Purges & meltdowns

Bill Marcy is accusing the Central Mississippi Tea Party of purging him from membership:

Um, Bill, you did run as a candidate in the Democratic Primary. Just thought I'd point out that one little fact.  Then there is a meltdown that took place when the Clarion-Ledger's Sam Hall contacted McDaniel Tour Communications Director Noel Fritsch:

Despite claiming to have no ties with a firm that was using the campaign's name in phone calls seeking support for a legal challenge, the Chris McDaniel campaign has now reported they spent more than $11,000 with Liberty Action Center during the runoff election.

On their latest report to the Federal Election Commission, the McDaniel campaign reported three disbursements to LAC totaling $11,651. All three disbursements, which were made between June 12-24, were listed as being for facility rental and catering services. Nowhere on their website or accompanying social media accounts does LAC offer such services.

In late June and early July, Liberty Action Center made phone calls to voters in Mississippi asking if they would support a legal challenge to the Republican primary runoff for U.S. Senate....

Thomas Alvord, president of Liberty Action Center, told me on July 3 that the calls being made were not on behalf of the McDaniel campaign despite his callers identifying themselves as campaign workers. Alvord also said his organization was not under contract with and had not been asked by the McDaniel campaign to make the calls. He later told me that the campaign contracted with him in the beginning stages of the campaign well before the primary to do lead generation calls to help identify likely McDaniel supporters.

Noel Fritsch, communications director for the McDaniel campaign, told me at that time that the campaign had never contracted with LAC for any work. When asked about the FEC report today, he initially said the filings must have been a clerical error, referring to the disbursements being used for "facility rental/catering services."

When pressed about what services Liberty Action Center provided, a combative Fritsch said, "We worked with them on email. There's you a quote."

That was the warm-up.   Now for the performance:

Despite having previously denying the campaign had paid Liberty Action Center to make the calls after the runoff, Fritsch refused to answer questions today about it. "I don't accept the premise of your question," he said when asked again today.

Fritsch then said he didn't believe any calls had been made in late June and early July. When I told him that Alvord had admitted to making the calls and that on July 3 I posted a recording of a caller claiming to be with the McDaniel campaign and explaining why they were calling, Fritsch said angrily, "That would require me trusting anything you write."

Fritsch then said, "Off the record, when did you stop beating your wife?"

When I asked him what the hell he was talking about, he repeated the refrain, "I don't accept the premise of your questions about those calls." (For the record, I've never beaten my wife. She could probably take me, anyway.)

Nothing like seeing a communications director who is overwhelmed and undertalented. Keep reading.

During the interview, Fritsch asked if I had written about certain campaign staffers for U.S. Sen. Thad Cochran — specifically Amanda Shook — and then asked if I went to the court hearing for True the Vote. When I responded that we sent political reporter Jimmie E. Gates to the court hearing, Fritsch responded, "Call me when you get serious."

Later during the interview, in response to follow-up questions on a separate topic, Fritsch yelled something angrily that I couldn't understand and then hung up. Column

No shocker. Mr. Fritsch is universally despised... by his own team. Arrogant and cocky. A know-it-all who has never done anything. Anyone who disagrees is the enemy and is not on the team. Numerous members of the McDaniel camp voiced their disgust and strong dislike of Mr. Fritsch over the last few months. Reporters constantly joke he had seen too many episodes of House of Cards. Most reporters, local and national, said they believed little of what he said. That is not including all of the times he has bungled responses and made things worse when he could have made them better. I've yet to see a communications director privately lampooned by the media as much as this guy and its not because of his politics.

My favorite anecodate took place at CPAC this year. He went around bragging that after "we take over the state", meaning Chris McDaniel won the Senate race, "We are going to run Tate Reeves out of office next year". In his mind, everyone in Mississippi is a country bumpkin and he is smarter than all of us combined. He also planned on staying in Mississippi so he could grab a bunch of consulting gigs in legislative and statewide elections.

Oh, and before anyone gets carried away saying I'm being one-sided in my criticism,  Cochran communications director Jordan Russell has had moments of punkishness himself with little adult supervision.

why is true the vote requesting Social Security numbers of voters? are they going to use them to take out credit cards to support their lawsuits?

Anonymous said...

They withdrew that from their motion, but I agree; that already let you know something wasn't right.

Kingfish said...

From what I saw yesterday, I think it was just sloppiness and incompetence, not ill intent that caused them to ask for the numbers. I don't think from watching Catherine Engelbrecht on the stand for nearly two hours that was the reason.

By the way, here is the press release:

True the Vote will be providing the Court with dozens of full detailed affidavit reports, containing stunning evidence of election subversion, including:

Destruction of voters’ absentee ballot applications and mandatory envelopes;
Illegal alteration of poll books;
Cross-over and double voting;
Absentee ballots marked “Accepted” but unopened.

Still waiting for these affidavits.

I can't believe how many people of reasonable intelligence have smeared their reputations over this.

When passion goes wrong. These cases really are starting to make me sad.

If the Tea Party hates the establishment GOP so much, what's wrong with running as a democrat? The first two weeks of the tea party movement were great, then it was all down hill. In the end, we are talking about a few hundred quacks that are disillusioned that they number in the millions.

Regarding Marcy....seems like its ok to vote in the GOP primary while denouncing the entire party and the refusing to back the GOP nominee, but if you dare question a Tea Party candidate you are excommunicated. Sounds fair enough. Is it a requirement to worship Chris McDaniel to claim affiliation with the Tea Party?

So what if Marcy ran as a Democrat in a primary, the Tea party is not some wholly owned subsidiary of the MS Republican Party! #clulessinMississippiasusual

KF: Even if TTV comes up with the affidavits noted in their press release concerning cross-over votes and affidavit ballots not being opened etc., would such evidence of misfeasance or fraud be covered by the Federal National Registration Voter Act, or be relevant to it? Aren't those just state court actions of the kind McD says he will file next week? Not sure what the Federal registration law covers, but I thought it was just registration using a Federal registration form and the like.

Anonymous said...

It is my understanding that the state Tea Party chapters simply limited this meeting in Vicksburg to their actual elected "delegates" and this is why Marcy is not on the list to attend. It has nothing to do with him having run in a Democratic primary.

Anonymous said...

Back when they started and had good ideas (~2010) the Tea Party prided itself on its grass-roots structure with no organizational pyramid.

So how did someone get the power to deny someone entrance to the convention? It sounds like the way Democrats treat pro-lifers (if there are any left in that party).

Bill Dees said...

KF, since they've already had a hearing in Court, how are they gonna get affidavits into evidence? Wouldn't those witnesses have to have testified live - so they'd be subject to cross examination?

John Pittman Hey said...

1:07, the comments you refer me to contain no information that rebuts the complaint I linked to that clearly shows TTV did not ask for SSNs, but on the contrary, acknowledged they should be redacted.

So again: who started the false rumor that TTV asked for SSNs?

The "general consensus" is that the TEA party is a 'faction' of the Republican Party. Keep in mind the umbrella term 'Republican' doesn't necessarily mean conservative. Democrat doesn't mean Liberal.
Unbeknownst to most kool-aid drinkers, there are in fact 'liberal Republicans' and 'conservative Democrats'.

Keeping with that 'theory', one would think that the TEA Party would diversify their political activism by engaging both parties, however, that doesn't seem to be the case. Why is that?

Once aforementioned 'conservative Democratic' candidates are on a ballot for a federal election, more often than not, the DNC changes the beat of the candidates narrative for him/her if they expect to be backed by the national party.
*Childres has recently mentioned 'improving' the PPACA- Affordable Care Act- a.k.a. Obamacare

Although the TEA party has had troubles in gaining elections here and there, they have been quite successful in driving the Republican narrative for quite some time especially regarding social issues and especially 'healthcare reform' on a national scale because the Republican Party on a NATIONAL LEVEL will represent their interests to a certain extent. The Democratic party wouldn't dream of it.

In fact, the most liberal democrats have joked of starting a 'coffee party' although it will not likely ever take form.

That's my understanding of the matter.

KF, in some ways it seems worse if asking for SS numbers was just " sloppiness".

Who doesn't know in this day and time that SS numbers have value to criminals?

I would suggest that is so beyond " sloppy" as to make those seeking such too clueless to get in out of the rain much less hold positions of responsibility!

1:59- Dem Senator from PA is anti-abortion, and spoke at the last national convention. they're rare, but still there . . .

Anonymous said...

Yeah- just give them your SSN and birthdate. Nothing to see here, folks..

Anonymous said...

So, uh, JPH: how can you promise me someone is dead by their birthday?

I recently had a patient that told me when he was born, Teddy Roosevelt was president. He was extremely opinionated, and quite honestly, he seems smarter than the majority of people it seems that vote. Very opinionated on govt. and what they were doing to Medicare, etc. that affected him. And I absolutely agreed with what he said.

How can you prove to me you know that guy's dead because he was born in the early 1900's? Because he is not. Furthermore, how can you prove to me with a birthdate in 1978 is not dead? There are plenty of people born in what could be assumed a time period where they should still be alive that are, in fact, dead.

The best way of knowing this is with a certificate of death and having the voting rolls purged frequently, or before elections. And again, that's where Chrissie Poo could go back to the State Senate and actually do something meaningful.

One could also do this by using Voter ID and making sure the name, address, birthdate match up.

JPH, many readers in the JJ echo chamber struggle with comprehension.

"1:59- Dem Senator from PA is anti-abortion, and spoke at the last national convention. they're rare, but still there . . . "

And his late father, the former PA governor, was banned from speaking at a prior Dem national convention when he said he wanted to address abortion (nb: he was against it in most cases).

This 'thing' will never end, or not any time soon. If you take the past five weeks of posts on this blog, put them all in a bag and shake them up and pour them out on a catfish-gutting-table, you will have a huge sludge of impacted, died in the wool, old time politics, entrenched republicans who are scared shitless that 'The Tea Party' (which isn't a party to begin with) is going to lessen their grip on conservatism in this country.

There is and WILL BE no end to the yackety Barbour youngsters who see their political hopes being dashed. Then there's the paunch-gut old timers who see their grip slippin' away. They've become irrelevant, useless, unimportant.

And therein lies their angst. A mind is a turble thang to waist. And relevance is a terrible thang to see slip-slidin' away. But, like typewriters and tie-tacs, everything vanishes when its uselessness is realized.

"The plaintiffs asked for an injunction allowing them to review the voter rolls "without any redaction (apart from Social Security numbers). "

This is from that original complaint posted here July 9.

Looks like he was right insofar as TTV never asked for SS numbers.

Actually, for the past five weeks most Repubs have been dying to get started on a campaign to defeat Childers and hopefully remove Harry Reid as majority leader and all his appointees as Senate committee chairs. It's the circus perpetuated by the other side that has prevented us from focusing on this.

BTW, declaring victory in a war after losing every single battle is not a sign of a sound mind. Let us know when the first runoff vote actually gets disqualified.

Hey ESL@ July 25, 2014 at 6:47 PM

You might want to read KF's comments again without the idiotic assumptions that stand between the text of his comment and your lack of critical thinking. It probably won't do you much good to read it 25 times, as your shallowness is apparent. But give it a shot anyway, and keep in mind who is courteous enough to allow bagger nutjobs like you a place online here to post (with anonymity) your ludicrous remarks borne of ignorance.

Personally, I'd ban your IP address and leave your stupid ass at Ellisville-online.retard to look at porn and drool on your keyboard without spouting your screech here on JJ. But KF is nicer than I am to you cousin-humpers from Jones County. Take a hint and have some manners, doofus.

@12:39 someone needs to get that screenplay written asap. It could be big. I see Jon Heder reprising his Napoleon Dynamite character as Chris McDaniel.

If posters here have been concentrating on defeating Childers and unseating Reid, I'd like to be referred to ten or twelve of those posts. Just one?

The posts put here over the past five weeks have been at least as irrelevant to those goals as have the comments from John McCain.

Just as soon as they get back from the Neshoba County Fair.

"Nothing, NOTHING, has been stopping you from getting started."

I call BS on this one too. Since the losing candidate has sued his party the party has had to divert resources to defending a lawsuit. Resources that should be being put to use mounting a campaign against a democrat.

Anonymous said...

There's nothing like a sore loser hanging around, whining, bitching, and suing everybody in his own political party.

If anyone needs to be purged, it's McDaniel and his kind who don't know how to pick themselves up after a stumble and get back to supporting the team. If he doesn't want to be "a part of the team", to hell with him and those too selfish to consider the greater good beyond their personal opinions and preferences.

Anyone who carries this losing attitude into the fall is toxic to have around, anyways, and should be disassociated and then ignored.

I've heard all of the whining I can stand out of anyone over the age of five. You made your point. You disagree with some of the tactics that MIGHT have affected the final voting totals in the run-off, although not likely the outcome of the contest. Either move on with us or take a hike, because you certainly aren't helping us Republicans win a critical election by trying to tear down the party.

Anonymous said...

John Pittman Hey said...

McDaniel hasn't sued his party.

JP: True the Vote sued the Republican Party and they are on the same crazy wave length with your buddy McD. One and and the same kind of right wing nut jobs.

John Pittman Hey said...

10:50 Funny you should claim McD is "my buddy" seeing how I didn't vote for him, won't vote for him, and have nothing to do with him.

I was simply correcting a mis-statement that McD has sued the GOP.

It seems we can't even get our facts straight without calling each other names.

No wonder the country is in such a bad shape.

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
