FOOD FIGHT!!!

Yup. Food fight between.......... the Clarion-Ledger and the Jackson Free Press. A media war. Now we're talking.

Brian Eason took the paper to task for the write-in conspiracy theory, oops, I meant story. Read Mr. Eason's comments here. They are pretty funny as well as being accurate. You know her. She just could not let such reporting go unchallenged so she penned her own response on the JFP website in which she lists every slight made by Mr. Eason, real or imagined, against her or what she thinks is the practice of journalism. Never mind she has never worked at a newspaper before but that's besides the point. She even calls this website a "hate blog". Hmmm.... should I change the name to "Hate Jambalaya"? It does have a ring to it. Back to Mr. Eason. She says he has "contempt for many Jacksonians". Ah yes, she can't debate the merits of what he wrote, he has to hate the readers or have an evil purpose. Such is the thinking of an immature mind. Read her response here.

If you are bored and want more fun, check out Quentin and Ginger Whitwell's Twitter feeds. Feel free to paste them in the comments here.

The unfortunate thing about the JFP is that the continued scalding of Quentin to "stop by Monday and answer questions" appears to be a bully tactic by the paper to "feed" a story they sorely got wrong.

It is only a matter of time until everyone sees the JFP for what it is, out of control and nothing more than a bully pulpit.

A battle of the witless....

This can't accurately be called a "media war," because the JFP doesn't qualify as "media." "Tabloid," perhaps, or (in light of Ladd's Facebook stalking of Mrs. Whitwell) "paparazzi."

Every time Ladd opens her obnoxious trap, I cannot wrap my mind around the concept that anyone of any political philosophy, age, race, or gender would give her the time of day, much less pay her money to advertise in her shitty newsletter . . .

Why does it take the woman 3,567 words to say this:

I like to hear myself type.

I hate Tom Head.

I don't know this lady. I live in St. Louis, with kin in Jackson, well actually Ridgeland so can someone enlighten me. Does she usually post like 5 or 6 responses in a row, scattered all over the place? Talk to herself?

She seems to me to be mad. (As in crazy)

What do you expect from someone who would trash the public library system because they were to dim-witted to figure out how to pay a $5 dollar fine on 3 overdue books.

Anonymous said...

Very likely her stalking of a private citizen is a criminal matter. Probably a couple of criminal lawyers who would work this pro bono and smile the whole time.

Libertarian: There's absolutely no need to hate Head, he is completely harmless. As is Ladd, she's just much more annoying.

4:41 - yes she always posts like that. One has to wonder what all psych maladies she may or may not have been diagnosed with . . .

Anonymous said...

Serious question, Is the JFP self supporting, or does someone pony up the money to keep it going? If the latter is true, who is paying to keep the JFP in print?

Ladd & company have a tax debt, but after this city election cycle--it might be paid off. It was clever of her not to endorse and position her weekly as independent in the future City Hall coverage. She can eat fire and make it look like its easy.

Eason clearly exposed her 'journalistic game' as partisanship. His blog post shows he can do the 'new journalism' thing too, but he like Todd has to listen to her.

I couldn't post a comment to The Donna's vitrioliic hit job on Brian Eason, who is a promising young reporter(whom I suspect won't stay long at the CL). Her website wouldn't let me; maybe it's an I-Pad thing. I have never commented on her site, but her piece was so out of bounds I felt compelled to.

Mr. Eason's column today was hysterical, as have been many of his columns. No logical person believed that the "secret" write-in campaign was actually a real thing. The "secret" lasted till the author of the email hit send.

I don't know anybody who takes The Donna seriously. I'm sure anything I wrote to point by point take apart her arguments against Mr. Eason and his articles would have been a waste of time.

By the way, I hear the support for Mr. Eason since her hate mail against him was posted by T. D. has been overwhelming.

Racism, thy name is Donna said...

Did I read that correctly? Did Donna Ladd chastise Brian Eason for being snarky? I perused her facebook postings and found ample snark. For example:

May 29: When will folks ever learn? The louder you squawk about us doing a story, the more important we know it is to pursue it. We call it a clue.

May 23: Just saw this comment on one of THOSE threads freaking out about Lumumba: "This all goes back to my old saying "I haven"t seen this many mad white people since they cancelled Mama's Family." LOL.

May 21: Resisting the urge to ask all the white folks (mostly from outside Jackson) randomly showing up to bash Jackson in favor of Jonathan Lee if they would be on board with removing the Confederate symbol from the state flag? Haven't yet, though, but it would be fun.

The difference between Eason and Ladd is a sense of levity and a distinct lack of vitriol, both on Mr. Eason's part.

And Donna (yes, we know you read these comments)...honey, if you're going to attack someone for being "snarky", perhaps it's best not to have an easy-to-follow trail of such behavior on your own part.

9:37: Whatever you have to say to or about Ms. Ladd, don't do it on her site. Her usual modus operandi is, after someone destroys whatever silly, childish argument she is trying to make that day, to ban that person from her site and then post several childish, tantrum-like "last words."

Probably the funniest thing about the Eason CL article is all the commentors laughing at Donna, and she obviously can't ban them. I know from personal experience that that fact is eating her up. Life is a lot harder when you don't cinctantly get "home field advantage" and a giant ban stick. Which is why her site sucks so much, and the very few commentors there are all her lapdogs. And, of course, her girlfriend Todd. Funny!

Donna is a victim of abuse. Have you not read every article she has pennned? She left this state about 4000 times, came back 4000 times, and now asks us to follow her. This JFP is a hate rag. Donns is now being a bully by telling white advertisers Chokwe is the way by her silence.

Anonymous said...

Donna's trick is to make implications and then back off them by stating she never took a position on that. For example, while doing everything in her power to bash Lee, just as the run-off poles closed, she wrote this on her Facebook page: "I really that it's easy to say this because I don't have a dog in the runoff hunt, but the future does NOT depend on whichever candidate wins tonight." Right...she doesn't have a dog in this hunt. She's been nothing but objective!

She's doing the same thing with Whitwell by implying that he's part of a white, Republican conspiracy to usurp the election, then saying that she never made any statements about Whitwell at all, she's just asking questions. Eason is dead on that this is a non-story that Donna desperately wants us to follow.

The sad truth here is that we are doing exactly what she wants us to do, which is: make her relevant. She intends to be provocative, but in truth wields very little influence. Just like there are a handful of overt racists on this board, but the frequency and vitriol of their posts makes their actual numbers seem larger and more influential than they are. And I'm sure they think they are incredibly relevant. Just as Donna reads these comments, fumes on Facebook, and then basks at how important she is. After all, this election really is about what Donna thinks is best for Jackson, right? Except...80% of the voters voted against her candidate.

Meanwhile, quite as expected, Jeffie Good sucks up to Mumboola in a lengthy "Let's Be Friends And Work Together" epistle in today's Clarion. So, he makes kisses up to Donner and she backs off him. Now movin' on the da mayor.

Look for Chitlins on the menu soon. Good cultivatin' cultcha-club.

Time for an Ombudsman at the JFP.

Good Lord how long did she call for the same at the C-L.

Keep up the great enterprise reporting Kingfish.

It is obvious that Donna Ladd is one of "Jackson Jambahateblog"'s most loyal readers.

As a person who does not live in Jackson, but owns a business in Jackson, I followed the mayoral election process closely. I was not a Lumumba fan and was shocked and disappointed that he will be the next mayor of Jackson, barring any miracle. Love him or hate him, Lumumba is going to be the mayor the next four years.

Like him or not, Jeff Good has a vested interest in Jackson as a resident and business owner. Good has always been a strong supporter of the city of Jackson and like most of us who own businesses here, want to see Jackson move forward. He was a strong Lee supporter, but realizes that he can either try to work with Lumumba and his administration or fight him and remain frustrated for the next four years. The success or failure of Jackson during the next four years will depend on whether we all try to work together or fight a losing battle.

Alf, few question what you wrote about Good. It is Good's self-anointing as some sort of higher authority and speaker for the community that rankles many.

Look, girls! It's JEFF GOOD!!!! EEK! said...

There's an old joke in Los Angeles (no longer relevant since her passing): "What's the quickest way to get trampled in Hollywood? Stand between Dr. Joyce Brothers and a camera." I've always thought it applied to Jeff Good.

Be it TV, Radio, Print or internet, Jeff loves to be interviewed and photographed. Remember the "Celebrate Jackson" ad fiasco last November? Jeff "starred" in the awful rapping Granny ad and was interviewed by WAPT during the non-event on 11/14 at City Hall. He had his caricature posted on a billboard outside Highland Village for years, and forced his way on a TV ad HV used to run. When Melton was elected, he was there sticking his mug in the camera, and was just as prominent for Lee this go 'round.

I'm sure he justifies his camera lust as a means to promote his business, but other well-known, successful Jackson restaurateurs (Nick Apostle, Derek Emerson, even Malcolm White) do not fawn and primp for the media the way he does, nor do they inject themselves so conspicuously into local politics.

Donna Ladd is a clown, but Jeff is a grade A media whore. The likely reason he was so butt-kissy with Donna a week or so ago was because he sees her as yet another media outlet to feed his ego. It's also why he basically copypasta'd one of his facebook posts and submitted it as a letter to the CL.

Well said, Alfredeaux! There are a few people here who are going to bash anyone who supports Jackson or who works to make it a better place. It's a lot easier to sit on the sidelines and be smug and contemptuous than it is to stay on the field, roll up your sleeves, and try to make a difference.

And by the way...the first sign of an underdeveloped point of view is to attack your opponents with demeaning nicknames. Whenever people use that tactic--as is often the case here--it undermines the credibility of anything else they say. It also undermines the general civility of the dialogue.

And yet June 3, 2013 at 10:33 AM is still here reading and commenting.

I don't know Jeff Good, but his ass-kissing of Ladd (and his decision to advertise in her "newspaper") is part of the problem. She rightly should be ignored, especially including advertising dollars. The public ass-kissing is absolutely inexplicable.

Anonymous said...

This is silly.

Why does anyone care what Ms. Ladd does or doesn't think? Or what those who take issue with her think or don't think?

Don't y'all think for yourselves or do you have selected folks you let think for you and you just choose up sides?

Or is it that you need to reinforce your beliefs by finding those who make the most inane comments rather than seek the best arguments?

Funny how they skewered Lee over some business disputes while the IRS has to file liens to get them to pay their taxes. Pot, meet kettle.

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
