Barbour has proven it don't matter when a politico is street-walking the red light district. A trick is a trick is a trick.

All politics are local.

Oh, God help me! When will it end!? What next, janitors writing letters?!

Headline 4: Ronnie Lott's last name is Lott, like Trent Lott, so you should vote for him.

Speakin' of Barbour and 'tricks', front page Clarion this morning sez 'Blacks are the Key' to this election.

Thanks to Thad prostituting himself (there is no other word for it), it's his pandering to black democrats that the paper feels will or won't swing it for him.

This speaks volumes about Cochran. All he needs now is a Bennie Thompson commercial claiming Thad has kept the entitlement train runnin' through the Delta for forty years. Look for it at a TV station near you soon.

I have defended Governor Barbour in the past until this moment. It sickens me that he has interfered in this election and seems to be encouraging the "Scott Sisters" crowd to deny and derail the will of the true conservative party on June 24th. Haley, you disgust me.

It really is worse than that MV. Every ding dang GOP politician in Mississippi is lined up right behind Cochran. They are attached completely to his campaign at the hip.

Think about it. Cochran's puppeteers are out in the open for all of Mississippi to see seeking and encouraging Democrat votes in a Republican election. All in order to shove down the throats of unwilling Republicans their demands for total power and complete unquestioning control.

It is their way or no way at all. Obama opened the border spigot full-on to force an immigration crisis and now the GOP power brokers use the exact same tactic to maintain their stranglehold over party matters. It is all right there out in the open. There is no hiding or denying it. They've just undone in a few weeks 25-30 years of Republican party building.

There is no longer any reason at all to be loyal to the Mississippi Republican Party or in the elections next year to the politicians who are jackbooting now behind Cochran as the puppeteers veer his campaign hard to the left. None. Every McDaniel voter, win or lose, is now a free agent and every Cochran voter is stuck in the killing field dealing with the aftermath of their party burning.

Childers is not that liberal. Way more Blue Dog than Yellow. He's not a hardcore leftist ideologue. Far from it. If the Democrats get him a top shelf campaign management team and enough money it won't be hard at all to move him in the eyes of voters to more conservative positions -- especially on economic matters -- and pick off votes. After this self-neutering Cochran is now the easier mark for Childers to defeat, not McDaniel.

8:30 -- Explain clearly why it is OK to receive Tea Party help from outside, and millions of dollars from the groups you all have, and not allow voters in the state to vote for the candidate they feel best represents their position on the issues.

Jenny Beth Martin has been steering this election
from OUTSIDE Mississippi for the past 2-3 months. Just go to her website for the National Tea Party and you'll hear her pandering to EVERYONE OUTSIDE our state to come in, volunteer, send money (I guess we're just too stupid to do this ourselves and everyone from FL, OH, NJ, TX, etc. has to come in and do it for us).

You Tea Party people tend to believe you ARE the voice of the Republican party in MS, and nationally you garner, per Gallup Polling less than 22% support nationally.

Well, I"m afraid you forgot that there are moderate people who will work across party lines.

Anonymous said...

My sentiments,exactly@ 8:20. Prostituting themselves. I am a lifelong republican who no longer feels the need to capitalize the dirty word. They will find out what I think next election. Vote every last one of them out. Anyone who thinks they all are sold out for Thad to the point that they want to whore themselves out is a fool. Haley and his cohorts own them all and the ones that don't agree understand they can't buck the big man.

bill said...

I know I'm hopelessly old school about this, but Republicans need to vote in the Republican primary and Democrats need to vote in the Democrat primary. I'm not sure the damage to our party isn't already done. If Cochran wins on the backs of the Democrats it will be next to impossible for many Republicans to support him in the general election. The only way we have a chance to keep this seat in the Republican caucus is to elect Chris McDaniel on Tuesday and elect him big. Republicans need to send a strong message to the people who would subvert our primary process - no you can't! Bill Billingsley

Haley/Thad encouraging Democrats to elect Thad in the Republican primary is truly a new low. A GOP primary that will be decided by democrats!?! Disgusting! The final nail in the coffin for the MSGOP. Pathetic and desperate actions of the barbour establishment.

Sincerely,
A Recovering Republican

7:57.... Childers had a big ole portrait of FDR in his congressional office. He IS a liberal.

Anyone leaning on the caps button and using that many exclamation points shouldn't be in positions of power and should not be trusted.

Bill -- ever thought, maybe we don't WANT Chris McDaniel and he doesn't represent what we want as a Republican?

You speak as if you represent everyone in the Republican Party, and if we don't agree with you, we must be Democrats.

Sad -- but it didn't have to come to this. Having all the outside influence, ratcheted this up to a level where we're destroying ourselves inside the MS Republican party, and the state of Mississippi because others have decided to make this "THEIR" battleground.

Might want to take a hard look at how your side has utilized people from outside the state of Mississippi to win this, and then assess why you're getting such pushback.

I'm sure you'll reason it away that "everyone" has been doing it, but look closely at when it began, and where it began for the June 3rd primary.

When Charlie Ross ran for Congress, Mounger and Powell told him not to run because they were going to back Harper. Needless to say Charlie lost. They said he was going to lose if they didn't back him.

That is the state of politics in Mississippi. A cartel of donors. Don't get their $$$, good luck running for office. Is that what you really want?

The outside money broke up the logjam a little bit. Thats not exactly a bad thing.

8:30, 9:47, Bill & 10:20. I'd be willing to wager that all of you know Republicans supporting Thad who are sickened to their stomachs by the turn of events. Because I sure do.

Anonymous said...

King, had a close Mounger ally tell me before Harper even filed to run to back him because he was going to be the winner. It was all matter of fact.

Anonymous said...

KF -- I respect your opinion greatly, and value the site you provide. My only rebuttal would be that we didn't just blow up the logjam on this one, but blew the dam up.

Do we need to change how we do business in DC? Yes!

Is McDaniel the man?? --I think many of us have reservations about him, and maybe seeing the influence on both sides, has been a good thing.

It has awakened MS voters, and drawn back the curtain on the process of primaries, general elections, power in DC, and power of groups inside and outside the state.

I"ve always said -- maybe we needed change, but the candidate the Tea Party pushed and offered was not the man to do it.

Is Senator Cochran probably ready to retire -- yes, but his replacement (McDaniel) has no experience, no legislative accomplishments, and his rhetoric is changing now, and has no basis in reality.

We've really been offered no choice in MS, and that's probably the saddest part of this discussion.

Anonymous said...

... but it didn't have to come to this.

It didn't but as long as people like you look the other way while GOP "leaders" jerk the process to handpick winners and losers it only gets worse.

Voters are free to listen to whatever damn influences and voices they want. Haley Barbour, Mounger, Powell, et al don't get to decide who will and will not have influence. Wake up, it is 2014. Opinions about our state, this nation and world don't start and stop at the state line. That's Jim Crow mentality and it is a loser. This bunk about "the outside influence" is nothing more than a steaming pile of dog shit.

Anonymous said...

Plleeeaaaassssseeeeee study some history before ignorantly saying a portrait of FDR makes someone a liberal. Sheesh.

Anonymous said...

... but the candidate the Tea Party pushed and offered was not the man to do it.

Laughable. There wasn't a Tea Party primary or convention in advance of the GOP primary that pre-selected one candidate to run against Cochran.

You weren't offered more credible candidates because the GOP insiders made the decision for you in advance.

Kingfish said...

Yup.

So its ok if our leaders our picked for us if they are picked for us by an instate _____ instead of an out of state _______. Got it.

Haley controlled many outcomes because he controlled the fundraising for the entire party.

Anonymous said...

You can thank Haley and his sidekicks for that. They thought they were smart enough to dodge an election and put their hand picked man in Thad's seat. Had they played fair you might have had a choice more to your liking. That alone is enough to make me vote for McDaniel-the chance to let Haley and the boys see that they don't control everything.

Anonymous said...

Have to disagree wholeheartedly with you Bill. As a lifelong Republican who has never cast a vote for a Democrat in a statewide election, I am sickened by the antics of some McDaniel supporters, especially on social media. I have seen calls to "die you old man die" and similar on multiple occasions. I will never vote for McDaniel.

Anonymous said...

Latest and final Chism strategies just posted 52 -44 McDaniel in the lead

Anonymous said...

Are they REALLY McDaniel supporters? I posted urging respect toward Senator Cochran on the Thad Facebook page, stating McDaniel would be horrified by their behavior and questioning if they were really his supporters. My comments were deleted along with others who posted respectfully and were then deleted and blocked. Thad sucks and f $&@ Thad, etc remained there for hours and may be there still. I thanked Senators Cochran and McCain for their military service and I was blocked, but F$&@ Thad wasn't? Really? Just like the phone call I got pretending to poll for McDaniel and then ridiculing me when I said I was voting for him. A lot of that going around...look at who benefits. It isn't McDaniel.

Anonymous said...

Hearing significant bump in absentees in counties that Cochran. As has been reported earlier, several experienced pros were brought in to run GOTV. I know Hayes Dent, for example is running efforts in the Delta.

Anonymous said...

It all comes down to the Democratic vote. Otherwise, McDaniel wins. If enough Democrats vote, which with money being handed out, the preachers pushing Thad, transporting voters, high level strategists focused solely on accomplishing just that, it could easily happen. I just hope it is worth it to the Republican Party come the next election and the next. i

If Fordice was alive he would have whupped Haley's fat ass for all this.

2:02 is spot on. If 20,000 Democrats or more, Thad wins. I was driving through a predominantly African American neighborhood in Madison today near the Rosa Scott School (Madison Central's 9th Grade campus) Numerous Thad signs including one in the yard of what I believe to be a parsonage. Oh to be a fly on the wall in a few Churches on Sunday.

KF, Harper only won in 2008 because Landrum lost by covering up his lie. Landrum had that race bought until Rounsaville did what Harper was afraid to do and fell on the grenade by pointing out Landrum basically never voted. Landrum lied and said he did, then got caught in the lie by the woman who's signature Landrum claimed as his, and the voters went to the next choice, Harper. Harper would not be in Congress today if Landrum had enough sense to just fess up and move on. We got lucky dodging that bullet. Not the Gregg is much better.

Bill -

I believe you are a good man and you are sincere when you say that you are "old school" and you believe "democrats should vote in the Democratic primary."

Does that not confirm that McDaniel is whatever he needs to be to get elected? Before he was running for office, he voted in the Democratic primary in 2003. He is a trial lawyer.

He started voting in the Republican primary when he ran for State Senate. The first time he ever voted in a Republican primary was the day his name was on the ballot.

Chris is a Democrat at heart. Unless it benefits him to run as a Republican and jump on the Tea Party wagon.

Anonymous said...

Have no fear McDaniel supporters, the guy from the "young republicans" is robocalling again this afternoon, so y'all are in good hands.

Are You Kidding Me? said...

Hayes Dent is going to manage the Delta vote? Give me a break! Hayes Dent is totally irrelevant once he steps outside the old building in Downtown Jackson that houses the State Republican Party Headquarters.

Whose votes will he sway? Is he going to make appearances at black churches with his wing tips, Ole Miss blazer and shiney white face? Is he going to pretend to be a farm boy who struggled to make a living and once drove a Farmall?

Hayes Dent could not get a standing ovation at the DOT headquarters in Yazoo City if he gave away chicken dinners, much less sway the Delta vote. He and Haley might as well stay in their speedos on the pontoon in Wolf Lake, sipping Coors Light.

Anonymous said...

Ask Lynn Fitch if Hayes Dent is irrelevant. He took a candidate picked by most to finish third in a three horse race and won. His role is not to sway the Delta vote, it is to get it out. My understanding is that Yazoo, Leflore and Washington are up with absentee ballots, so someone knows what they are doing.

Who? said...

So, now we have it that Hayes Dent got Lynn Fitch into office? OK. Sure he did.

Hayes Dent is going to 'get out the vote' in the Delta? Sure he is.

Who, outside of Yazoo City and Republican HQ ever heard of Hayes Dent? Please name all seven of them, not counting his relatives and the National Guard Adjutant.

Anonymous said...

Just another example of Hayes Dent supporting the least conservative candidate in an election, as he did in the Treasurer's race.

Anonymous said...

Well, when Haley and the boys draw national attention with their efforts to win this by the begging and buying of democratic votes, it proves that they can't win any other way or they wouldn't risk the backlash. I hope they have fun if their plan works and Childers campaign produces vote buying and appeals inside the black churches, whatever other shenanigans they are up to on video and kill the GOP in November. The dems will use it, I feel certain., in addiction to the dirt already out there.

Anonymous said...

That is pretty racist. Makes the assumption that all black folks are alike. I heard one of the people that came forward was a black teacher and that they somehow got a list of them. Not sure if that is the case, but obviously someone was offended by it.

Anonymous said...

What I find racist is that the Tea Party will be suspect of any black person that votes in the primary. Talk about classifying people based on their skin color.....what are they going to do, challenge every black vote?

Anonymous said...

1:46 -- well, I HEARD that the Tea Party, ITSELF, is behind the robocall. In their camp, the end justifies the means.......think Rose Cochran and the 3 stooges at the Hinds County Courthouse.

Anonymous said...

1:46..."I heard something somewhere that might not be true and it's possible that someone would be offended by it." WHAT?

Hayes Dent is still pissed that he didn't get the Gallo Gig. With all of the Barbour empire supporting young Dent for the past twenty five years you'd think he would at least have a convenience store management job by now.

Anonymous said...

Dent isn't like by most people, black or white, in the Delta and even in his hometown. He is a phony who stays around powerful people only because he is a nationally leading expert in the art of brown nosing. His involvement will so more harm than good.

Anonymous said...

Hayes is Superman. At least that is what he keeps telling me. Does Tony Geiger still work for Hayes? Now there is a whack job.

Anonymous said...

Charlie Ross was and still is a jerk, but big ole Haley backed him.

Anonymous said...

Charlie and BP had a falling out over the House #59 race.
BP wound up backing Clayton Smith, Charlie won the house seat and the next year won a Senate seat when Mike Gun resigned.
Charlie had his own people, they were not part of Powel and Harkins crew.
Powell first wins by backing Phil over Charlie in the Lt. Gov race, then beating him again with the fluke Harper win.

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
