Idiot of the Day

An attorney - yes, an attorney, got caught trying to smuggle drugs and other contraband into the Raymond Detention Center.  Hinds County Sheriff Tyree Jones issued the following statement and pictures yesterday.

MS Attorney Daniel Sidney Dale was arrested today and charged with 2 counts of conspiracy, and 3 counts of introduction of contraband to a correctional facility. Attorney Dale, allegedly posing as legal counsel for some Hinds County detainees, was allegedly smuggling cell phones and other contraband during visitations. During a visitation this afternoon he was found to be in possession of several items of contraband and cell phones in an attempt to pass them to a detainee. He was detained, questioned and later charged. Attorney Dale, in a trusted position responsible for the constitutional rights of arrested suspects, jeopardized the safety and integrity of the Hinds County Detention Facilities and the public.
This investigation is ongoing and more charges and/or arrests are possible.

That mugshot. Sheesh! There's a novel of commentary just in the photograph alone!

whats that on his right lapel? sweat or lunch.?

That suit looks like an Armani wool crepe, from the mid-'80s - not full-fledged Armani, but their budget 'Mani' line. In fact, everything the unfortunate attorney is wearing, seems to be from that era. Truly, with that photo, the story is DailyMail-worthy. This is the image of Southerners which is pushed by Hollywood. He could be an extra from a courtroom scene in 'A Time to Kill'.

Went to Milsaps and OM Law School? Likely won't be featured in the fall Alumni Magazine edition at either school!

Twitter has found out about this and it's all over the place. One my favorite comments has been "it's always the ones you least expect." And of course the side-by-side photos comparing him to the zombie farmer from Men in Black.

Adults who willingly choose to drive a yellow vehicle have already proven their decision making skills are sus.

9:53 AM in the mid-80s, this guy was in elementary school....he's younger than he looks

Sometimes you wonder where John Grisham got his material.

Other times, not.

Just curious...but just looking at him (gross and scary) didn't alarm bells go off in his past ten visits as to simply triggering the "sketchy" alarm with the guards????

Seems the counselor has been watching the Mayor of Kingstown.

Never trust a person that drives a bright yellow Superduty truck. Everyone I have ever met that drives one is shady. Also, that mug shot, the sweats, the bulging eyes....

Dude looks like Roach Man from Men in Black.

@9:48

He's also a crooked used car salesman under a variety of aliases. Just Google any of the following to read the PRICELESS reviews of his non-law shadiness:

-Jackson Lease Sales
-Total Sales Solutions
-Old South Remarketing

The YouTube videos with his redneck daddy are GOLD.

Lots of complaints, unpaid judgments, BBB issues, etc . . .

Not at all a surprise.

Holy. Fucking. Shit. If I hadn't seen this in the news, I'd swear Fish was posting a Friday-morning laugh-a-thon post for humor.

Hey, when you're a lawyer it's all about appearances. This guy nails it.

He's been out in the HEAT to long. Look how sweaty his shirt is. Or his nerves are shot! Someone needs to give him a chill pill. Losing his law license for pushing contraband in jail. How low can you go. Maybe they need to pay these cities, state hired attorney more. Feel sorry for him. He sold his soul to the devil.

Crack is whack Yo!

Isn't he a Harvard law graduate, editor of The Harvard Law Review, first in his class, just like Chowke?

Ya'll are slipping. This is apparently a trend.

With a drug stash like that a fella could have a pretty good time in Vegas.

I've seen him somewhere before. It'll come to me in tim....Wait! That's either Barry Gilmer or Tom Head! Lemme think a minute.

Anonymous said...

Well, he certainly looks trustworthy.

I would have guessed Yale law school. Outstanding student!

I can't stop laughing at this picture!!

The Rogue might want to pay somebody to sneak that jacket out of Raymond since it's apparently not been cleaned since purchase in 1985, to put it out of its misery.

Anonymous said...

Just a dumb observation here but I dont care if its a lawyer or a DA, everyone entering the jailhouse gets checked. Look at the amount of stuff he took in there.

Anonymous said...

That's a lot of contraband. Probably a good thing he went for the briefcase because that would have been a lot to kiester!

Anonymous said...

I'm surprised he was allowed to take a briefcase into the jail. Before I retired, I occasionally had to meet with incarcerated clients in connection with civil matters I handled, usually to obtain their notarized signatures on documents. My paralegal/notary and I never took anything into the prison except the specific documents and a pen. We left everything - keys, purses, whatever - with the prison staff when we were screened and approved to enter.

Too easy search the damn inmate after the visit!

37 years practicing street law here..............among members of the bar there is not much that is a secret in this horse and buggy third world country called mississippi. the ms state bar knows about these troublemakers but does very little about them. same goes for the policing of judges by the mississippi state commission on judicial performance. the personell at these two organizations spend most of the time playing on their computers deciding on where to go to lunch, and seeing how early they can leave the office all while collecting a six figure check and full benefits.

Anonymous said...

The eyes are evidence he tests his product. Or high pressure Glaucoma?

Anonymous said...

The problem here lies squarely on the Sheriff and his policies. If this 'lawyer' did not raise red flags on his first 3 visits, he should have on his next 10. And nobody ever searched him before?

Seems the policy is 'as long as the visitor is a lawyer, he has special rights to cruise the property and have the run of the hallways'. That's a crap policy.

I guess nobody has even given a thought to a search warrant for the 'attorney's' residence where there is no doubt enough dope to cover an intent-to-distribute charge.

He brings a new definition to 'Jailhouse Lawyer'.

I went to high school with this guy, and it looks like he hasn’t changed much—except for his ride. He used to drive around in an old hearse with a coffin in the back. I haven’t thought about him since he went off to Tulane, but seeing this doesn’t surprise me one bit.

Anonymous said...

I was sure this story could not get any more odd,
Then 8:33 drops that little hearse detail and I am yet again, proven wrong.

Anonymous said...

8:33, we must have gone to the same school. I remember the hearse (we had 2 hearses at our school at one point) but do not remember the coffin…. When did he go to Tulane? I think he went to Millsaps, but may be mistaken.

Anonymous said...

@8:33 @6:42

There were indeed two hearses, but I’m pretty sure the one with the coffin belonged to (now Dr.) Cheryl Gladney.

Dan may finally be held accountable. He’s bragged on FB for years about never having made a single payment on his Millsaps or law school loans, running welfare scams, and cheating on his taxes.

I had no idea he was practicing law. All I’ve heard about him for the past twenty years is that he’s a crooked used car salesman.

Guess he won’t have to worry about being a lawyer much longer.

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
