There wasn't supposed to be a kaboom.

Indeed. They have absolutely no comprehension of the consequences that will follow if they're successful in what they're trying to pull off. Obama is not on the ballot -- Mississippi's credibility is. We're the only state in the nation with people stupid enough to consider voting out our political influence and giving up a chance to add control of the Senate while maintaining control of the House. Unreal.

Good One!! Palin, McDaniel, and others, have convinced their followers they have all the answers. Lots of people aren't happy with government and the governing, but the TP hasn't offered solid alternatives or solutions.

YAWN ... Sssnnnnnooooorrrreeeee ... ZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

You can't fix stupid.

Thad.

I miss Cliff Finch.

Cochran was a Democrat. Its a historical fact. Travis Childers though currently a Democrat will be an Independent. McDaniel though a Republican will be an Independent. Most Mississippians are currently Independents.1320

A vote for McDaniel will be a vote for Childers and Obama in November.......to be quite honest, I can't support him based on his divisiveness in this election. The TP doesn't need all of us to win in November anyway!! They're invincible.

7:36 I would like to agree with you, but when you have a choice between Obamanites and an alternative, where and when is your "Independent" vote or support going to count??

I am a successful businessman--typically I wud be(and HAVE been)a Thad voter--HOWEVER, the establishment has done no more for middle MS than Bennie for the Delta--we're still blind, deaf, dumb, and poor with no REAL prospects on the horizon---throw ALL the bums out and start over!!!

Avery Wiseman said...

I agree with @8:44 about the need to throw all the bums out and start over, but I've been around long enough that I want to see other states go first. As with virtually every other tea party position, I find myself generally in agreement on the principle, but shaking my head at their execution.

If McDaniel wins today, we should redesign our license plates with the slogan, "Mississippi: We're too idealistic for our own good" or "Mississippi: We prefer our faces without noses."

Cochran was a Democrat. Its a historical fact.

Also historical fact that William Winter was a segregationist.

Anonymous said...

One can only hope that after today, for a while at least, we won't have to listen to that raving idiot Adam calling into the various radio programs.

Anonymous said...

Bullies and name calling do not sway me. Cartoons don't either.

I will always vote my convictions, whether its this election or the next 20 years of elections.

I do not agree with what is happening in DC.

I will not vote for Cochran to return to DC and continue doing the same thing.

Win or loose, I'll be able to look myself in the face and know that I simply did not support all the crap that's happening.

Anonymous said...

I don't know whether to laugh or cry about the " Cochran was a Democrat" and " Winter" was a segregationist" remarks.

The GOP was all but nonexistent in MS until 1978. Those who weren't segregationist other that in secret found crosses burned on their lawns!

And, anyone who imagines replacing bums with worst bums is a solution might need, if they have been " a successful" business man is either a " one trick pony" or should worry about Alzheimer's!

I can't believe the stupidity!

Cochran's History or No History...I'll take my chances

8:44 -- your success must not be tied to the written word or appropriate articulation of English. WUD??? Success comes from educating yourself on the BIGGER picture -- you'll lose the Senate for the Republicans by attaching yourself to a candidate who alienates voters in November. Mr. Wiseman stated it best at 9:03. I was also attracted to the ideals of the TP but you lost me with the implementation. Your choice of leaders was poor, and NEVER do I see a post by TP members, that is not angry, vitriolic, and aggressive. Kind of hard to be a party of 3 or 4 (Cruz, Paul, Lee -- none of whom have backed McDaniel) and McDaniel.....and get things accomplished in DC with 96 other Senators.

"We're the only state in the nation with people stupid enough to consider voting out our political influence.."

Yeah, I'd vote against Bennie too. Every time.

I love when someone says, "the guys been there to long." Once your guy stays long enough to have any influence, a new group will come in and say "HEY, YOUR GUY HAS BEEN THERE TO LONG!!!" "Never underestimate the ignorance of the American voter." -Me

So William Winter was a segregationist and campaigned for Governor as a segregationist to avoid having a cross burnt on his lawn.

Interesting.

When annual inflation gets up to 6-8% the Republican Party will have to listen to the Tea Party lectures in their conference again. New Tea Party challengers will be the norm. If Mississippi elects McDaniel, he will have the same leadership position in the US Senate as Thad since he will be in the vanguard. Macro-economics and changing Fed policy will put the Tea Party in power.

Anonymous said...

The TEA party is absolutely invincible. Just ask Senators Mourdock, Akin, O' Donnell, Akin et al.

Anonymous said...

@1:03 I don't think you understand how the senate works. This isn't the Supreme Court where the 'new guy" has as much stroke as the old guy. A rookie senator is just that, a rookie. Bottom of the barrel. And if we, (GOP), don't take back power in the senate he will be the rookie in the minority. And where did you get that crap about "changing FED policy." Obviously you don't understand how the FED works or who sets policy. You just proved the commenter above point, "Never underestimate the ignorance of the American voter."

1:25, don['t be a jackass.

Seniority my butt. Whoever raises the most money for their party---that's how committees and chairs are decided. Where have you been for the last 2 years? Dang, the actual price/cost list for both parties has been on the internet for a while. The old ones, who get a cut of each pie, and shake hands in the dark making deals---yea, those are the ones who seem to scream--seniority and don't rock my money boat.

But, oh, Thad's "seniority" can get us MORE debt, MORE pork, MORE voting in line with Harry Reid, MORE weak ass whiney excuses, and MORE appointments when he suddenly gets 'ill' and can't continue the job.

Kim Wade said...

So the Tea Party offers no solutions you say.
Well one thing we'll do is sign our name to anything we post....
You balless RINOS don't have balls to post your name. Just another ease why the Tea Party came in to existence.

Anonymous said...

Kim,

There is no "Tea" party. The tea party movement was a grass roots effort to show just how out of touch "conservatives" have become with what it means to be conservative. When Republicans became scared of being called an obstructionist or the party of "No" and decided that populism gets them elected, they simply became just another progressive politician.

The tea party movement was meant to unseat those without the ideology that could accurately be labeled as conservative. Instead, the media generated a narrative that idiots like you listened to and it became more about a political party than about the politics that were the basis for the movement.

Anonymous said...

So what happens to seniority when Thad retires during his term?

Anonymous said...

if you need a pretty illustrative sample of the typical, grass roots tea party philosophy, go over to a board called "Elite Dawgs". seriously, just google it...

Anonymous said...

William Winter is a joke

Anonymous said...

Hey 5:23, don't insult Coach34 and the EliteDawgs crew that way.

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
