The Byram Police Department issued the following statement.
On Thursday, April 11, 2024, Officers of the Byram Police Department responded to the Chevron gas station (7382 Siwell Road), regarding a robbery. Upon the arrival of officers, the victim informed officers that he began communicating with the suspect through Facebook Market Place. The suspect created a Facebook Market place add trying to sale an I-phone 6 for $200. The victim agreed to meet the suspect at one of the apartment complexes within the city limits, which the suspect later robbed the victim at gunpoint by taking his money. Through the course of the investigation detectives immediately developed a suspect: 18-year-old Torian Josiah Catchings (AKA:T.J.). Catchings was arrested by the Byram Police Department after a felony bench warrant was issued for his arrest.
Catchings is currently being held at the Hinds County Detention Center, on the charges of Armed Robbery. Catchings will go before the Honorable Judge Damon Stevenson within the week for his initial appearance.

Friends don't let friends use Fakebook Marketplace. It is scam central.
My shocked face.
Dummy deserved to be robbed.
Another gas station "incident".
Nice looking barber smock he has on….Byram PD is good at catching low level criminals, pot heads and traffic violators but they are terribly short on finding and convicting anyone on equipment theft. That’s a different ball game.
If you agree to meet an unknown person at an apartment complex to carry on a Facebook Marketplace cash transaction, then "you reap what you sow"

And that's why I always meet at the police station for such things.
Byram PD needs to have someone proofread their press releases…
Bruh. Meeting a stranger in a sketchy place to pay fair or above market value for a 10 year old technology iPhone is just wild. I’m also in the he deserved to be robbed for being stupid camp.
Also, it’s “sell” cmon Byram PD
I have purchased several items from Marketplace, and have, to this date, never had a bad encounter. I do a little background investigation on the seller, though, and if it doesn't feel right, I leave it alone.
iPhone 6s on Amazon - $110
Apple stopped supporting it except for security updates.

Don't worry kid, you'll be out shortly to continue with your ministry.
