In the midst of destruction appeared a moment of grace. The North Valley Animal Disaster Group posted on Facebook:
Three days ago, a truck with several dogs inside was reported to North Valley Animal Disaster Group in an area where fire was burning in northern Butte County, California. Very quickly, the #ParkFire cut off all ground contact with the region, and the dogs were presumed lost. Fortunately, NVADG volunteer Trevor is also a Helicopter Rescue Technician with Butte County Sheriff's Search & Rescue. With support from Butte County Sheriff Kory Honea, Trevor was transported to the location and the truck located. A suitable landing site was determined to be over a mile away. Trevor hiked to the truck, released the happy canines, and played pied piper on the way back to the helicopter for the trip to medical care and the emergency animal shelter. A great example of interagency support and coordination, and a remarkable rescue. Great job!
