The Rankin County Sheriff's Office issued the following press release:
Representatives from Shyne Automotive would prepare “Application for Title” paperwork and present that paperwork to any of the three Rankin County Tag Offices. Shyne Automotive would then send the tags to either individuals or wholesale companies in other states that had sent Shyne the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) that was entered on the application for title. Investigators from the Sheriff’s Office worked with members of the Federal Bureau of Investigations, National Insurance Crime Bureau, and the Mississippi State Tax Commission to determine who was involved in the scheme and to what states were affected. Investigators received a break in the case when an employee from the Tax Collector’s Office contacted investigators while Shyne representatives were attempting to make tag purchases on Thursday June 13. Investigators worked with the Richland and Flowood Police Departments to identify the individuals involved. They were identified as Adesina “Shyne” Olateru Olagbegi , owner of Shyne Automotive and his office manager, Shirley Anders. Both were booked into the Rankin County Jail on the charge of making “Fraudulent statements and representations” to the county by passing the application for title paperwork to the county employees as accurate and true.
Investigators have notified the US Postal Inspector and authorities in the states where the tags were known to have been sent. Mr. Olagbegi operates his business in Hinds County, but due to the lower cost of vehicle tags in Rankin County, he would make his purchases in Rankin County for newer model vehicles and Hinds County for some of the older model vehicles. Since the vehicles in questions are not in Rankin County, authorities have not been able to determine if any of the vehicles are stolen as originally suspected.

Glad they got them, shows that the tax collector's offices can actually do their jobs pretty well, even if Haley Barbour did veto legislation that tried to enforce Mississippi's mandatory vehicle insurance laws, claiming that the state did not have the manpower to enforce it at tag point-of-sale offices.
Rankin Tax Collector's office scores, thugs lose...
The car was on blocks in a Pearl trailer park.
What? There's crime and criminals in Rankin county?
7:00, according to WLBT, Shyne Automotive is located in Gordon St. in Jackson. So, to answer your question, this is Jackson criminals committing crime in Rankin County.
this thread has nothing to do with auto insurance or Haley Barbour. What a stretch! Sounds like good police work and great coordination to me. Shyne On!
And, they are in RANKIN County Jail!
Newsflash! You wind up in jail where your crime is committed, not where you stay or where your baby momma want to visit you.
But if they were in hinds jail they'd be out by now.
If in Madison, they'd be tryin' to figure out how many zeroes a million dollar bond has.
Good police work. Citizens on my street have out-of-state and/or out-of-county car tags. Previous sheriff avoided doing much on this tag thing. Law enforcement needs to look at the common place sometimes.
Thanks 9:39 am but I didn't mention residency
What I do notice, having been a victim of crime in Rankin and Madison but never in Hinds is that crime in those counties don't get noticed while every crime in Hinds is blown out of proportion.
The theft of my cell phone by in Rankin by a Rankin resident identified by the people he called from my phone was totally ignored by the police. They went to his door and said " hi". The person who stole my lawn equipment in Madison was never arrested though identified and though he robbed others in my neighborhood, he, too was never arrested and the crime didn't show up anywhere. The huge robbery last year of a home in Madison has yet to make a splash and the people haven't been caught.
You also might want to check the conviction rates in Mississippi courts.
It could be that the criminals in my situation were white and knew someone ...sorta like Karen Irby when she got in trouble in Rankin.
oh yes 7:00am, there are criminals in Rankin County..but not near as many as there are in Hinds County! At least in Rankin County they put them JAIL!!!!!
