Crime, crime, crime. What to do about crime.

Mayor Tony Yarber hosted a town hall forum on crime last week at the Jackson Medical Mall.  Here is the complete video as well as some interesting video clips.

Small businessman Thomas Phelps had a few critical things to say.  His comments were followed by an advocate for the homeless.  There is a little contrast between the two comments.

The Nation of Islam made some interesting remarks as well, complete with an entourage in  place:

Here is the complete video.

The homeless advocate actually said it wasn't their fault they were homeless. The business owner before her said the homeless sit around drinking all day. Something doesn't jive here. If the advocate is to be believed, West Jackson is inundated with batshit crazy drunks who are only able to hang out at public parks and while away the time, poor things. Lost on the advocate is the point the business owner made: Rankin County doesn't stand for that so why should Jackson. To the advocate's credit, she did mention that Whitfield needs to do more. My question is why aren't they?

And about the Nation of Islam speaker. I stopped listening when he blamed high school girls for leading the boys astray. I mean, it isn't the boys' fault if the girls are taking their attention away from school and learning about more black history, which by the way is (according to him) the only way the black men can overcome society's injustice. And was all that security really necessary? Are they threatened to the point of using earpieces to spot potential problems? Is whitey that bad in Jackson? So many questions in only two short minutes of video.

The reason tthe state hospital can't hold " homeless people" against their will is because of human rights laws.
The DOJ mandated that. No one does long term psychiatric care anymore unless mandated by a court.

Actions like that also put a drain on the system such that people who actually needed psychiatric help weren't getting the treatment that they needed.

Now you know why the BoBo kid was only sentenced to 90 days at the crisis center in brookhaven.

Whitfield IS NOT a property to stow away undesirables. Not anymore.
You can't hold people against their will just because they are deemed an inconvenience to society.

So, look elsewhere for help on that matter.

( I could very well be wrong, but this is what I have been told by numerous individuals in the healthcare industry)

The inner city of Jackson, i.e., Terry Road, Ellis Avenue, Gallatin, Capitol, etc. is nothing but shanty huts housing indigent uneducated welfare recipients. Yes there are nice folks scattered amongst them but by and large, just people who share no values with the rest of working people in surrounding counties. Don't believe me, drive there and look for yourself.

The dregs of society now make up most of the inner city of Jackson. There are no "bones" as they say in real estate...physically or figuratively.

The majority of these folks prey on each other. The tamer of the bunch sit around and refuse to believe that their youth would/could actually kill each other. Hint, they do..every day.

To fix this problem, the sediment needs to be dissipated. Hinds County must be divided into Rankin, Madison, Warren, and Copiah counties. By diluting the dregs we can possibly save future generations from the school to jail/death path which has been created over the last 3 decades.

If those men were really body guards they would be looking out, into the crowd. Which means, as we all know, they are props to show this gentleman's appearance of importance.

Uh, no thanks from one of those counties. We don't want to import the problems they bring with them.

A one-way bus ticket to another state - not THAT'S a Special Session the governor could call with no complaints from working people.

"The Nation of Islam speaker"

That in itself speaks volumes.

Just as MLK had a cadre of 'whore spotters', these characters have a group of bowtied goons in sun glasses with buds in their ears looking around for prospective dates for their iconic leader.

Like 90% of men who pretend to be 'preachers', these guys are allowed by The Lord to spend time with ladies in order to reduce frustration and deal with the burdens of their day.

But, to be fair, it was Bill Clinton who took this practice to its highest level.

I know the idea of trying to get people to work together to solve a problem rather than for everyone to compete to have their idea be the only approach is something some of you don't understand.

I applaud Mayor Yarber for trying to get the support he will need to tackle crime and for being willing to entertain ideas from a variety of points of view.

The body guard comment is simply tacky and makes me suspect the mental stability of the commenter.

Anonymous commenter 8:05,

Lost in your broadside is the fact that the Nation of Islam is a hateful, racist, anti-Semetic, anti-Christian, homophobic, sexist, and UFO-believing gang of ex-cons that masquerades as a non-profit, uh, "community" organization.

Your own mental stability and it's associated capacity lies somewhere between "feeble" and "tetched", my friend.

Farrahkan himself also believes in diversity of opinion and embracing others and a welcoming approach to suggestions and input. As long as all that shit is in agreement with his own racist views and bizarre opinions.

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
