
This is bullshit.
Oh, man, not Jamie. He's one of the good guys. This is awful.
Jamie is an honest, hardworking attorney whom I have known for years. The likelihood of his knowingly doing something wrong is slim to none, and I predict he will be cleared of all charges.
What the heck is really doing on here? Did dirty cops plant dope on Christopher Butler, and did RSS piss off the cops by planning to present dirty cop evidence to a grand jury? Is Hood covering for dirty cops?
Jamie McBride avoiding prosecuting cases and spends most of his time at Buffalo Wild Wings ! There are cases upon cases he let child molesters walked. He also were agreeing to bonds that the county prosecutor was supposed to handle and got called out for it
By noon today, some of you "defenders" will be sorely disappointed. Hide and watch.
? What does Inmate/Convict Christopher Butler have on the Hinds County DA for him to put his career on the line and most of his Assistant DA's on the line for a god damn, lying, freeking piece of shit, INMATE!
If RSS will put his job on the line for a Convict , what other under the table illegal bullshit has he done? What ever Convict Butler is doing for the DA, it must be MIND BLOWING REAL GOOD!
This is troubling on so many levels. Whether the allegations of bought justice are true or false, our justice system fails when prosecutors' integrity is questioned. While prosecutorial abuse is not a new phenomenon, prosecutorial criminality is a damn sight worse. Just disgusting.
Jamie is one of the good guys. I've known him for years. This is bullshit.
Jamie is a "good guy". Good guys can make major judgement errors that are criminal in nature.
The question one of intent if that is the case.
It is obvious at this point that many of those posting just don't know, including me.
I would hope that the AG would have much more evidence than it appears prior to presentation of the case to a Grand Jury.
I have faith in Jamie and our justice system as well.
A lie is by nature intentional, a mistake is just that, a mistake.
I hope that this case hinges on more than the difference twixed the two.
Wait and see 8:52. Wait and see....
Ok 9:58, if you're in the know, then spill it. Otherwise you're a fraud.
If his boss is guilty as many say he is then he is guilty also. If not he would have turned in his boss long ago. Guilty or dumb as hell. You choose.
They were doing it for the money, not some deep feelings for a criminal.
10:20 if there is money tied to this....you sir are correct.
If there's no money...and no objective proof....and it's a swearing match....this case goes down the shitter
I agree with 10:14. Why would you play these childish games 9:58?
My bet is that you don't know sh@t about the factual basis of this case, certainly not to the extent that you boast.
If you watch the movie "Ghosts of Mississippi", Ed Peters and Bobby DeLaughter were stand up fellas too....!
Everyone thought Bobby Delaughter was innocent as well. See how that turned out.
8:20 did you mean noon central time? Pacific maybe? Cause it's 1 and we are all still waiting.
Keep waiting 1:05. It is coming. Then apologize.
1:31, again, spill it or shut up!!!!!
No not yet, 1:56. Then apologize.
Tick tock
Nothing yet
What could you possibly be talking about?
I believe you think something is afoot.....I just cannot discern what would be made public that you would know about and which you would comment about on this thread anonymously .....knowing these things are never really a anomomous if subpoenas are caused to be issued.
Wim Kaid: Once a Muslim.....
With all respect to Judge Roberts, how is it that Senior Status Judge Larry Roberts (State v. McBride, case # 2016-cr-837-LER) is appointed on a Hinds County case that was just filed yesterday, September 7th? There have been no recusals by the local judges, but a Senior Status Judge from Meridian is assigned a brand new case as soon as it is filed in Hinds County. There is no Supreme Court Order appointing Judge Roberts to this case. How does that happen? The capias does not name a judge in the body of the capias (the space for the judge's name is blank), so it looks like Mr. McBride's Capias may not be worth the paper it is written on.
Thanks 9:43. Everybody official is stupid except you stupid anonymous our bloggers (like me).
I didn't see the capias included on the blog. Did I miss it or did you see a copy of that elsewhere @ 9:43?
It appears that the clerk assumed, perhaps wrongfully, that the previous Supreme Court Order appointing Roberts continues to be effective.
As for the previous refusals:
The parties are essentially the same, the facts haven't changed and the issues are still the issues all envolving the DA and his staff and the same criminal defendants such as Butler. Furthermore, and most important is that once a judge has recused him/herself, that judge is prohibited from "unrecusing" him/herself.
11:21 I think that you meant "previous refusals".
Otherwise I pretty much agree, especially the part about no unrecusing once a judge has recused.
Some people just can't leave well enough alone.
Good point about Peters and DeLaughter. Everybody also thought Trent Lott and Dickie Scruggs were above reproach. And Jimmy Swaggart. And Tammy Faye Bakker. Wait....what was the man's name who used to be president of Mississippi College and wound up with a bunch of hookers and a slush fund? Noble? How ironic.
All admirable people. The list is a long one. Meanwhile, there are several black SUVs roaming around Canton.
It has been said prosecuting attorneys now have so much influence on grand juries that "by and large" they could get them to "indict a ham sandwich." I bet they only presented their side to the jurors. This indictment means nothing but a one-sided slanted view by an already biased group of prosecutors.
So, 5:08 . . . an indictment? That's what you described.
People are sentenced to years in prison on a daily basis. Each of these prison terms, 5:08 PM, is based on that "one-sided slanted" document referred to as an indictment.
