The City needs to address this tersely, and shut Stokes down. Protecting fleeing criminals from law enforcement in other jurisdictions, is a thoughtless response. How about telling people to clear the streets when they hear sirens? Or, better yet, lock up the thugs yourself, so they won't be on the loose in the metro area. With an eroding tax base, an under-performing school system, a pending departure of water treatment revenue from Madison and Rankin counties, and the potential loss of the airport, there's not going to be anything positive for the city left.

People are doing exactly what Stokes want them to do. He is wanting a city of only black thugs, criminals, and him. That way there isn't anyone with any common decency or common knowledge to see what a fool he is. It is easy to be Mr. Big when all you allow around is the scum of the earth.

UNBELIEVABLE!! Stokes called the Rankin County Sheriff a "Dumb Bastard" and the Governor of Mississippi "George Wallace, Jr.", apparently all in the same interview. Go watch it on the WAPT Facebook page. Glad I'm not under the jurisdiction of Jackson politicians - just wow!

Nobody denies what Stokes said, but Jackson is much more than that one man or his ward. Most people in Jackson don't approve of him, and the city counsel and the mayor did come out against him.

6:16, When a political leader of Jackson requests criminal attacks on law enforcement officers who are doing their job to chase and catch criminals who flee to Jackson, it leaves me with a very unsafe feeling in my gut when I think about being in Jackson for anything. Watch the video. The twit from the Jackson Advocate reads Stokes a three minute lob question about the First Amendment (which was never the issue), that boiled down to "Do you think the First Amendment protects your right to speak as a citizen?" It would have made the Maoists at JFP proud.

But the punchline was, as always, Stokes. Rather than simply saying "Yes, I think controversial speech is protected," he said "There is no question Kenneth Stokes is a citizen. And anybody who say different is a damn liar."

You don't have to mock him. You just have to let him talk.

Like a really bad dream!! Just watched the entire Stokes interview that is now up on the CL website. Worst possible publicity for the City of Jackson, and the worst possible spin by Stokes on the status of Jackson's race relations today. Pathetic on so many levels!

As much as some people would like to dismiss this as "one man", there are deeper issues here. First is that Stokes is in a position of power over the city of Jackson and, as such, has influence on how policy is enacted and how money is spent. This takes the problem out of the realm of a single man.

Worse, however, is the fact that Stokes verbalizes what a significant number of people in Jackson believe. Ward 3 continues to reward Stokes and his wife with election victory after election victory. If they disagreed with his years of idiocy they would have sent him home long ago.

This is not just one man. The sad thing is if Stokes is removed, Ward 3 will find another one to replace him. The problem is far deeper than Stokes.

How many national companies have pulled the plug on conducting business in Jackson because of this racist man. KIS is a major leader in the capital city of our state. He has made all the national news with his statements. When will the other leaders do something with him. His actions has given this state a black eye unlike anytime in our history. This city will only continue being an ever enlarging sewer while leaders like Stokes are in power. Only by prosecuting him will the city I am so proud of have a chance to reach its potential as so many other major cities have been able to achieve.

It's time for Mayor Yarber to step up and set the record straight on race relations in the City of Jackson, show that those relations are not as portrayed by Stokes, and give the Jackson-Metro area confidence that criminals won't be harbored with safe haven in Jackson. The truth is, if Stokes' stance on harboring criminals and his racist attitude actually reflects Jackson's attitude, which is what the public is seeing in the media right now, then flight out of Jackson by business and individuals is certainly condoned, and will probably increase at an elevated rate.

Mayor Yarber has a unique opportunity right now. He can take a stand against the racist and soft-on-crime attitude of Stokes, and give individuals and businesses confidence that Jackson's other leaders aren't racist and won't provide a safe-haven for criminals who commit crimes, anywhere. With the right words, taking the right position, Mayor Yarber could actually provide enough confidence to stem or reverse the tide of the migration leaving Jackson. This may well be the biggest test of Yarber's tenure. Can he lead?

Maybe I missed a class at med school about all the medical conditions associated with sweating but in my professional opinion, Stokes is about to die of a heart attack. No one sweats as much that has a long life ahead. If you want to rid yourself of this moron just keeping hammering him with questions. Nature will take its course.

I have given this some thought. I now know why most of the elected officials and the people in Jackson are supporting Stokes.
Most of the businesses, most of the working people, and anyone with a little money have already left the city of Jackson. If the rest can be forced out by the elected officials they can have the city they want. A city where most of the people have the water meters replaced with a straight pipe, a city where most of the citizens do not pay any taxes, a city know worldwide for it's pot holes, a city where criminals are protected, and a city that does not want a single white person in the city limits.

At one time I lived in Jackson. |About the time I decided to move to a safer area one neighbor put up an 8' chain link fence around his lot and house. Cops would stop by every once in a while trying to force him to take it down. The fence is still up. Looks like his house is about the only one untouched by the crime in the neighborhood.
Even some of the churches have to have locked gates and armed guards to protect the member's cars. Sort of hard to understand how a city would get to the point that church members had to pay for protection of their cars when attending a service.

That's funny you mention churches and guards. Didn't a thug crash after fleeing from the PoPo from a church parking lot (JPD, Kennuf, so it's not racist right?)? Luckily, it wasnt' the Rankin County PoPo so it's OK under double standards. "Law enforcement sources said the two yewts drove into a church parking lot in South Jackson. A JPD officer working security asked them if they were going to church. They said they just wanted to use the bathroom. He told them they were not for use by the public and that they needed to leave. One of them fired several shots in the air as they left. The officer notified JPD. They were driving down the street in one direction while a JPD cruiser passed them but going in the opposite direction. The police officer made a u-turn as she saw they were speeding but they were completely out of sight when she turned around as they high-tailed it at a high rate of speed. They later crashed. The police officer at no time gave chase because she lost sight of the suspect. In other words, they probably thought there was a chase for them even if none took place.

What the police did not know at the time is that the "victims" are suspected of committing an armed robbery this morning before the church incident. "

JPD never chased them. They freaked out.

Considering one of them was shooting a gun in a church parking lot, oh well. Don't really feel too bad about what happened to one of them.
