Former President Donald Trump is facing four trials
timed to interfere with his campaign for president. His case before the
U.S. Supreme Court could decide whether presidents are immune from
prosecution. Maybe “No one is above the law,” but maybe some should have
never been above the law.
How can we have had a Constitution for more than 230 years before anyone raised the question of whether a president is immune from prosecution? Was it just that unthinkable that a sitting or past president would ever be charged with a crime? At the very least four simultaneous trials of a past president who is also a leading candidate for president should draw a lot of political questions … at least among those who question unprecedented lawsuits against a president.
Needless to say, these cases set a new low in politics and government. Cutting to the chase of the question Justice Alito asked, “if an incumbent who loses a very close, hotly contested election, knows that a real possibility after leaving office is not that the president is going to be able to go off into a peaceful retirement, but that the president may be criminally prosecuted by a bitter political opponent, will that not lead us into a cycle that destabilizes the functioning of our country as a democracy?” Michael Dreeben, one of the prosecuting attorneys answered, “Of course.”
In other words, could we destabilize and destroy America with such prosecutions? “OF COURSE!” Then, do we really want to go there?
In the Divided States of America, media have become the de-facto arbiters of truth. X (formerly Twitter), Tik Toc, Instagram, and Facebook have usurped the authority of the Constitution. Heaven help us when AI and “fact checkers” battle over the truth.
What began as an ill-advised political strategy not only to win the presidency, but moreover to destroy one of the leading candidates and divide the nation irreversibly has spun out of control of any earthly authority.
Without any doubt, the Democrat Party and affiliates along with a complicit media are the driving forces behind this series of cases against former president Trump. Could these cases be characterized as an insurrection? Or characterized as at least election interference? And, then what? Will the parties declare lawfare against one another?
If all of this political warfare were not bad enough, someone (likely the same brain-masters who conceived ‘trial-gate’) is simultaneously instigating irrational protests on college campuses. Students are arguing that Jews are perpetrating the same kind of genocide on Palestinians that Hitler and his hobnail booted thugs carried out on the deplorables of his day, whoever those people were.
That these Ivy League student protesters are so historically challenged is the least concern of university administrators. University donors are abandoning the most esteemed institutions of higher learning in the world. Money is the life blood not only of politics, but also of academia.
Politics,
media, academia, and money make up a witches’ brew of self-deceit and
self-destruction. We wrestle not against flesh and blood. The enemy has
deceived us into believing we are the superior race of intellectuals who
alone can conquer the challenges of all living on planet earth. Bless
the hearts of all those who believe they’re in charge and in control.

Of course a president has immunity. If not we would have almost all of the surviving presidents in jail. Who can forget the president who gave the order to bomb the civilians and our own troops? What about the president who bombed the pill factory? Does anyone remember the president who lied to us about weapons of mass destruction and got us into a war? That is just a few that I can remember. Almost forgot the president who refused to defend our country and allowed it to be invaded.
When you have candidates of the calibre of these immoral and ammoral bums the two parties have presented for president lately you should expect criminal prosecutions, perversion, lies, backstabbing, libelous statements, incompetence, and all the rest. It comes with the territory. You can't make chicken salad out of chicken s..t no matter which party tries to. There's more to come.
It's the corruption of the judicial branch that has led us to this. If they denied this suits, they wouldn't exist. The left know who their "partners" are on the bench in tilting things Leftward.
“ Was it just that unthinkable that a sitting or past president would ever be charged with a crime?”
No, it’s unthinkable that the American public and other politicians are willing to support a criminal while claiming to be victims. In the old days, the founding fathers didn’t consider the moral decay that would lead so many to idolize a thug.
Donald Trump has lowered the bar for America. Everything he does drags the bar down a little further. If you haven’t seen the movie “Idiocracy”, it’s worth a watch. Although it was originally a comedy, I’d classify it firmly in the horror category now.
Our judicial system is broken. Has been for awhile. These travesties will break the camels back.
Your first sentence should have been:
Former President Donald Trump is facing four trials because he has never been held accountable for criminal activity before now.
Some people do not stop and take time to think that if Trump is found guilty of anything that will not stop him from winning the presidency. If and when he does win people can look forward to seeing other past presidents being charged with the same things with a couple being charged with even more serious crimes.
The root cause of our difficulties is that elected officials are a reflection of the voters who put them into office, The decay is much deeper than just the politicians. In his speech to the Constitutional Convention in 1787, Ben Franklin foresaw the days we now face and set forth his fears simply and clearly:
"In these sentiments, Sir, I agree to this Constitution with all its faults,
if they are such; because I think a general Government necessary for us, and
there is no form of Government but what may be a blessing to the people if well
administered, and believe farther that this is likely to be well administered
for a course of years, and can only end in Despotism, as other forms have done
before it, when the people shall become so corrupted as to need despotic
Government, being incapable of any other."
We, as a people, have become so corrupted that we need, and demand, a despotic government on both sides of the political spectrum.
I saw the first signs of this corruption at the Republican Convention in 1976 and hoped that its maturity would not come to pass in my lifetime. I was wrong.
Trump does lead in the prom queen contest. When you look at likely voters ( the folks who really understand what’s at stake) Biden wins the popular vote.
May 4, 2024 at 6:08 PM, tell us, what is at stake?
If you are a Biden supporter, explain how four more years of his economic killing policies is what we need.
If you are a Trump supporter, tell us how Trump will pull the country out of the death spiral Biden has it in. Because neighbor, the economy is dying on the vine.
"We, as a people, have become so corrupted that we need, and demand, a despotic government on both sides of the political spectrum."
Friend, you speak for yourself. There's nothing here I would miss heaven for. Nothing.
France has convicted two former PMs. Italy, South Korea, Argentina, South Africa, all have too. Democracy survives and thrives with accountability.
@7:29 I wonder what economy your living in , under 4 years of Trump the economy grew on average of 1.5%, in three years under Biden it’s averaged 3.4 %. In the pass year the Dow is up 16.75% and my lil old retirement reflects it .
The hoopla around Trump reminds me of David Duke running for governor of Louiana . Everybody was on the bandwagon with a bumper sticker or a yard sign. Problem for Duke was a lot of those folks were not registered to vote and many of the ones who were really didn’t like him and voted for his opponent . He lost

SInce when does the "popular vote" matter? The US Constitution says the vote in the Electoral College is the only vote that matters,
The hoopla about Trump I enjoyed was the cheap gas prices and the low prices on groceries and everything else. I don't enjoy giving nearly double for gas and sure do not enjoy buying anything at the prices today.
I sort of liked the part about no wars also.
May 5, 2024 at 1:48 PM, I'm living in the real economy. The growth you attributed to Biden is a result of government spending from the war support, and the Green New Deal. That is not economic growth, that is government spending.
The Dow increase, is also a result of government spending. Let me also add, that all of this government spending, is being done with borrowed money. Which causes constant inflation, which has surpassed any gains that you boast of.
The American dollar has seen a constant loss of value since 2020. The US debt borrowing has gained international attention, and warning from the International Monetary Fund.

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2024-04-16/imf-steps-up-its-warning-to-us-over-ballooning-debt
There are many, many, people in the middle class, to upper middle class that have used credit cards to sustain their standard of living. This credit card borrowing, because of inflation, has caused the greatest level of credit card debt, ever.
https://www.cbsnews.com/news/credit-card-debt-record-high/
The Federal Reserve did not lower the interest rate this past week as many had hoped, and expected. With the Biden Cabal continuing to borrow to finance the replenishing of armaments on two fronts, the Green New Deal, and to support with monies the invasion of the southern border, the warning from the IMF is growing prophetic.
The increase of Federal Reserve interest rates, that will accompany the continued borrowing, will crush the US consumer. Bankruptcies will abound, our economy will stagnate, and crash. This will cause a ripple effect through the global markets.

As far as voters go, unless they are idiots, they vote according to their wallet. It's the economy, stupid. I almost neglected to mention the looming real estate crises that large cities are to face in the very near future.
Many large companies are not renewing their leases, in the down town areas, because so many employees are working from home. This will create many problems for not only the owners, of the buildings, but the cities as a shrinking tax base creates funding problems. Jackson MS. will not be the only city with an abandoned look.
My portfolio has increase by 70k since November, that enough to give me a 10%annual increase for the next 10 years on my distributions … what’s inflation?
When you don’t like the facts just create new ones!
If we make the oval the seat of immunity then every mob boss in America is going to try for the position.
Oh wait.....
